I mentioned in another post that I came out to friends via my facebook

but the problem was that I did not use a name that anyone recognized

and it seems like no one bothers to read my info tab where I state plainly my given name (the one that they would recognize) and that I am transsexual and so forth

however!

I went to a poetry event today (or um I guess now that would be yesterday...) with some friends

I was in male mode, or as close to it as I get anymore

and it was fun, nothing in any way out of the ordinary

then

I overheard one of the friends that I was trying to come out to on facebook talking to another friend

and talking about me

he kept referring to me as her and she :lol: and then "correcting" himself

and the really cool part is his acceptance

not the kind that I would have ever expected

I am used to the kind of instant acceptance that I have from my female friends, the kind where the whole dynamic of how they relate to me shifts from male to female

but with this friend, nothing has changed

nothing

gender is a non issue to him

he is friends with me the human being regardless whether I am male or female or androgen or whatever

so

I had a great day today! (or yesterday or whatever)

I like being happy!

I gotta try this more often!

You have found a true friend and when you have one you are in a good place - stay happy it is a wonderful feeling that too many of us tend to avoid - we seem to dwell in depression that is largely of our own making.

That's a wonderful thing.......

I know exactly how that is, because I had it happen to me, too....

I came out to an old male friend.....we're still "Just Friends" ...

Except when we're out, he'll hold doors open for me and pull out my chair...he never did that before...all else is good...

So, it seems as though you have a friend that is only affected by you and not gender....

Real good stuff....
