Finding Your Female Voice

OK, so the Voice Survival Pack from Deep Stealth came in the mail a week (more or less) ago. I've checked out the DVD a couple times and printed out the workbook, but with all that PLUS the spectrogram exercises and audio CD... I'm overwhelmed!

TO THOSE THAT HAVE USED IT:

Where do I start? Do you have any tips? All I've gotten through so far is a bunch of stuff where it sounds like I'm clearing my throat and... uhh... somewhere around the part where she tries to help you find your falsetto voice... And about that, any tips on finding that point in my voice range? I'm a chain smoker (smoked since I was 12) and while I've been told that I could have a beautiful singing voice if I were given lessons, I can't sing!!

Please, please, please help!!!!!

HUGGS TO ALL

Belle

P.S. Lizzy, if you prefer, feel free to PM me your thoughts/advice. I'm going to send you a PM now directing you to this topic post so I don't have to retype it all to you.

Go to the CD and get a good set of headphones - go to exercises 29 and above. That is the really useful part. Up to that part it is just practicing to reach the area in the thoat that is needing to be reawakened. Yawn really deep - that's where it is. Do the tight-then-soft exercises. They do work - but listen to the inflections too - even with the vowel exercises - she is using a female voice that you want. Note the emphatic closing of the syllables.

Hope this helps - we can talk on this too.

Oh, Dear.....

Honey.....Please, PLEASE find a way to quit....

You CANNOT smoke while on HRT...

Estrogen has ways of causing DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and smoking increases the chance of getting it dramatically!

I care....

Hi Belle,

I found from exercise 10 to 20 are good to warm up and get me to the falsetto, after that, exercises from 21 to 43 are good after I manage to have the falsetto and resonance.

The main thing from the exercise is to let the voice go up to the falsetto and come down (but still above the throat) to reach the female resonance. I feel like the female resonance is using a more higher part of the throat muscles and focus the voice higher....like most people say like a head voice. Also, relax your throat and not squeezing out your voice seems much more easier and more natural. In addition, control the air flow helps a lot to control the voice in a manageable manner. Its will takes a while to kick in and let your brain to reuse that part of your throat. Hope this help.

No worries, DJ, I'm quitting smoking THIS MONTH! I haven't scheduled my appt yet, but I'll be going to the doctor soon to get on that Chantix stuff. I've heard that it works well, so long as you can handle the side-effects and you KEEP TAKING IT! I'll be on it for as long as necessary. I quit drinking, smoking pot... now it's time to quit my MAIN crutch... cigarettes!!

And I know you care :)

I wanna get that. Right now it would be too terrified to try it. Brother is always home or ready to barge in at any minute and mom is here when she gets home. I know I know I'm a chikin lol. I will be getting it as soon as I have a job, probably the first thing I buy since I might as well get my voice down to a science lol. Guess I need to gather up the courage eh?

Stopping smoking pot is really hard since it's around me all the time. I commend you on that. I screwed up and got some today.

I just got it today, and I am wondering what lesson plan I should start on. I have done alot of stage acting, and singing, so I am very familiar with throat muscle control, chest vs. stomach breathing, voice projecting, etc.

Hi Belle,

I was inspired this week at the local TS support group. About a half-dozen of the girls were talking, so easily that I never imagined they weren't using their natural voices. At some point, the group got around to talking about voice and each of them demonstrated their old voice. What a shock!

So, I just ordered the Deep Stealth kit myself. Thanks for the inspiration too!

My voice is the thing that stands between me and transition. I don't know when I'll get to practice - can't at home. I have a long road trip coming up - 12 hours of driving. I'll get some good use of the time, We'll see after that...

Thank you Lizzie also for the helpful comments.

Love, Kat

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.

@Birdie You certainly have more patience than I do.  I don't take it well if I get scolded.  Either I sulk or I get nippish.    We had a good Mother's Day here yesterday.  Quite an event, since 4 of my partners are mothers.  GF enjoys it a lot, because she's very (excessively?) proud of having produced her 5 kids.  Her eldest starts school this fall.  Amazing how time flies...
