Oddly enough I think It'd be cool to work in interior design.

I'd make houses look really modern with one or two old fashioned rooms for nostalgia. And houses based on star trek ships, and lifts based on star trek lifts. :P

My favorite look is old fashioned leather and wood but this looks great Matty! Super cool. That lift was a touch of genius. The perfect place to hang out.

Now where are the other guys?

Perfect!

I hope it comes with the cat. Nothing more soothing than reading a book with a cat purring on your lap. I might skip the fire till fall though.

I prefer my reading room to come with a dog but other than that...

Having a place to go just for reading is my idea of heaven! I'll try not to be too antisocial and take my nose out of the book every now and then I promise.

That lift is a brilliant idea. I'm sure it's far cooler than whatever social services is gonna provide me with for my home! lol

Interior design sounds like a really fun job to me but I wouldn't be any good at it. My idea of decorating is a little...um...quirky for most people's tastes lol

I wonder what they'll provide for me too. Ah waiting lists.

And I agree on the dog thing.

as me, JJ, CariadsCarrot and Jay are all the first in the new rooms I think we should all have some cake quickly before anyone else comes in....

oh yeah...and all the red tape!

Still it's better than the first time I had dealings with them when they told me to to get someone to put a bed in my living room downstairs for me, wash myself in the kitchen sink and buy a commode...to give up the idea of ever going in any other room of my house and also to give up the idea of ever leaving my house again while I was at it as my front door wasn't accessible.

...I was in my early 20's and this is how they wanted me to live out the rest of my life.

I was lucky. Things changed but it took a long time and for my disability to get worse (partly down the situation they left me in damaging my body more)...but now I have a bathroom and a front door I can use...we're working on the lift lol

I've been told they should also provide me with a minicom too but I'm not holding my breath or anything!

...and as for the power wheelchair...I christened her Nessy coz for at least 2 years she was a mythical creature that the wheelchair service promised they were giving me but there was no real proof she existed!

You've gotta laugh haven't you or it drives you crazy!

It makes me grateful for what I have though.

I hope you get what you need soon too Matthias. Have you been waiting long?

Cake sounds good. What flavour do you guys want?

LOL yeah I don't want to be made into a cake!

I actually quite like carrot cake (does that make me a cannibal?) but just for you Colm, no carrot cake here.

Although I dunno about the cannibalism thing, lol.

How about chocolate with buttercream?

I don't mean to be all deep and stuff... ha what am I on about. I can't help myself.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Like I lay here in bed and outside on the street it's silent but for the sound of car doors occasionally closing and opening, a few voices here and there as they pass by and the wind blowing. The sounds of life on a quiet neighbourhood make me think about all the other noises, all the car doors that were opening and closing at exactly the same time, the sound of someone somewhere else taking a breath, the sound of someone's life as they take footsteps, eat, drink, love, cry and they enjoy their moments the best they can. But enjoying those moments eludes me, I feel compelled to remain in misery because joy looks fake to me. And no it won't change over time. People have told me that again and again since I was about 11 and started asking the deeper questions in life. "You just need to find your happiness" what if I'm incapable of truly being happy? I see right through happy, happy is transparent to me. I can see through the cracks. Sure I can enjoy something positive but only to a certain extent because I'm ALWAYS aware of the cracks, I'm aware that though that happy music might play in the background that bad lurks underneath. I know that it's in those moments when I feel high that something, anything can bring me to my knees in agony

I saw this documentary a few months ago on television and the woman it was about said something like "Happiness is a sensation, not a condition." I've been thinking about it recently, and I think it's very true. You can feel happy at particular moments in your life, but I don't think anyone hits a point in their life when they're happy all the time. Also, emotions are pretty relative, so if you were happy all the time, I bet eventually you would end up feeling like that was normal and not happy.

Another thing I've been thinking about recently is that I think you have to let happiness and all these other emotions come to you. They're not really something you can force - if you're feeling happy, you're feeling happy, and if you're feeling frustrated, that's what it is, and you just have to let that run its course without any of it overwhelming you. Emotions are pretty transient, so if you picture your feeling as sort of washing over you and then going away once it's less immediate, the whole thing seems to feel a lot calmer and more in control.

I guess what I'm trying to say is to let the emotions be themselves. Just because there are cracks doesn't mean that the joy isn't there too, and you kind of have to take whatever you can get from those moments.

OK, now I feel all deep. Thanks, Matty.

Lol. I make people feel deep alot .... is it just me who thinks that sentence sounded slightly dirty? *shifty*

And as for the sensation of happiness. I guess you're right. And I should change my question to "what if one is incapable of achieving the sensation of happiness?" lol

This one is close, but not quite right: :doh1:

2. Re your rephrased question. If you really think this is true of you (and I'd encourage you to strongly question that), then you have two options. Either you need to find a way to be OK with that, or you need to find a way to lower your threshold for what you determine as a "happy" emotion so that even if it's not as happy as you'd like to be, it's still something and you're getting some positive feeling. Hopefully some aggregate of positive emotions might help you approach a sensation of happiness, even if it's not as good as you'd like it to be.

I'm a right ray of sunshine on this, aren't I?

The incapability of being able to achieve happiness...hm never really thought of that.

But i think to some extent even if you are incapable of achieving happiness often, there are times in which you are happy that you cant help it. For me thats when i am sitting in seculusion on the lake fishing. When i am able to look at all that goes on in the world around you that often times you arent able to notice because your too busy.

It is as Colm said though, you wont be happy all the time, but neither will you be depressed your entire life(although at times it feels like it). Simply like it was put, emotions are emotions and there is no way to stop them, or make them go away.

Also, why is my toaster incapable of making toast that lives outside the range of 'moderately charred' to 'burnt beyond all recognition of bread'? I just want a nice piece of toast.

I'm a masculine woman. It's not about masculinity though. It's about expanding what it means to be a woman.

It never rains but it pours.  We had a dry spring, but now my garden is a swamp and my yard is a pond.  Get off the gravel road, and you'd need a hovercraft.    With nothing better to do, I'm going on a short trip with my husband tomorrow.  Since he's in management he usually doesn't do this sort of work, but whenever he does I usually go along.  And he already knows not to try staying in a hotel, because I want to sleep in the bunk in the truck.  So much more cozy.    And for a couple of days, GF can actually take care of her own kids instead of leaving them to me....

I have played clarinet, but without talent.  And while I *can* sing, I think listening to it would be an acquired taste.

Something that would help is reducing salt intake which causes the body to hold water and causes inflammation, another thing would be to add cardio to your exercise routine. Lowering your overall body fat will affect your face appearance. Hope this helps :)

Hey all,   It's been a while, but I blogged a whole series on makeup.  It's an eight-part series where I talk about my techniques.   Here is the link to Part 1:       Hopefully the blog series is helpful.

Oh, I can relate to that one Vicky, leaving lipstick in hot weather  I've lost count how many times I had to purchase new purses.

Thanks for the replies, as an admin from my own group I understand the same rules, agreed.

I do spoken word acting, and give Trans 101 talks and other public speaking.  I wear make-up for those occasions.  Sephora is easy for me to get to, and has a foundation that does a good job for me and the sales folks there are Trans Friendly.  Their eye shadow pallets are also fun to use. Another source of my foundation is Ulta which carries Dermablend that does a consistent job of my lower face and chin.   I just use good old Revlon lipsticks because I ruin them by leaving my purse in the hot car too often.

I'm not interested in makeup, jewelry or nice clothes or girly stuff.  It's made me wonder at times.   It saves some money.  If I wore a skirt it would likely  be denim.  I thought about a woman's skirt suit but nah.   Neither of my sisters are into that stuff either.  One likes peasant chic (still a 60s flower girl)  and the other - the only time she has ever worn a dress was at her wedding.  Jeans at all other times.   Jeans and t shirt here.  Content being a girl.  Weirdo. Weirda? Never mind.

@Ladypcnj Before posting links to other group's websites, PM one of the Staff (preferably an Admin) and have them check that site out.   We have specific rules here regarding age appropriateness and would need to know that the other site is in line with those rules.  We do have members here between 13 and 18 and other sites need to be safe for that age range, legally and otherwise.  Also, we are not a dating or pick-up site, not do we allow people selling things to advertise here.  As I said clear the link with a moderator or admin before posting it.  Mod's and admins do check out posts and if we find problem links we will remove them and notify the OP of a rules violation.  Go to https://www.transgenderpulse.com/community-rules to understand where we are.

I raise my hand in the group, I have a question and a suggestion... is it allowed to share other new lgbtq+ website links here?
    • Ladypcnj
Yeah, ELF is a good brand, another brand is Revlon ColorStay last 24 hours.
