A Dozen Red Roses

I took off the costume I wore for you

The world threw a dozen roses

You can finally see this girl showing through

You clap and the curtain closes

Each of these red roses remained to remind

Thoughts that wrap around me like a vine

Pulling me down to the floor to weep

I had given you the dozen roses I now keep

I now lay in a casket red roses on my chest

Please don't cry, this is what I need

Make sure I look pretty in my death dress

A dozen red roses and I have been freed

A beautiful poem but such a cold image.

Why are we so unhappy - we are becoming ourselves why can't that be enough to make us happy, why do we need approval from the very people who made us pretend to be some one else in the first place?

When I start to realize that life is just a series of trgedies and being built up just to be let down into tragedy it causes some sort of massachistic sense of wanting love and acceptance from those who've inflicted it on me. Because they and those tragedies are familiar. I think my emotional experiences may be shared by many but I'm not likely to know.
