WARNING WARNING

This is a video of a GRS / SRS operation preformed by doctor Marcy Bowers. It is VERY BLOODY AND GRAPHIC. The 3 hour surgery has been compressed down to 6 minutes.

We had a postop that recently left to carry on with her life

who is a good friend of mine.Years ago she sent me a video of

one of her local girlfriend's surgery, begining to end.It was

pretty long and very graphic. With the work preformed by Dr Kunaporn.

Know what it did for me? Made me want mine that much more.

Nice video Princess Nova, although very graphic. If you faint at the sight of blood you probably won't want to watch this. I agree with Angie though, this makes me want SRS much more, especially since Dr Bowers is the closest to me and probably where I will go.

Actually I really needed this and makes me more determined to get to this point.

That was really interesting to watch. I now see how easy it would be to have a fistula happen, which I didn't fully understand before.

I wonder if there's any similar videos for FTMs.

I have seen several other srs operations that are on the net but the quality are not as good.

I have my surgery scheduled for next year, watching these videos grosses me out a bit but it does make me want to get it asap, thank goodness i will be out for the 5 hour operation, oh well the next 11 months 3 weeks and 5 days will fly by and also drag, lots of things to do to get ready for before and after.

wow... I had no idea it was that "easy". I mean... I have absolutely no problem with that at all! I agree with the rest of you, this makes me want it more! Marcy Bowers made a youtube vid into an awesome ad lol.

Ummmmmmm...

In 1986 I had both of my hips replaced...

I wasn't that interested in seeing it at all...

I just wanted to be able to walk at the end.....

Same with SRS!

Jessica, the operation is not as easy as it looks, Dr. Mcginn my surgeon said the operation will take 5 hours if there are no complications along the way, there are many risks that can happen, death, DVT, stroke, heart attack and one that is rare but has a 1% chance of happening is rectal-vaginal fistula that Angie posted about last week, regardless of those risks i have scheduled surgery for next year, i have started dieting to lose the 50-60 pounds i need to lose to get to a bmi of less than 28, exercising with a personal trainer who knows my goals so i can be in great physical shape.

I didn't mean "easy" so to speak... I meant more like, looks like something I could handle. I am well aware of the incredibly dangerous risk factors. I just meant that, in my mind the surgery would have been much more dramatic. That's all :)

Wow, Thank you for posting this, I am still in awe that this surgery can be done. Until you see it, it is kind of something you just hear about and wonder how it is really done (to me anyway) But it does make me want to have it so much more. I think the risks are pretty much the same as many surgeries (DVT, stroke, heart attack etc) but there are many precautions they take to avoid them. As long as you are in good health, not over weight, dont smoke, and no big risk factors eg coagulation problems etc surgeries are mostly the same when it comes to risks. (nurse Nadine speaking)

My wife always tells me her grandmother used to say to her it takes great pains to be beautiful.

OK......

I sat here and watched the whole thing ...

Fascinating!

But, I'll not watch it again...once was enough...

It was cool to see how the procedure works, though!

That was amazing! I am blown away by the skills of the surgeons.

I cannot wait for my turn! (reaches in her pocket and pulls out cobwebs)

I can't believe I made it through the whole thing. I can't even watch fake surgery on tv shows. But yeah, wow. That was awesome, except for the blood and the cutting of flesh and whatnot.

I don't know why it keeps telling me that you tube is not available on my phone because I can open up anything else on you tube. Anybody else having trouble opening up the link?

wow, about half way through you really start to see it take shape. I don't suppose there are any 6 months later type pics specifically from that op?

My reaction is similar. I've seen many videos of the procedure over the years, and many, many photos, and this is a good summary. I want to be informed. But my reaction was no different than if it was heart surgery or an appendectomy -- it's the cutting and the blood that make me gasp. The fact that it was SRS and that organ was almost secondary, and I was interested in what the surgeon was creating, and how. It was things to come, not something fearful.
