How much does the belly button area piercing cost (not including the jewelry)? I hear some have a bit of trouble with it chafing. I can get way with it, I think, because a lot of what I wear is low-rise.

Lizzy

OH

Caution! We are not encouraging those underage here! This is an exchange of information. EVERYONE is advised to investigate the dangers of piercing and tattoos. If you are underage, you must have the supervision of your parent(s) or guardian. Danger of infection - especially in "dirty areas' is a possibility.

It all depends on the place that you go to. I know that in places in Colorado you could get them for $10 and it be decent. It all depends where you go :P

Hahah, now I have to quote the man. XD

“I'm not vicious really. I consider myself to be kindhearted. I love my mum.”

And heyyyy, I'm rough and tough and all that stuff! *winky face*

I knew you were going to say that!! This is why I did it :P;)

Wow, piercings! Now, this is a subject I can relate too!!!

OK, well first off, I 'd like to recommend that you don't go bigger that 6g. If you do, then no bigger than 4g. I've got all kinds of friends that had 0g and bigger and their ears are messed up today. They will never have a normal ear lobe again. And as far as with myself... I dont' recall if my biggest plugs were 6g or 4g, but it was one of the two. Luckily, I am able to get by with many earrings, but not all. If I wear no earrings, I do fine, but certain kinds of earrings just don't look right in my ears now(causes my hole to look like a slit)

Oh, and as far as the plastic things go (i.e. retainers), you need to know that you CAN'T wear those when you first get something pierced. Plastic is riddled with tons of nearly-microscopic holes, which hold air... Now I don't know why, but they say that that's bad for new piercings. Somehow, it causes infections.

And unless you work at an airport, you won't need to wear retainers to go. You can pass through metal detectors using standard piercing jewelry. Trust me ;) JUST WATCH IT IF YOU WEAR A STUDDED BELT AND METAL WALLET CHAIN (I will never do that again!)

And as for your last question... kind of. I used to have my umm... member... pierced. And I just removed those. Actually, I don't wear any piercings currently, except for my regular girl earrings (I've got all kinds of holes in my ears). I DO, however, plan to get my nipples and my belly button pierced once I start HRT. I also might do my nose...

HUGGS AND KISSES

Belle

lol. yes. I used to have around 16 in my ears alone. i've had 2 piercings in my lips 2 diff times. I've had my nose done and my eyebrow... and I had 4 piercings in my you know what...

Oh, and I had planned on adding like 4 more piercings to each ear, doing my other eyebrow, doing my nipples, and adding 3 more to my you know what.

So, ya, there is EASILY room for 22.

Dang girllll

Peirce-a-holic! XD

I want a spider bite and an Industrial. Plus, a couple tattoos. Space invaders are going to go on left wrist. 'Vicious' is going to go on my right wrist.

Kinda tempted to get a 'corset' piercing too.

22, wow. Lots of money went into those I bet. XD

corset=HOT! Like I said, addicting lol. I started in High school with my belly button (worst one ever) and progressed. I have also never paid for a piercing in my life. My best friend is a professional piercer :-) I want to second what Lizzy said. Piercings and tattoos can be very dangerous when not done properly. There are very few legit piercing pagodas in malls. If you go to one. Check them out first. NEVER ever get a piercing from a friend even if they think they know what they are doing. I made this mistake in High school and it ended up turning out just fine but looking back on it we were stupid and I could have really been in trouble. Completely hypocritical saying do as I say not as I do but I made that mistake and many others have made that mistake, some not as lucky as others. I attatched a picture of my favorite piercing. This picture was taken before I got both reverse anti-eyebrows.

Piercings are like tattoos, addicting as heck!

See that's what I'm afraid of... lol I only want a few piercings and I don't wanna go overboard. Same with tattoos. I don't wanna end up with a sleeve on each arm, that's just too much for me. lol. I wanna get "passion and wisdom" in Scots Gaelic tattooed onto my inner arm. Not sure what other tattoos I want but I will probably want more than that, just haven't come up with any good ideas yet :P As for piercings I wanna get my cartilage pierced but that takes long to heal and I've heard it's really painful so I dunno. I also want a few more on my earlobes (I already have both earlobes pierced.)

And yeah that's about it. lol.

i wouldn't be too worried. people that really don't want too many piercings from the get go rarely wind up with a whole lot. especially if you don't hang out with people that have lots of piercings, you're likely to remain pretty conservative with it.

it's only addictive if you're really into it.

So I had went from a 14G to a 10G right... Well they are infected now. Great! They were hurting me and my left one was hurting real bad. So I tried to take out. When I put my fingers in the back to get the tapper out, I felt a wetness. :( It was bleeding. :( I got them out right away. It took me a long time. They were very very sore! :( I now have the 14G rings that I had in before because a Facebook friend told me to keep something in because it's bad to let them close with an infection. He's a professional piercer, so I felt comfortable listening to him so I put the 14G back in. The holes around it are *very* tight and small. When I move my head it hurts. :( Poor ears :( They are so nasty. I am cleaning them with peroxide because that is all we have. We don't have any neosporin or anything like that so this is all I get. :( I never should have skipped G's but I did so I have to be very very careful and wait it out for awhile.

Note: Let this be a LESSON to all of you!! Take care of piercings. TALK TO SOMEONE that knows what they are doing. Like a professional!! I am in a LOT of pain from my ears right now. Also, if you are using tappers, DO NOT WEAR THEM ALL THE TIME! They are not meant to be used as plugs, only to stretch the holes. CLEAN the piercings. Do NOT let your piercings get infected!! It's *VERY* painful and dangerous!! Please be careful with piercings!!!

Thank you

You really need to get some sea salt and let them soak for a bit. If you can, get some H2Ocean and start spraying your ears 6-8 times a day.

I don't have any money for that stuff :( I was told that peroxide would work just fine for now. I just got done doing that not too long. They look like crap.

I am so sorry about your infections but you can get by with peroxide as a disinfectant but the sea salt will be very good for it and not dry it as much.

It is not expensive you can buy it in any grocery store.

Love ya,

you can use tea tree oil to help clean the piercing if you can't get hold of any peroxide

also i can't stress this enough when stretching please use a lot of water based lube like ky jelly or astroglide it helps not to get a blow out

You are not the first to suggest KY Jelly :P

Yeah I have to remember that for next time. I am going to wait for at least a month or two before attempting it. I need to get a 12G before even attempting anything too.

Plenty of room for 22. None are dirty and only 4 on my ears. Two guaged lobes and industrials. I also have an anti-eyebrow, reverse anti-eyebrow on both sides, labret, and a couple more unusual ones. :-) Piercings are like tattoos, addicting as heck!

What is an anti-eyebrow and a reverse anti-eyebrow?

Speaking as someone with 22 piercings, they wont set off metal detectors at airports lol. I promise. But if your paranoid you could always buy retainers in bulk :-)

....ow o.o, where??? Where did you even find room!

Southern Belle since you know alot about piercings I will just let you know that I had 2 frenals and 2 PA's. I would not suggest that anyone get a PA. The only bright side for me is if and when I have SRS it will take away what I have done there.

This is to everyone else that is thinking about piercings or tats, just make sure you can live with the holes as some dont heal up ever or a tat for the rest of your life. I have piercing regret that I wish I never did. I probably could be called a pin cushin for the amount of times I have been pierced. I only wear earrings now but want my belly button done again. I had to take that one out because of a previous job. Lizzy and anyone else that wants their belly button, I will warn you that if you have a job that does a lot of lifting or carrying boxes around your belly area that it is not going to be that comfortable and could make it take forever to heal properly. That is why I had to take mine out because it would never heal properly after 6 months of keeping it in. I would continually hit it with a box or something else.

I've gotten to the point lately where I'm thinking of the extension of the separation of church and state to separation of culture and state.  Government's purpose to ensure a construct of civility.  Food, clothing, shelter and justice for the individual.  That includes the roads as far as they pertain to the distribution of food, clothing and shelter.  And "ensure" is different than "provide".   I think that there is no way to truly express yourself or have a good foundation without having a personal culture.  I like telling stories and teaching lessons through my culture, but I always hope that people don't think I'm promoting my culture beyond it just being visible as an option.

I would imagine the GOPers are holding that by bull in their hand and paying attention to the Trump version with the nine commandments highlighted.

It is scary, (and as you say, thrilling) at first.  But the more you do it the easier it gets.  I dress fem 24/7 (almost always skirts and dresses) and I live in a conservative county of a "red state".   Sure, there are places I avoid, but I have little desire to be there anyway.  It gets to just be part of who you are.   My experience is that most people don't care, some are curious, and surprisingly many (usually other women) friendly.   The first steps are the hardest.  It's similar with bathrooms.
    • Ivy
Don't know how this posted itself.  To continue…   There was a time when I tried to make excuses for them.  But I am coming to the realization that in their eyes, I, and those like me, are 2nd class citizens at best.
    • Ivy
There is a rather large part of the GOP that is determined to strip the rights of trans citizens, despite us being a small minority, some with families, who work, pay taxes, and who do - and have served in our armed forces, are medics, nurses, etc.   They insist that the US is a "christian country" - referring to their particular brand of christianity.  And this is despite the constitution, that they claim near worship of, expressly prohibiting this very thing.
    • Lydia_R
Oregon has a law that allows you to change your name and gender once in your lifetime without involving the courts.  It took me about 2.5 months to complete and was relatively easy.  It came up yesterday about how I changed my gender on my ID to F instead of X.  I identify with M->F, not X.  I passed over the line into F, but I'm still near the middle in the spectrum.  And I intend to keep going in the F direction.  There is another transwoman named Rachel Rand who is about 10 years older than me and I use her as a model for where I want to be in 10 years.   I'm a proud Gen X'er, but it's based on latchkey arcade games, not gender.
    • Lydia_R
I never met me GT in person.  I started off by dressing in my LBD going to fast food and drive thru coffee.  The first time I ventured out of the car, I was wearing a tight fitting long black dress with hose and heels to the ATM.  No one saw me and it was a good step to take.  I still love that dress and was wearing it last week.  I have learned to accept my male bulge in a feminine way thinking of it being like a teenage girl who's breasts are coming in and how that must feel when being in public.  Nothing I can do about it and I'm not into wearing some pleated skirt to hide it because I'm not into that style.
    • Lydia_R
Wow, talk about big data!  I think I'd geek out on those vectors.  Politically, that idea is pretty sick.  Artistically....  Gotta have something to do with your time.  It's low impact work.

Although there certainly is just flat out racist hate in this, I tend to ignore that kind of thing and think of it from an economic standpoint.   I've seen some reports of the Chinese being afraid of their men becoming weaker and becoming less able to do hard, manual labor.  Of course that is just sexist BS on some level (my first wife does professional construction work), there is undoubtedly a weakening that goes with the M->F thing.  I feel it within my body.   In my opinion, it's just old school economics of a growing economy.  Like Vaclov Smil is suggesting, maybe we should give up on the idea of growth:   https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/sep/21/vaclav-smil-interview-growth-must-end-economists   I believe this old school growing economy is over and there is nothing anyone can really do about it.  Like a river, we just need to go with the flow and not fight it.  My roommate is talking about the idea of the country splitting up in to regions.  Perhaps there is some sense in that?  Two of my trans roommates this year came from the mid-south specifically for trans healthcare here.  We all like it here in Portland.  It isn't perfect.  Ironically, it could be much more accepting here.  But all the trans people I know here say that we are not leaving.  Because of my career, it is almost certain I will have to move by the end of the year, but I'll likely be coming back when my job is completed.  My house is 4 miles from the transgender hospital too.  I've had the fantasy for years about being a halfway house for people having surgeries.  I get this feeling that it is going to become a strange episode of M*A*S*H.  I guess I'm just going to go with the flow on this.  Fighting the tow of the moon and all that.

Yes, its common in gender therapy, my therapist was similar the same way, I should embrace my femineity. I came out in my childhood years. It was the first time my parents took me clothes shopping; I ran on over to the girl's department when I was a kid, some of us already knew we are girls. Okay, now let's bring things up to 2024, how to get past your fear? For starters, you can watch fashion shows or look around your surroundings outside to see what other women are wearing today. Take out your notebook to write things down such as red top, black jeans, earrings, boots or sneakers.. okay you get the general idea. Since I was already dating x-girlfriend at the time, shopping for female clothes during the holiday, was supper easy, if anyone asked me.. I just said I'm getting these clothes for my girlfriend, and it worked like a charmed.    Another to get past the fear without leaving home, you can try online shopping, you would need to measure waist area, and height .. this might come with trial and error since there is no dressing room.

I'm not sure how much you can really help anyone, but I have enjoyed opening my house up to trans people this year.   Including myself, there have been 4 transgender people living in my one bedroom house.  And there is one cis gendered male here.  All of us have experienced homelessness.  Not just a couple days either, but significant homelessness.  Since I was homeless for 4 years 20 years ago, I've always wanted to be in a position where I could open up my house like this.  For whatever reason, I am the only trans person in the house right now, but it seems that others are on the way.  I have a desire to keep my house running like this for the foreseeable future.   I had a retired Scientologist counselor helping me out when I was in my 4 year homeless period.  I can't even imagine how I would have survived without her.  When I was living in those cars and vans, I'd have periods of a week or two where I'd stay with her and have adventures.  I'd get some better food.  She was on SSI, so we would go to the food bank.  I got turned onto cauliflower from the food bank.  I'd get my laundry done and then I'd have some time studying on the computer.  I slept on the living room floor with a sleeping bag.  My Dirty Pot and Igotarock compositions where made on the floor of that apartment.  I just put my gear on the floor and recorded my bass sitting on the floor.  I had made the drum machine parts while I was sleeping in my GEO Metro.  She kicked my out on New Years Eve going into 2004.  I had just been a mad scientist doing math and that was the best thing for me at the time.  a/b=c/d   So yes, you can help if you use some balance with it.

@awkward-yet-sweet I hope you get to go on the trip! I'm assuming from what you wrote that your husband is a trucker. I know what it's like to have diesel in your veins, to sit in a cab for hours on end enjoying the scenery and listening to the music of a big engine, it's pretty awesome and there's nothing quite like it.   @Birdie When ya gotta go, ya gotta go! I hope your state laws catch up with reality one day, but I won't hold my breath waiting.   Well, we might have a bit of an awkward situation happening here soon. It's our 40th anniversary this July and last week we finally decided to do something to celebrate it by going on an interstate getaway to a city which we love, Hobart. Flights are booked and paid for, accommodation in a nice hotel booked, a day cruise while we are there booked and paid for, etc. Meanwhile, our son and DIL dropped in yesterday with our 2mo granddaughter. We told them that we finally got off our behinds and booked a trip and everyone was happy. Then, they told us about our granddaughters' baptism which was organized for June 9th. No worries, we'll be there!    Fast forward a few hours and DIL contacted us to say that June 9th was off because one of the God parents isn't available, and the *only* alternative is for the weekend that we are away! Grrrr! So why couldn't they choose a later date? Because baby might grow out of her outfit by then! I know what will probably happen, there will be a heated discussion and to keep the peace we will once again cave in to the demands of others who never stop wanting a piece of us and we will end up canceling our trip.   First world problem I know, but we're getting pretty frustrated since my retirement last year that we can't seem to do anything for ourselves for more than a day or two at a time.
