Came Out To My Brother

Hi everyone!

My brother has been out visiting the last few days. We've had lots to talk about. He and my sister-in-law have been helping me out from time to time, so I decided to let him know I was seeing a therapist. Well, this left a bit of a mystery to him as to WHY I was seeing a therapist, so I had him meet her. They briefly met, then he went and did other stuff while I was in session. After telling my therapist about some of the conversations my brother and I were having, she suggested that I go ahead and fill him in on everything. I was reluctant to do so, as he has quite a bit to deal with at home, but it was obvious he was curious about me.

Well, last night we watched a Moody Blues concert DVD, then afterwards I went into a pretty lengthy discussion with him. He ACCEPTS me for who I am! However, he is not really very familiar with GD, GID, nor transgenderism (hope that is a valid non-offensive word), but he did tell me that he had several talks with my mom many years ago about me and my differences, so it wasn't exactly a surprise to him.

Can't wait to tell my therapist how this went!

That is wonderful news Opal. I am glad he is accepting of you. He even discussed your differences with your mom a long time ago means they already had their suspicions about you. That should make you very happy to know that they knew something but still loved you all the same.

There were obviously clues years ago...now he can put 2+2 togethre and clear up lots of things in his head!

Hi again!

My brother just left a couple of hours ago. He is not one for hugging, but I hugged him anyway. I started choking up, and tearing up, so he went ahead and left. Was a wonderful visit, but nothing like we expected!
