Father's Day

As I was deciding which skirt to wear to my daughter's house for a Father's Day celebration, I was thinking how different my life has become in a year. And I am always going to be the father of my childeren as I sired them, but they accept me 100% and insist I always be myself.

We ate a wonderful meal and then when to Border's Book store. As I checked out, of course the clerk was polite and asked me "Ma'am? Do you have your discount card?" Then at the end said,'Thank you Ma'am.' My daughter and her husband were behind me and they saw that I am now in the world as I have always been meant to be. It was good. And the gentleman in front of me held the door open for me. I thanked him and he said "you are welcome - no problem ma'am."

All in all a good Father's Day and I would not trade my having chidren for anything - even that earlier transition I might have had. It's a different world for me now, but something has remained constant - love between me and my children!

Lizzy...that is so powerful.

So wonderful...no, there's no denying that you sired the children in your past life and I truly admire you for being so up front with that. Truly beautiful children, too.

I know that you're proud of them and I know that in your heart you would rather been their mother, you're now both...

You deserve every bit of pride that you carry for them. You're a remarkable woman, a beautiful human being and I love you to pieces!

Happy Father's Day, Girlfriend...

You said: I would not trade my having children for anything - even that earlier transition I might have had.

I have been catching myself wishing that I had proceeded with things when I was 22. In then somewhat begrudgingly (make that selfishly) have to acknowledge the fact that if I had my kids wouldn't be here and then catch myself resenting them. Now the two that know have treated me wonderfully (one just came by for a Father's day hug!)

I am trying to get over myself, and your post was oil on troubled waters.

Twice today I have read posts by you mentioning how men now treat you in public. If I feel like I'm not moving along at a good clip, you are there to show patience rewards.

You are truly impressive in a number of ways.

Thanks

That's excellent! I've had this discussi0on many times with my trans friends. How cis-gendered people totally take for granted everytime they are called "ma'am", "miss", "lady", or "sir", "dude", or "guy", while trans folks cherish each and every one. Cis-folks don't even think twice about about it, but I, even 3 1/2 years in, still stop and inhale it like I just passed a fresh blooming garden.

I am so glad that you had a wonderful father's day, Lizzy.

You deserve a good day every now and then.

Today was a day of work as usual and constant reminders of my presenting male and the fact that I have no children - I have no one but you always tell me that it will change and I am trusting you because of the type of person you are, caring and loving.

Happy Father's Day, Girlfriend - you are a very special person.

Love ya,

Sally

What a wonderful day for you!

Having your children to share your day your own way and all that appropriate gender response too!

You deserve every second of it because both are the are the result of the care and love you have invested in your life!

Have you considered adopting an older child? I mean really older. Like a few years older than you?

You're sweet and supportive and just like the mom I always wanted. I'd be willing to bring out my inner child and be childish childlike for you.

But you should know my inner child is a brat! Some people never grow up-I'm still looking for my shadow.

How awesome, Lizzy! Our children will always be our children, come what may. We need to remember that sometimes more than they do.

That's what Father's day should be. Even now that I am really able to show my true gender, I can honor my children as they honor me. Yes- they forget how important thay are to us, and we need to remember to tell them how much we love them - even when they are saying it to us.

Lizzy

Oh "presenting male" means some of us are not able to be ourselves at work so we continue 'presenting male' as best we can. Usually our coworkers assume we are just gay.

I am glad you had such a great one. I think though, that there needs to be a gender neutral day to honor our parents.

Actually that's a super idea....

Many people are raised by aunts, grand parents, step parents, brothers & sisters and even strangers...

It could be all inclusive...

But, don't hold your breath.....

Excuse me, Sally, but I'm new. 'Presenting male?'

I'm sorry, I just saw this - presenting male means that U was dressed in men's clothes and looking as male as I can for my work, I am not out to them and as I am leaving at the end of this week it doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.

I hate presenting male and people calling me sir even when I am presenting male is like daggers in my heart and my current level of loneliness doesn't need any reminders that I have no children or anyone else.

I hope that helps a little, I am sorry that Father's Day was not the great holiday that it should have been for everyone.

Love ya,

Sally

You’re welcome, Vidanjali. Now I have to actually start writing!

Society is preserved by passing on proper roles for people, which works for the 90+ percent that it works for.   We were all taught from an early age that breaking out of the classification was a shameful thing, even when, actually, it is not.
    • Abigail Genevieve
I'm probably showing my age.  I haven't looked at a guest count in a long time.  Doing FB and staying off forums for a while.  Previous forum use had fewer bots if any and guests were actual people, mostly, unlike today.    Any AIs or bots struggling with GD are welcome.  I would love to read your introduction.

I've seen this on a lot of forums tbh. That's how a lot of content ends up on internet archives. You've got loads of bots scanning the site at all times and archiving it. Forums are actually nice (in comparison to social media) in that the guest count gives you a pretty good idea of how actively the site's content is being archived. Basically just don't post anything you don't want archived.

Kids are resiliant with therapy and strong support ;-)    They were all elementary age when their dad died and are teens now, and how they've grown and developed as young people, already, takes my breath away.   I'm working on communicating changes clearly and without shame, which is difficult basically all the time because of feeling guilty over doing gender "wrong" for so long. Working on that myself! <3

Allow me to add that people should think twice about posting pictures of themselves, with the facial recognition software that is out there.  Those in stealth or who are not fully out may discover they are suddenly and unwillingly fully out in ways they wish had not happened.

Funny how when i read the topic name i thought you were asking about the study of plants and animals.  I'm a bit into that as a farmer at va time when a cell phone makes plant  for insect identification easier than it has ever been.    Now on to your topic.  I don't farm in the nude.  I have wondered at whether i would skinny dip as i did as a kid without thought of how my body might affect others.  The effects of hormones makes me different from the average person and perhaps i'm "neither fish nor fowl".  I would certainly depend on who my fellow passengers on that cruise would be.   Hugs,   Charlize

This is also a relatively small forum and it can take a long time, seemingly, for someone to get around to replying to a post.
    • Charlize
I am also pretty sure that several of them are folks who are "trans curious".  Sometimes folks who are trying to find their own identity, are attracted to trans folks or who are simply interested in the trans community.   There may also be some who wish to do us harm which is why ......... I've just learned to smile figuring "i'm on candid camera".   I'm sure many of our younger members never experienced that show so my age is showing.   Hugs,   Charlize

Most of those "guests" are web bots from China, Indonesia, France etc. looking us over. They are mostly benign.  All they can see or gain access to are the general forums.  Members should be careful not to post anything that could readily identify themselves such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. They do not have access to our gallery, blogs or private messenger. They seem to haunt all forums. Not just us. I should add that they can make us known across the internet. That's how prospective members find us. Google would be a good example.
