Slipping Up On My Diet

Guest Opal

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I've been having trouble the past two or three days sticking to my diet. I've been able to lose quite a bit since March of this year, but still have quite a ways to go. Just weighed in at 235, hope to make it to 190 or so.

Food has been such a source of comfort to me in the past, just can't let it take over my life again.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Hugs,

Opal

It's okay to make mistakes and mess up sometimes, as long as you don't let it get you down too much. Just start on again and move on :)

Opal,

I know exactly how you feel, dear. But I see it as a long term thing, weight loss. As long as you are consistently heading down and don't let the ups go too far up, you'll be okay. Don't bet yourself up for eating. That only leads to (strangely) more eating.

That happens Opal. Just let it go and get back on course. I slipped up for a couple weeks and didn't lose anything, but when I realize that losing weight is a goal for physical transition. The quicker I get to the right level the quicker I will be able to start transitioning. That is enough for me to get back on track because it's easy to become depressed if I don't.

Good Luck on losing weight. You have to have patience under any circumstance.

Guest i is Sam :-)

oh wow have i ever been bad with my diet lately, my weight have virtually stood still for 2 months now. I guess i just kinda got worn out of staying to keep self control. i have to sort myself out, but telling myself that doesn't seem to make it any easier. still, going to go out running in a little bit, have a low calorie meal planned for tonight. I've gotten really bad with snacking into the evening again, have to drag myself out of that habit again.

Eat a meal at mealtimes, finish it with a piece of fruit, and then that's it, stop eating. no snacks till next meal time.

Hi Opal,

The good news is that slipping up sometimes can rev your metabolism and actually speed weight loss.

Sometimes your body is saying "Feed me now or I'll go into starvtaion mode"-you know where you eat a teaspoon a day with a glass of water and gain weight .

So just enjoy a little slip now and then and celebrate all those days you don't slip.

Opal, Hon......

All good advice.....

Slipping up on a diet or quitting smoking isn't the end ....

It's just a speed bump....

Just keep going, Dear......OK?

HUGGS!

Although food has been a source of comfort to me in the past, it doesn't begin to compare with the love and support all of you provide here! I had a small salad for lunch, and plan on going out for a walk after a while.

Thanks again for all your kindness and support! The people at Laura's are the silver lining to the cloud of TG.

Big Hugs,

Opal

Oh, and I found the most wonderful snack food! Pickled Asparagus! So yummy and you can eat a bunch and it's almost no calories and not too bad with sodium.

OMG, GIN!

I LOVE THAT STUFF!

Little jars about 6" tall with small asparagus spears....

YUMMY x2

And don't forget the "Donna Jean Popsicle Bypass.."!

Buy those little Tupperware Popsicle trays at the supermarket (about $1.49 ea.)

Fill with artificially sweetened Koolaid and freeze!

I can sit and eat 12...they're 5 calories each...so 12 is about the same as one apple!

That pickled asparagus sounds wonderful! Two years ago I had a surplus of green beans from the garden, so a friend pickled them with a little garlic thrown in. Yum!

Well, went on my walk, and after I got back I put on a pair of jeans that I hadn't been able to wear in over a year! Now, if the 'love handles' would just scooch over and up a ways...

Hugs,

Opal
