First off yes...I know I'm a goody-two shoes nerd-a-sorous rex.

Anyway, there's a old lady on a breathing machine that lives next door to me. She can barely walk to her door and unlock it. She has house maids come and help her clean and cook but that's it...and I've never once seen her family members come and help her. We met a few times before I started helping her out in her home. The first few time's we met was well she was trying to get in the door with her wheelchair. I jumped in, helped her unlock the door and held it open for her. She also dropped a few things and I picked them up for her. One day we hear a knock at our door(and we live in a apartment so that was rather odd, we would usually get a ring) and it was the little old lady I helped a few times. She asked me to clean her deck so I did so and she paid me two dollars; it wasn't about the money as I know is not much, it was just about being kind to the people who have a hard time taking care of themselves. I feel a duty to step in if needed. After I helped I gave her my phone number in case she never needed me. Since then I've been helping her with little things. She calls me her "son" and says "love you" like a mother would now.

She's been getting me to check her 649 when I go to the store. The older lady who was there knew I was helping the little old lady next door. That lady retired and now a new one took over the gambling stall. She said she wouldn't risk selling/checking 649's for me because its her new job and I look younger then my ID says. I can't count how many times I've been turned down even with my ID. I really hate it. I've been legal for drinking and gambling for 2 years and a few weeks in Canada...1 year and few weeks in the USA. :angry: How can one fend for themselves if its a 50-50 chance your own ID gets shot down? It's not like I drink or gamble, but my family likes to go to bars for chips and fries, or wants me to buy tickets with/for them pretty often and it fails. I tried to buy smokes for my step sister and got shot down...it's just frustrating sometime, you know?

Sorry, needed to rant among people who could understand...

Ummm..go ahead and take my youthful looks. At lest I wont be embarrassed anymore by my ID being turned down all the time.

I still get carded for my bros cig... even when I don't shave. Then again, maybe they are supposed to do that.

I can relate. I once went to judge a speech contest at a junior high and was mistaken for a contestant. I was over 20.

And I was carded in every bar I went to well into my 30s. Last time I was nearly 40!!

But I looked in my 20s when I was in my 40s and 30s in my 50s.

Then sun and health caught up wit me. But those few years it bothered me were so worth it for those decades all my friends were jealous of me and I could get away with wearing anything I chose

I went into a Gamestop and they asked my mum if the Mature game I was buying was alright...

I pulled my ID out right away to PROVE that I was 19 just because I didn't want that guy thinking that I was NOT old enough to get it on my own...

I know your frustrations. But in a way it's a good thing because you'll young when you're older :P

It confuses me that they would turn down your ID if it's legit... :huh:

(you're also in Canada but still...)

I look young too. I'm 19, and I know when I'm 21 I'll need to be carded plenty (already am when I buy lotto tickets)... but I can't see being turned down despite my ID...

I'm not the type to enjoy going out much so when I do then getting embarrassed is the last thing I want. As for my ID getting turned down - I assume they think it's fake but they don't say that to my face. Most of them just say "we can't take the risk, sorry."

Isn't there a way to tell that it's NOT a fake? I know that IDs here you can tell if they are fake if you look closely enough.

Yeah, it's clearly not fake but they don't take the time to try to disprove it as fake. I never push the subject with them because I am not aggressive in public - over the phone or computer is another thing. If I wanted to push the subject then I guess I could ask them what they mean by not taking a risk etc and try to get the manager...but then I'd have to make a scene each time this happens. Which is another thing I dislike - I don't like attention out in public.

Grr! People like that drive me nuts! Someone that is working in costumer service should take the time to do just that. You go there for a reason and well they should take the time instead of being like "nope sorry" <_<

It's okay. Just be who you are. If you don't like to put up a """fuss""" then don't. I can do it for you :P (not really... I would just walk away too...).

I'm the same way so I get it. :)

I got carded to get my ears pierced and my teenage son was with me!!!

Did I get mad? Absolutely not...I am thirty-nine and someone thought I looked younger than 18...

I did a little dance in my head then just smiled and laughed as I showed her my ID...

I'm 21 and on occasion I still get ID'd buying 15-certificate films. :( Definitely have to get ID out for anything 18-rated. But yeah, I'm biding my time until it becomes useful looking younger than I am - got to look on the positive side of things. :P

People give me funny looks over my ID but I've never been turned down. I think people in the US don't care if it is fake. It's like they did their job just by asking and checking. At most, I've seen a cashier hold it up so they can see the security mark (which is near impossible to fake) and that ends it. People occasionally comment on how I don't look 32, to which I reply that I've age well. The fact I've got some gray hair probably helps.

Still... it's pretty annoying. I'd rather not have to talk about my age all the stinking time. Frustrating.

My mother gets a real big kick out of it -

I went to a base ball game last month, and they had a thing for kids 14 and under to run the bases. I'm 16. I was talking to this lady, and she asked if I was going to do it and my mom comes up "Hahahahaha! How old do you think he looks?" and she was guessing 12-14... Same thing happens when I go to walmart and get my hair done. And I had Christmas pictures done at the end of 09, this has been my 1st year living full time as a boy so I kinda wanted to get my 1st official picture done as 'Lewis' :) So anyway I go there and the lady thought I was 12...

It drives me nuts. But then, hopefully I'll catch up to other boys my age soon after I go on T...

I actually don't have much of a problem with age, which is weird because I'm not on T at all.

I suppose I am to tall to be 12 or 13, and some people just....look.... older than others.

I think you look pretty close to your age, though. Don't you have lots of facial hair too? I'm jealous.

Yeah I've noticed that if you're tall people automatically take you as older. Obviously there are other factors but I have a tall cousin and he's always been read as older than me when in truth he's 4 years younger. Me, I'm a shorty. :P

I am 34 and got ID'd to buy fireworks. That was a suprise to me but I will take it. Once you get to a certain age than you realize looking young is good.

      Wow, Birdie, I hope you get better soon.  At least the nurses figured out that you're not their standard patient.  Hopefully they treat you right.     I wish my husband would replace our stoves.  Of course we use propane, being way out of town, but they're old.  They are supposed to use a battery igniter, but one hasn't worked in years.  There's actually a hole sawed in the bottom plate of the oven where I stick a match.  And the other one had some sort of valve problem, and couldn't get the parts.  I was hoping for a new stove, but I got to watch in awe and dismay as my husband made a "something" with a piece cut from a roll of bulk automotive gasket material.  It works, no leaks.  But I swear we don't replace anything here until it is absolutely dead.  With my luck, that will be another 20 years on those stoves.      I don't complain much, but I wish I had some nicer kitchen things.  Nobody understands that if I'm serving dinner for 36 people, cooking on sheetmetal plates or using stuff from a 1980s junkyard is a bit....suboptimal.  When I mention it, I get lengthy apocalyptic tales of the deprived life in Argentina or Mexico or "In Soviet Union, stove cooks you..."  Thanks, GF.  Or maybe I'm just too spoiled?

      I do the best I can to 'Pass' and I think I have become better at feminizing my appearance ... But, I have also come to realize that no matter how much I feel I pass, it's more up to the individual I interact with than with my efforts and appearance. If they are self-aware humans they will see me as I truly am ... and then I will receive a compliment, or a 'Ma'am', or just a friendly smile.  That's all I really need.

      In my case, at almost 9 months, most changes have been very subtle. I was 60 when I started, and overweight. Also, I am not very observant when it comes to changes. In the last 3 months I have been on T blockers and breast growth have definitely started having suffered irregular "ouchies", but at the same time I have been slowly losing fat, so Bust measurements have not changed. What has changed in the density, I can feel a difference. Face wise the skin feels softer, and my lashes seem to be more visible. Head hair regrowth is a maybe- maybe not situation.  I do have to select men's clothing carefully to camouflage the change in breast shape. I guess I'm still at the not passable as a female stage especially with no makeup. I'm also over 6 foot and well over 100kgs which I guess is problematic to start with!   Hope this helps somewhat   Kate .

      I started feminizing HRT about 6-7 weeks ago. I began with what I called the beginner's patch. I immediately found myself wanting to level up to the next dose and did that this week (yay!). So far, I am enjoying the ride.   I've read everything I can find on this topic. For the HRT vets on here, what is reasonable to expect in terms of physical changes for someone starting in their 50s? I know "your mileage may vary." I guess I am curious if I stay on my current trajectory for six months, a year, multiple years, how pronounced will the physical changes be? Will I reach a point where it is totally obvious or will I land in a "middle zone" somewhere in which I could pass either way?   Thanks! Like I said I am enjoying the ride so far and always curious to know others' experiences. Not sure anyone else in my life will be excited about these moves I am making, but I have been over that in many places on here already so need to rehash... Love and blessings to all!   Easy

      Being admitted into the hospital after a long ER visit. I started passing lots of blood and they are keeping me for observation.    Nurse came in to see about a condom catheter, that of course doesn't work on me. 🤣   She said, "I guess we will use incontinence supplies on you."

      Yeah.  I think this is what it is about.  Since they are not transgender, nobody else could possibly be either.  I'm not sure that a cisgender person can understand being transgender.  But that hardly means that a transgender person's experience is not real - just because it is not theirs. Why is a transgendered person's experience not valid, while a cisgendered person's is?  Why should it be the cisgendered person that decides? Nobody is forcing a cis person to transition.  What I do for myself is my own business.

      Decided to head for Lowes after work early and bought a new stove.Was in stock and put it back of my truck.Luckily a neighbor of mine whom does appliance repair did come to remove the connection and convert the stove to natural gas in the new one.Was set up for propane.Happy with it and the scrap metal guy came to pick up my old one.He was happy to get it,said he needed one more to make it a load in his trailer full of junk appliances

      I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.

      I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.
