Whats Better Tea With Sugar, Pop Or Coffee

The question is simple.

What's better for you? I am aware their all bad so I am looking for the lesser of the evils. Sugar is my only bad habit.

So when I crave for something to drink, rather then water, whats better to go to? Tea with caffeine or not(depends on what brand I have) and sugar, pop or coffee with sugar?

Zolrek, I don't think there is any one good answer to your question. I suppose that de-caffeinated tea or coffee, with no sugar or a sugar substitute, is better than a caffeinated drink with sugar. But if you try hard enough, you can probably find something wrong with all of the choices.

Sugar free soft drinks, diet iced tea and coffee (have to have my mug at work to start the day) are my habits.

Thanks for the answer, CM.

I can't drink tea or coffee without sugar. I just want to enjoy a drink like everyone else does - but I always feel guilty thinking I'm having too much sugar daily. I think if I only drank water my life would be rather dull because I don't drink alcohol either.

Diet anything usually has worse things for you then the normal brands.

You know that might be a good idea. I should look into how people who are diabetic and/or allergic to sugar drink. I'm sure it's 100x better then what I drink.

I drink a lot of fruit juice. Very sweet. I love coca cola, and rarely can I get myself to drink water. Chocolate milk is also good, better than regular milk.

Only thing you have to make sure with juice is that it's real juice. They put Dole and Welch's right next to each other for about the same price, and they taste about the same, but Dole is 100% juice and Welch's is only 30%. =(

I say decaf tea is probably best for you, but I say you can drink any of those... in moderation. With plenty of other drinks thrown in. I think "lesser of evils" is not as important as "balance out the evils with goods." Because then they're not that evil.

Even though I need to cut back on my Coca Cola consumption myself... been drinking it a bit too much this summer.

That's a good thought. I just need to control myself when it comes to sugar although it's hard when it's the first thing you reach too when you get thirsty.

Yeah...cutting out the cafe would at lest be one step closer to "healthier".

My vote is tea sweetened with honey.

Soda is evil, vile and wrong ... I should probably quit drinking it then.

I've just read a horrible article which makes me sadly need to give up Diet Coke (due to the Aspartame, which is somewhat evil). I actually drink coffee black and tea with nothing except some lemon, perhaps. I think we over sweeten things as a rule. Coffee and tea actually taste good all by them selves (if they are of good quality). If you must sweeten, think about using a Stevia product.

I usually drink my tea black (or if I have milk, a little bit of milk). I never add sugar, or drink coffee, so I can't really recommend either of those.

You could try water with a slice of lemon at the bottom. That's probably better for you than adding sugar, and it tastes good.

If you absolute must have sugar, I'd go with the tea option. Especially if you make it yourself then you can control just how much sugar is added, unlike soda and other commercially available products.

Though honestly, who would want to drink tea with sugar? It's like drinking tea cold. Madness! :P

I can't say one over the other because when I make coffee or tea I add a ton of sugar to it. They might have more sugar in the end than a soda would.

I am diabetic and also on a diet so sugared drinks are out of the question, i drink lots of bottled spring water, i put crystal light on the go packets in it, the tea, raspberry lemonaide and lemonade are my favorites and have only 5 calories per packet.

i recently found out that soda and diet soda are the worst thing in the world to drink... good yes, but they really screw with your system, and can even make you gain weight. turns out anything with carbon in it actuly is bad for you. also high sodium is also bad due to how it increases the fat cell size and amount of fat carried in those cells so it becomes much harder to lose them. as for the artificial sweetener, anything artificial is bad in general, when we make components that the body is not used too it has trouble breaking them down.

i would probably go with green tea, me personally its been 1 8oz or koolaid and a 8oz of oj, and rest of the day water

Don't just look at the sugar, which is bad, but the other contents of the drinks.

Diet Soda: fake sugars, salts, caramel color - all bad for you.

Coffee and Tea: antioxidants and other vitamins

EC: green tea is an appetite suppressant.

...

I spend too much time reading up on health stuff.

Well, I'll mention a few generalities from web-land that are not necessarily specific to this forum.   Here's some things that can possibly happen:  Disagree with somebody's policy and you just get silenced and eventually disappeared.  Stuff you write vanishes into thin air (and it ain't AI). Threads get shut down for not being "on topic" (a catch-all for when no other rule can be quoted and somebody with power just doesn't agree with you.)  Or if you have a disagreement with somebody (or a few somebodies), they get to mostly say whatever they want, but you get censored.  When it happens over and over again, it has the effect of eventually turning forums into echo chambers.  Some really good forums on the web have withered and vanished over the years because of this.  I have also noticed that the American portion of the internet is increasingly bifurcated, as each partisan side attempts greater control of their own turf.   Given that we're all humans, nobody will have the "absolute" answer to this stuff.  Only more questions, and plenty of philosophy.  I think that one way to measure the health of a forum is to see how acceptable it is to ask questions about policies and their enforcement.  Publicly.  And regarding specific instances as they occur, rather than generalities with specifics kept in the shadows.

Hi @Madelyn Rain - nice to meet you and Welcome!   To answer your question, when I first talked to my Dr about HRT I was in 'boy-mode" - partly because I was not socially out to anybody yet and was not dressing publicly. But my Dr was very accepting and understanding.  He knew I had been in gender therapy for a couple of years and this was likely the next step.  He noted my preferred name, and my gender pronouns (she/her).  He updated my records to indicate this and referred to me as she/her in my medical records. My experience was very positive and I hope yours is also.  Congratulations on your decision to start HRT. Deep breaths .. One step at a time

That's a truly inspirational story ... I love the focus of Zaya's mission - "The question was presented to her as, 'If you have one thing that you want to see change in this community, what would it be?'" Wade recalled. "And for her, it goes right to parents. It goes right to the adults. It goes right to us. It's not the kids. It's us."

I have two bags, both UNIQLO bags just different colors. I’ve become a bit of a shoe girl, though. My willpower and my tenuous employment situation has kept me from buying more though.

I could not agree more or be more appreciative of this. As one who has come out to only a few people, here I can truly be myself with little fear of inadvertent exposure. Having that ability has helped me to find myself and to gain confidence in expressing my true self. It has helped me to love myself, something I could never do before.

I appreciate this so much and it's one of the reasons why this community feels like home - a rare treasure among the world wide web.

As far as things being lost on the Web, accidents happen, Just here alone, I have 20,825 posts showing in my number count, but probably only 19K of them are still actually here to view.  There was a change to a new server a number of years ago, and a segment of the data base they were in became locked and could not be transferred to the new drive in the servers we use now.  Why or how that segment of the data base became locked has not been figured out in the time since but at least we know what happened and it was not intentional or aimed at a single element of behavior here.  Data accidents happen with not one single person really responsible for them or for that matter even the computer itself.  Frustrating as all get out when it happens, but it does happen.  Some other electronics I work on as a hobby had their similar problems here a couple days ago because of the Solar Flares, and power outages or dips in voltage can make electronic life miserable.

This is very true, Jani.  The original owner of this site, Laura, and her chief assistants, developed our community rules more than 15 years ago.  They have been modified many times, to take into account changing tastes, mores, technical issues and legal issues.  Sites such as TikTok and X didn't exist then.  Our naughty word filter, as just one example, has been modified many, many times.   On this site, as on most private sites, in order to become a member one must agree to the T's & C's and abide by, in our case, the "Community Rules."  If you seriously violate those rules your membership can be terminated.  So, yes, freedom of speech here is restricted.  Some sites are lax about enforcement, but that has never been the case here.  We guard the safety of members, and your emotional comfort, zealously.  We aren't perfect and sometimes let things get out of hand, or we go too far with restrictions, but those instances are uncommon (IMO).   Every site has different standards.  Luckily, for every interest there are numerous sites and it's usually easy to find one that fits your needs and temperament.  When it comes to the Internet, one size does not fit all.   Thanks for your question, @Ladypcnj.   Carolyn Marie
