Words

When we are not in the same proximity

My friends' pains weigh so heavy on me

I know that there is so little that I can do

But I reach out and wish only to comfort you

While in the same room I could offer you a hug

Give you hot cocoa with marshmallows in a mug

From a distance we only have words to share

Words to tell you how much I really do care

To take the place of a gentle touch

Words seem to leave out so very much

Words cannot sooth you like my stroking your hair

Or convey all of the warmth and love were I there

Yet words are the only tools from a distance so far

So much better to grab a plane or even drive my car

But time and funding always stand in my way

So I ask you to listen to what I try to say

Searching for words from all of the dialects I know

They lack the way for this feeling to correctly show

Now as I start to set pen to paper and endeavor to write

I love you all with all of my heart and all of my might

When you find yourself in that pit filled with despairs

Reach up to take the hand offered by a friend who cares

A force ancient and older than time

Offered without any reason or rhyme

From one person to another with no added strings

Truly one of this world's most wonderful things

It is not simply a gift but something more

That has fueled all of this world's lore

It is the greatest power on Earth it seems

To motivate our lives and even our dreams

So when you are feeling alone and oh so down

Remember how much I love you so do not frown

My love for you will always be there

As abundant and plentiful as the air

You will never be truly alone ever again for I am at your sides

To stay with you forever as constant as the Moon and the tides

Wonderful poem honey.

Though don't place all your faith in those words, there is a lot being said just by being there for someone.

Kinda like all those nights when we were up late on Skype and didn't say much, just knowing that you were there meant a lot to me.
