How hot is it?

It's Soooo Hot ...

The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

The trees are whistling for the dogs.

The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

Hot water now comes out of both taps.

You can make sun tea instantly.

You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

The temperature drops below 95 F and you feel a little chilly.

You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.

You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 am.

Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end

up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"

You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out

and add butter, salt and pepper, and of course sour cream.

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from

laying boiled eggs.

The cows are giving evaporated milk.

In southern Ontario, its so hot, its a capital crime to even think of turning the oven.

Pollution from the Ohio Valley, makes the sky look pretty, in a yellowish-brown way.

Just stand outside, for 1 minute at 4 am, while ringing out your shirt and get a full cup of water back.

Even the Camels are refusing to move, at the Toronto Zoo.

Sounds like a nice winter's day here in Phoenix

A winter day in Phoenix, ha... everyone is waling around in winter coats, ear muffs and gloves, that was in February, i was in short sleves.

It might be 120 but it's a dry heat... yea right, 120 is a 120.

BTW i might be out in Phoenix for training at the end of August, i guess i better plan on bringing cool clothes.

It is really hot and humid here in CT too. Been getting a lot of severe thunderstorms here also. We even have had tornadoes touch down in CT (extremely rare to have tornadoes in New England).

End of August? That's usually when we're stringing along a record number of triple-digit days over 110. Fun! As far as "dry heat" goes, we have this thing here called the Monsoon which is currently delivering 20-30% humidity along with our heat. It's like Florida...but hot.

Here? 93 (feels like 107), according to weather.com. It also helpfully notes "Dangerous heat index. Outdoor exposure should be limited."

You poem describes this summer well. =)

I had to mow today and I was dripping with sweat before I even got to the backyard. I love the heat but sometimes it is a little too much around here.

Been way too many extreme heat and heat warnings, for southern Ontario. Thought, I had moved the southern United States, but it just your weather moving north of the Canada/US border. Definitately not a fair trade for the wintertime. Sheesh.

What about frying eggs on the sidewalk (I've actually seen that done)

But Dee Jay honey-you aren't mowing in this heat are you?

It makes it a little warm for that Kevlar vest you need to wear and those tractor seats can burn a fanny in a flash! although the bugs might be crunchy and better sun fried

!00 degrees here right now and due to keep heating for 3 more hours. Think I'll throw a cake in a pan and a roast and some potatoes in another and put them in the sun to bake for supper. While I soak in the cool lake.

It's been so wet here that the airports are only allowing planes with pontoons to land.

It's been so wet here that the ducks are packing for the southwest.

It's been so wet here that rental car agencies have switched to boats

It's been so wet here that all the ponds have disappeared, the Department of Natural Resources has reclassified them as lakes.

It's been so wet here that the Federal Corps of Engineers are building levees using the Lousianna blueprint.

Actually, we lost power last night at 6 and DTE is saying they'll get it back 'tonight after 9:30 pm' Ha! Large parts of two trees came down in our side yard, our pool is now a leaf pond, I hear a lot of Chicago is under lots of water. We probably got 2-4 inches in one downpour. I know our pool is about 4" higher than it was on Wednesday.

We have a (smallish) generator running now to power some things, noisy, smelling thing, but at least our fridge and freezer are good. Took 2 hours this morning to get it to work. No running water tho (except from the clouds) - that's always a problem in the country when you're on your own well.

Oh what the heck, everybody come at once. Just bring a tent!

Have Tent-Will Pitch

Thanks for the invite. Is there a campsite on that blissfully cold beach? I probably would have enough latent heat surrounding me to warm the environment several degrees:)

Well, my wife and I just finsihed up doing a fair here. We were in a building that had a tin roof and one small exhaust fan. Oh, we had our personal fans, but.... the only thing blowing was hot air. The temp in the building was about 115 degrees. Plus, my heat press runs 350-400. Add all of that and the fact that we sat there from 10am till 9pm and you can see that we were better cooked than Kentucky fried chicken. LOL

I work at a restaurant at a water park for my summer job and we were incredibily slow yesterday compared to a normal Sunday. Apparently, it was even too hot to go to the water park here.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining,

the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing,

and the lawn mower is broken.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.

@Birdie You certainly have more patience than I do.  I don't take it well if I get scolded.  Either I sulk or I get nippish.    We had a good Mother's Day here yesterday.  Quite an event, since 4 of my partners are mothers.  GF enjoys it a lot, because she's very (excessively?) proud of having produced her 5 kids.  Her eldest starts school this fall.  Amazing how time flies...
