Odd Things At My Job

Sally

Recommended Posts

Well, I had promised everyone updates since moving to the Big Easy, but first it was job hunting and now it is working, so this morning I staggered out of the couch (still don't have my bed set up) and worked my way upstairs to my computer to talk to my sweet Donna Jean - she has left for work and I am still awake for a few more minutes, I don't go until 10.

When I first went to the store to see if I could transfer in or just have to look elsewhere Lizzy drove me (I didn't have a car), she had just come home from work where she thinks that she presents male.

After I was hired the man that we had talked to that evening asked me how my wife was doing, this caught me off guard because I did not remember talking about my ex and then the light came on - he meant Lizzy!

Even in male mode she passes as female so easily now.Early Sunday morning (6AM) we went into the store to rearrange my department and the tasks were being divided to suit everyone's abilities - I was given the task of placing sign holders that were out of reach for everyone else.

Then my boss shouted, "I have your next job - I need the blue film pealed off of about twenty of these plastic shelf clips - you've got the nails so you are doing it."

So my nails have been noticed already.

Then last night just before 9PM - closing time - I looked up and saw a tall, attractive lady walking toward me, it was Lizzy, she had been shopping in the mall and just dropped by to say hello and give me a quick hug.

They are not going to know what to make of me - effeminate male, gay male, trans or someday just female.

Love ya,

Sally

This is too funny Sally. So how is your wife doing these days?

This is a good thing that they have notices. That way as you slowly start doing more and more it wont be a suprise to them.

Then last night just before 9PM - closing time - I looked up and saw a tall, attractive lady walking toward me, it was Lizzy, she had been shopping in the mall and just dropped by to say hello and give me a quick hug.

I am so happy you have her in your life know. Like I said before it was fate for you two to meet on Laura's and then Memphis.

They are not going to know what to make of me - effeminate male, gay male, trans or someday just female.

They will love you all the same as I do. You are a wonderful woman and they will see that.

By the way let me say that I am so happy for you right now. I wish I was there to give you a big hugg.

Congrats on getting a job. I hope it works out for you.

Gratz, Baby, on the job...I wish that you were off your feet more, though....

But, overall for the short time that you've been there, you're doing wonderful!

Oh, and give your sweet wife a hugg for me....ok?

HUGGS!

How about a really valuable employee? Yes, that is how they need to view you. That is wonderful that you and Lizzy have each other, and this has worked out for both of you.

Huggs,

Opal

Thanks Davie! And don’t worry, I didn’t take it that way. It’s just such a big topic I can only hope to tackle it one bit at a time.

This is not uncommon.  I started out going to the therapist in androgynous clothing: from the women's department, but plausibly masculine.  What made it easier was when I started going to a trans peer support group.  Most of the people there were presenting fully feminine, so I looked out of place in my androgynous clothing.  The peer pressure made it easier to dress in skirts.   I started out changing in a gender-neutral bathroom near the meeting room.  But I soon started wearing skirts in the car to and from the meetings.   Yes, it was nerve-wracking at first, but I soon realized that no one was looking and no one cared.    You can do this.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.
