Hello everyone.

Okay, I guess I'm just whining, but achieving resonance is really hard. I am currently doing the exceptional voice program for voice and all I can say is I really have my work cut out for me.

But you know what, I'm worth fighting for. Amy is worth fighting for and the more I practice the more I express who I am. I just wish I didn't spend the last 29 yrs pretending to be someone who I am not.

I am woman, hear me roar (random: "Rawr is how dinosaurs say 'I love you').

I feel your pain, Amy. It really is hard. I started practicing in my truck on the way to and from work, and am not even close.

But the tape says it takes weeks or even months, so don't give up, and I won't either. It is doable, I know it is.

I forget where it is, but there is a great couple of strings on voice and resonance. They helped me tremendously - you follow all the suggestons there, watch the youtube videos, and practice - well, it all comes together.

One of the tricks I use is to squeeze a little from the diaphragm so the air moves through the chest too quickly to resonate there. It seems to work well. Two of the sisters I met on my trip asked me if I had taken professional voice lessons because I had my voice. (also thanks gin - you were right, my voice did come)

It is really hard if one is trying to go back and forth between male/female sound with voice. Some can, but most I know don't find it so easy to do guy voice once they got it working. So if one is part time it will be difficult.

In most circumstances I would estimate that 6 months to a year full time is needed for voice to really settle assuming one makes a genuine effort. This would be to get it to a point where it works over the phone.

So no need to get disheartened after a few weeks or even a few months. It may start working without you even realize sometime after you get to the point where you are sure it never will.

Well, my voice wasn't too bad, but it was definately not female sounding, I worked hard for two years almost, CD programs, and practice in the car while commuting - and hoped the HRT would help. It got sorta good - and I was doing a good bit better passing

BUT

I went full time except at work. Living full time and using the voice you want full time makes all the difference in the world. I even have the voice at work now - gradually introduced - so that works too. It becomes second nature and now I have to work to get a male voice... so I don't - grin.

I just did my first 'Beyond the Fundementals' disk vis exceptional voice. My voice feels great.

Resonance is hit or miss when I first start warming up still, but I like the results thus far. I hope to go full time this year with my voice changing gradually at work (as per Elizebeth's example).
