Anyone Else In A Band?

I just wanted to see how many others there are here that are in a band. I'm in my second band so far. I was in one when I was 17, that didn't last very long. We only recorded a couple of songs. The one I'm in right now I have been in for about 5 years. We have recorded 3 albums and toured twice. We're based out of St. Louis and always tour east from there to the coast and back. I'm the lead vocalist for my band. So who else is playing? What do you play? Come on musicians! Make yourself known!

No, no longer in a band, but I was for 35 years!

I played lead, rythm, drums, cello, banjo and fidle (a violin from further south...lol).

I rarely ever go into a bar or club anymore..got burned out after all of those years...

I played Classical, Rock, country and some other formats.....

Rachael, it had become my lifestyle at the time...I lived and breathed it!

Actually arthritis in my hands ended my playing career or I'd probably still have my fingers into it!

Good luck to you and your band mates!

HUGGS!

I am :] it's an experimental/avant-garde thing. The band [more like a project, maybe] is pretty much one main person, me, a guitarist and usually 2-5 additional people that constantly change. I really have no idea how long the band itself has been active, but I joined about 3 years ago, maybe. Not even sure.

I play bass mostly, used to be lead guitar. But if we have an idea, we really play anything from duduk to plastic pipes. Some underground people know the main guy [since he has done a lot of stuff in the scene], but the biggest concert I remember was basically 50 goth people that had no idea what was going on... :D

Seriously... sometimes people come because "it's avant-garde, so that's cool", and the usual result is disappointment, because the music doesn't meet their expectations. In fact, our performance is a total provocation. And that's sort of why I like being a part of it.

I have been in and out of bands since the 70's. Some were lots of fun, some were just gosh dang awful....too many egos.

The band I am in now I have been with for almost 7 years. The longest I have ever been with any group. I play drums and other various forms of percussion. Thats it, no other instruments or singing for me. The only thing that gets mic'ed around me is the drums. We play alot of different genre depending on where we are playing. Classic rock, R&B Soul, Blues, Country, and Beach are probably our core. We cover alot of stuff ranging from 60's to current stuff.

I also play for the Central Carolina Songwriters Association. I have lots of friends that write music. My best friend brought me into the group. She wanted me to play drums for some of her songs that she has written. I have met a lot of very talented people through her, and enjoy helping them showcase their talents.

I have been a sub in drummer/guitarist/guy-who-gets-the-pit-going for many of my friends bands.

Just started up a band with some close friends. We are loud. Hah. I play drums and wrote three of our songs.

Rock on drummers! ^_^

Wish I was in a band, but I don't know anybody around me.

I'd rock with ya, Hon...

We could make music...

I mess around with some industrial/experimental stuff on occasion, with a little input from a good mate of mine, but beyond that I became a musical burnout at 12 when I gave up the guitar

I envy y'all who can play well and actually produce real tracks, props to you :)

I still dream of being in a band, but I haven't any friends who can play... well, anything.

I'm in a band. I play the soundboard. Yes, sound engineers are true musicians! On top of that, I occasionally play the cajon when the drummer can't make it to a gig.

I always tell people I play the band. I do all production(sound and lights ) for Mushroom Bruize that I have been a part of for about 14yrs now plus work with about 3-5 other bands when bruize is not bussy. Have also engineered 3 cd's for bands one was used for sound check at Sturgis a few years ago so that made me feel proud.

I'm technically in a band. We play some combination of improvised blues metal and jazz. Our drummer is going to Australia to study theater, sadly, so we're in hiatus right now.

I sing, too! I'm a bit of a typical 80s metal high-pitched screamer, though. Not many bands forming nowadays that like that vocal style, especially around here. :<

Hey there, just saw this post as I am fairly new here.

Yes I am currently involved in 3 projects here in the Seattle area - Blues rock trio, Southern Rock 3 guitar assault, casual fun band with just friends (classic rock).

I started playing in bands since the late 70's, mostly jazz, r/b, , blues, and rock projects I gravitate to.

Besides family, and work, music is my life pretty much.

Love

I would love to sing in a band, in fact its my dream :D

Been writing and recording my own music for like 5 years, and now I'm in a band where I'm the drummer and composer/main songwriter. I'm lucky to have a guitarist and a bassist that can play almost anything I tell them to do

I am a musician professionally! I play in five bands regularly and substitute with a few others. Mostly these are cover bands, and sometimes I have to play songs that are far from my favourite, but that is how it goes if you're going make a career of a hobby. I usually play keyboards or bass guitar, but I can also play guitar, drums, accordion, mandolin, trumpet, tuba... these instruments I play less often. Because everyone is a guitarist, and the demand for tuba players is below where it would be in my ideal world.
