Got Caught At Work

I had the epilator out this morning working on my legs in between approving and replying to posts. I forgot to put it up and left it charging on my desk. When my mechanic got here he saw it on the desk and well let me just say I got a weird look.

I told him what it was and that I hate body hair and left it at that. He didn't say anything else but I can imagine what he is thinking right now.

Watch out girlfriend.....

You'll end up like me....

I've walked away from my desk and left Lauras up on the screen...

I left my compact on the men's room sink...

I left my purse on my desk...

I had huge mascara smudges under my eyes...

Well, Girlfriend...you really screwed up...you just should of told him that you were charging your GPS...and hope that he didn't ask to see it work....LOL

Be careful!

Well, maybe he has tried plucking some leg hairs before and wonders how you stand the pain. Please do not let whatever opinion he might have cause you any stress. Its not worth it. I know, easier said than done.

I didn't lie because he saw the end of it and would know it wasn't a electric shaver. I felt it better to just tell the truth in that I hate body hair. He said later what are you going to do shave your arms too and I said yes so that it isn't a suprise when I do. I told him again that I can't stand body hair and wanted it all gone. He just smirked and left after that.

Oh well it may be better this way because it will be easier on me when I do remove my arm hair.

Sarah,

Oh, that's too bad.

The only suggestion I have is not only for you but for any others who might get into that kind of situation. Just do the best quality job you can, be dependable, and continue working well with those around you (regardless of the looks they may give - be courteous). Besides going afoul of any EEO laws, most (sensible) employers value those.

Rachael,

An epilator is a little (and I mean little) like a men's electric razor. The goal of each is to remove hair, they're electric, and they have a sort of similar shape. And that's about where the similarities end. An epilator's ultimate goal is remove hair - down to the roots. Imagine waxing, now imagine electrical waxing. I would guess it's a bit..painful.

Regarding getting caught at work, and DeeJay's experiences. I have one suggestion. Think of how long it took to apply all those pretty and wonderful cosmetics. If you don't plan on at least the same amount of time to remove said cosmetics, you'll more than likely be noticed.

For my eye make-up - 1. In a shower. 2. Lots of soap (or specialty make-up remover) 3. a very white washcloth. Keep the washcloth lathered, carefully wipe around the eyes, look at the cloth, rinse the cloth, and repeat...repeat...repeat...repeat...repeat...... After at least two wipings where the washcloth remains that pure white, you're done...in the shower. Now get out, get in front of a mirror and washbasin, and (guess what) repeat, this time looking carefully for the smudges you no doubt missed in the shower.

Ok, you're done. Now pray you got it all off, because it will be noticed if you didn't.

I donno - when I get caught out like that, I act as it is no big deal. It's when you look or act guilty, then it can get strange. People take the cue from how you act about it.

So you use an epilator - say that and let it go - no body's business (too late now I guess).

An epilator is a wonderful device that allows you to remove body hair (don't use it on your face) and the effects last for weeks! Sally is ALWAYS asking to borrow mine!

Just ask her... grin

Sarah hon,

I have done the same kinds of things. We all have done them. I think it is a combination of being so natural and habitual that we forget the context that we are in sometimes. Another dynamic is that we sub-consciously need to come out regardless.

You will be amazed by other people's power of denial and I would expect that your coworker has already forgotten the whole

incident.

Try and not be too worried what others think of you

There will always be someone that will Judge you in some way ;)

Instead try and accept who and what your heart tells you you are

Smile and be happy for you are beautiful

I have never had that happen to me, Sarah.

For two very good reasons.

I never use an epilator because Lizzy attacked me with one once and I still have nightmares about it.

And here I always thought the epilator was a medieval torture device......

IT IS!

I have never had a job where I had an office, a place to put anything or a chair.

Love ya,

Sally

Well Sarah it sounds to me like you not only handled it very well, you also laid the groundwork for future changes. Smart girl!

Funny thing, Sarah. I started epilating my hands even before I began hrt and in the last year, I've slowly removed the hair from my arms (and there's now very little new growth outside of some vellous an a few dark hairs here and there).

You know what? No one notices. No one cares.

And if they do? They probably wont say a thing.

Just do it!

For what it is worth Sarah, I have been presenting with no arm hair (or underarm hair) for years. I wear short sleeved shirts to work everyday, so my bare arms show :) Indeed I got some razzing at first by some people when I showed up hairless to work. Interestingly most people did not even notice. In time, no one gives it a second thought. Today, no one questions me on how I present myself.

Well I went ahead and removed my arm hair yesterday. Since it was the first time, I used nair to remove the hair. My arms are nice and smooth now. I can't wait for the response I get from my mechanic when he notices the hair gone.

I used to tell people that I shaved my legs because it "cooled me down" in the Florida heat, and they bought it. I also said I plucked my eyebrows because I preferred the way it looked and that I'd have a big bushy unibrow if I didn't.

one thing i've noticed here-people may wonder a little for a feew minutes but then fall back into the default idea of the people around them. People go in with girl jeans and polish, shaped brows and even jewelry and yet their boss and co-workers are shocked when presented with the truth. people really do see what they expect to see and just go right on thinking as they always have unless it slaps them in the face.

Which turns out to be really nice for a lot of us:D

People who are out publicly, and openly transgender, maybe on HRT, having changed names and gender, have a lot to lose if anti-trans politicians take power.  They have openly called for our eradication, and promise to do everything they can to accomplish this.  (again, 2025) For someone in this position the election is about our survival.  It's foolish to delude ourselves into thinking "Oh, they don't really mean that.  It's all for show," or, "There's other more important things to concern ourselves with." Maybe for some people the other things take priority.  But if you have skin in the game, things look different.

If that happens, a lot of things I don't want to see might also be codified into law.  And some things that shouldn't be law might not get repealed.  To me, progress in one area isn't worth the price we'd have to pay in several other areas.     For me, voting on LGBTQ issues always ends up as an "out of the frying pan, but into the fire" sort of event.

Trying out a new wig. Got my reading glasses on. I've also got dark roots now - first time in years.

Thea, your post made me think of a comic named Chloe Petts whom I saw recently on Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda comedy special on Netflix. She is a cisgender masculine lesbian. She is brilliant and so funny. I was intrigued by her identification - specifically masculine, not butch. And it seems to me there is a difference.

Today I had a dr appt. When I checked in, I was asked my surname, which I gave. Apparently there were two patients with appointments at that time with that same surname. The receptionist asked, "Are you (my legal name which is feminine) or Paul?" I got such a kick out of it not being assumed I had the feminine name.

That must have felt affirming, albeit perhaps weirdly so. However, I'd construe that more broadly (no pun intended) as sexism rather than misogyny where the latter would imply contempt. Also, incidentally, I've heard chivalry referred to as "benevolent sexism".

My boss is in a panic. His business is a couple straws away from breaking a camel in half. He's just handling the stress very poorly.   My dad, though. He's handling things pretty well, as long as I continue to don't get massively offended by being called: son, boy, etc. His eldest is leaving the State and looks so different than he's been used to over the years. I haven't told him I'm on HRT, but to be fair the changes haven't been massive. I've always had boobs, more so after COVID weight gain and made more obvious with its loss, but now I'm not hiding them--and obviously wearing a bra. The estrogen has done some work, but nothing major (sadly). I think the biggest HRT changes have been my skin and a mild amount of fat redistribution.   Today I'm wearing my cheater, I almost have cleavage! :D I need to get another t-shirt bra to keep a good rotation. I only have two, one push-up, and the rest are unlined (great for Summer, but not great for my Summer wardrobe ).

I eat a ketogenic diet and have had no problems. I don't know about your case but I suspect it is the estrogen. Research the types of ways to take estrogen. Pay close attention to the bloodwork results. If they are not satisfactory, bring it up with your doctor. I take injectables, which are fully covered by insurance. It may not be the route for you, but something to consider. I emphasize to do your research and good luck. You can solve this. Be persistent.    Jennifer

I'm in a magenta blouse under a baby blue buttoned cardigan - still a little cool here in the northeast today - with dark blue jeans. Oh, and my favorite flame colored copper feather earrings.

White crop top and capri jeans ;) Finaly tricked the face id on my phone, "that's not you" lol.

This is my opinion, so take it for that. Fatigue is based more on what you eat. Eat a more healthy diet, and stay away from ultra-processed foods and that should help. Think of eating the way we did a couple hundred years ago before the industrial revolution. It's just a thought.   Jennifer
