Fallout 3

Anyone else hopelessly addicted to it?

I'm far from a gamer, I actually don't enjoy barely any games but for some reason Fallout 3 is a mega-addiction for me.

Maybe it's the vast amount of space you're given to roam, maybe it's because I have a huge love for post-apocalyptic anything, maybe it's the ability to do just about anything (including kill random people, have zombie allies, and cause mass explosions) but I LOVE this Gosh darned game. It's a great time killer/stress reliever. And I love making myself as a guy on there, it's dorky but it makes me so happy.

I beat the storyline but it gets boring running around killing supermutants in a very boring wasteland. Almost like oblivion, all the same. Great game, just a bit boring enviroment wise :/ *hides from flames*

Aye this I can readily agree with, if I wasn't such a completionist I wouldn't have spent so much time on it. Mods do help some though, thing's like Martigen's Mutant Mod, FO3 Wanderer's Edition, Fellout and the DC Interiors Project add a lot more character to the game and less monotony. Makes exploring terribly fun all over again.

Man...more I read, more I realize I really need to pick up the PC version.

I've STILL never had the opportunity to beat it (360 broke the first time I got into it, my save got corrupted another time, BS esues, I have AWFUL luck) and I'm really obsessive about taking every tiny, pointless little mission I can.

Ashley, I'd never flame someone for their opinion! And I hear that from a LOT of people, that it's like copypasted Oblivion. The main reason I never played Oblivion is because I absolutely loathe fantasy, and usually those types of games, Fallout for some reason I just fell in love with.

And holy crap YES I'm dying to get the new one X_X I can't wait until that baby comes out.

There's gonna be brawls over the Xbox, I know for sure. I've actually never blown up Megaton, just because I hate Burke/the rest of Tenpenny so Gosh darned much. I just end up disarming the bomb and taking the crap-tastic little house they've got there, lol.

I don't have a console, but even if I did I'd pick up PC versions for anything but fps games. They tend to get patched faster/easier, gain new content faster/easier, and depending on the game can get a lot of user created content made.

Fallout3 definitely was Oblivion with guns, the fact New Vegas is using the same old engine makes me sad.

Yeah, that's true, Fallout has [a lot] of bugs, I've gotten stuck in nothing too many times to count.

I bugged the hell out of my friend today, asking him just how horrible this whole "Oblivion with guns" thing is.

Hasn't Fallout been around longer, though? I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong, I don't know jack about gaming.

Again, my whole reason of never even touching Oblivion is because I hate just about everything even fantasy related.

No even the Elder Scrolls series as a whole is older than Fallout by 5 years (92 and 97). It got dubbed "Oblivion with guns" simply because it is, the game engine and general mechanics/physics are so exact things can be ported between games with minor if any adjustments needed. Sure there are some tweeks here and there, mostly related to small things like water physics and such; But overall it's the same thing with a different theme.

Vegas being on the same ever so slightly more optimized engine makes me shake my head and wonder when Bethesda is going to realize they need something new.
