When You Least Expect It

When You Least Expect It

Sometimes in our tormented lives while we search for peace

It is so elusive and always remains just beyond our reach

That we often just wish our suffering could somehow cease

We feel so isolated like being all alone on an empty beach

We get so tired of all of the endless searching

Trying to find anyone who would at least seem to care

Stumbling like on a tossing ship suddenly lurching

We are thrown together with our common fates to share

I have known for the longest time

That Lizzy was a very good friend of mine

I wrote about her in an early rhyme

But now I see how brightly she can shine

She took me in and offered to lend a hand

To help me out of my financial jam

She showed me how much she does understand

And always accepts me just as I am

But she goes far beyond just helping me pay my bills

She looks beyond the surface seeing deep into my soul

Upon seeing them makes it her mission to cure my ills

Offering her home, time and heart to make me whole

We so often look at people without really seeing who they are

Never noticing all that they do for us going so far above

Mere duty to their friends and all in need whether near or far

Not out of guilt or need but for the greatest reason love

I came to my friend for a helping hand

I was expecting a warm house and to not be alone

But I found so much more I understand

It isn't wood but love that makes a house a home

Lizzy saw me in need and knew what she should do

She offered me a chance for a new start

But I knew that she needed a new beginning too

She opened her door as well as her heart

Now we help each other to cope

With the problems of each day

We share our dreams and hope

This is where I want to stay

In a place that I do not own but does not own me

Where I no longer look down but raise my sights above

The simple goal of existing and on to living free

In a place made not of bricks or stone but out of love

Love ya,

Sally

That's beautiful, Sally.

Yes, its true. Love does make a home, whether it be a mansion, a trailer, a condo or an igloo. Love is what matters.

Love is what you have found.

Beautiful Sally!! Thank you for sharing.

I am so happy you and Lizzy are there for one another. It is not a one way street.

Sally so nonchilantly said, "Have you seen my new poem?"

"No," I said and casually looked it up, thinking,"What is she writing now?"

She is a natural and gifted writer who in one sitting can compose the most elegant verse. Me? I write and revise, and rewrite and edit. Half of what I end up with is average at best. Only once in a whioe, my work comes together. But Sally? She has a gift.

So I think this one will be typical, good and from the heart, about something in her life she needs to express.

...

Then I read it.

What can I say? Just what can I say...

...

Sally came to share a place with me. It was a good chance for both of us to get back on our feet, and to share expenses. I knew her well, and we had met in Memphis along with Donna Jean. We three formed a lifetime friendship. It was an amazing time. We all feel it was life-changing meeting. So it seemed natural to have her as a roommate.

But we somehow got to really be much more that roommates - not romantically but in a way of inseperable loving friends. To see her write this for all to see ... this poetry... moves me in ways I have a hard time explaining.

So let me just close by saying, yes, Sally. We have a home together now.

I love you

Lizzy

Sally....you and I go back a ways....

And, since your move, I've never seen you so happy...

A smile on your lips way more than ever before...Attitude, comfort...

You've certainly found your place...full of love and warmth...

You know that I'm happy for you....You are finally home....

Sally,

All I can say is this poem is so beautiful and touching. It truly expresses the love of two sisters that found each other. So often many of us o through that feeling of feeling alone in the world and that loneliness sends us reeling and we wonder if we will ever find a true friend that will accept us and be there for us through think and thin as Lizzy has been for you and you have been for Lizzy.

You are both inspiring me so much with this sisterly relationship you two have. You both inspire me to keep reaching out a helping hand to others and to accept a helping hand when I need one. Hopefully one day I'll find a true friend as you have Sally. Thank you for giving me hope through sharing this poem with us...God Bless Both of you!!...Huggsss...Katrina

Being admitted into the hospital after a long ER visit. I started passing lots of blood and they are keeping me for observation.    Nurse came in to see about a condom catheter, that of course doesn't work on me. 🤣   She said, "I guess we will use incontinence supplies on you."

Yeah.  I think this is what it is about.  Since they are not transgender, nobody else could possibly be either.  I'm not sure that a cisgender person can understand being transgender.  But that hardly means that a transgender person's experience is not real - just because it is not theirs. Why is a transgendered person's experience not valid, while a cisgendered person's is?  Why should it be the cisgendered person that decides? Nobody is forcing a cis person to transition.  What I do for myself is my own business.

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.

I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.

Good luck on selling your wife on the idea of a different car. This could be tougher than negotiating with a dealership.   My wife agreed to my taking profit out of the company to buy a used truck once we found out the 2014 F-250 I currently had with 267,244 miles on it was needing new torque converter solenoids and the DEF system is chocking up. We bought a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, Duramax 4X4, with 163,000 miles. LTZ Off Road package, power mirrors, chrome step boards, rear camera, exhaust brake, and air lift bags on the rear suspension. It belonged to a friend of mine who also owned a mobile training business.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

At the other end and in our favor is Julia Serano's analysis of the Cass Report Fiasco   https://juliaserano.medium.com/the-cass-review-wpath-files-and-the-perpetual-debate-over-gender-affirming-care-8f56d0c4d0c6   Serano is a Trans Woman and a molecular biologist herself, guess whose evaluation I honor.

That's great @MaeBe hopefully the company will offer your wife a moving package with the new job position. That's how I was transferred from the St. Louis Metro area to the Indianapolis Metro area. The company covered all the moving expenses, as well as a three week stay in an extended living hotel while we chose an area to build our current home.   Good Luck and make it a happy adventure.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
