Body Waxing

I'm getting so tired of all this hair everywhere on my body. It is one of the things that causes me the most issues. I just looked into body waxing, and to do everything from the neck down would cost $305 every 4-5 weeks. I'm not sure I can convince my wife to go for it. I cant use a regular razor on my body or arms as the skin is too sensitive. The leg hair is really thick in the upper thigh area which is also extremely sensitive. I can use my electric razor, but that still leaves a little stubble, which is unacceptable, especially on the arms where people can see, or the inner thighs where they can rub. I want to start on HRT so it can start to grow back in finer and make this easier, but my wife isn't quite ready for that, and from what i know, that would take a while to really really make a difference. So, any thoughts on what I should do?

Hi Monika,

I really understand where you are coming from. I have started using an epilator on my arms and legs, and have used Nair other places. Have just purchased some home waxing products and applicators, but have not yet gotten around to actual use. I really need to make time.

Hope some of the others chime in with what they recommend!

Huggs,

Opal

Hi Monika,

I use a epilator works great.it does hurt till you are use to it. I also wax which is kinda messy but works good and can be had at wally world for around $12.00 for a kit.

Hmmm, i have an epilator, but it didn't seem to really work. It was an emjoy prestige, has anyone had experience with it? Maybe I'm just using it wrong. Oh, and I had a bad break out where I used it. Is that normal? Ive heard to get the best one you can afford, and this was all I could find locally. I'm not opposed to buying one online, if I know what is going to really work.

I've used nair before, but I always seem to leave it on too long and get chemical burns from it. Have you tried Veet? I think that's what it is called anyway. Is it any gentler?

Me and home waxing don't get along. The last time I used it, I ended up taking a patch of skin off. My wife made me promise to never do it again.

Waxing at home is really not that difficult, if you can find a willing assistant for those hard to reach places, and after a few times, it doesn't even hurt much, and what does hurt is the pulling on the skin, not the hair removal itself. I recently started using Nair's new roll on wax(Link), and I have to say, I'm impressed. It works great, and the best part is that the strips wash right off in warm water and they're re-usable, so it's fairly inexpensive. There's approximately enough in one container for a full body wax, depending on your size and where you are hairy (I don't have to worry about my back, so it's enough for me.) The only issue I had with it, was that I can only do so much at a time because there's only 10 strips that come with it. However, what I did to make up for that, is I bought two, and I used two sets of strips. It's still not enough to do a full body, but I certainly make a lot more progress that way.

It's a heck of a lot cheaper, that's for sure.

I would love to get an epilator. The one I want, though, is the braun silk epil, but I haven't been able to find one for purchase locally. I spoke to my mom about it though, and she said she'd put it on her credit card for me so I can order it online, if I give her the money. By far the cheapest method of hair removal in the long run, if you get one that works well and you take good care of it.

I started with electric epilation, then waxing, and settled for shaving instead. With both epilation & waxing I got red bumbs that lasted until the next month. So for me there was no benefit, only incredible pain as I had much leg hair. Shaving doesn't give me as much bumbs, so I settled for it. Veet would work too, the least painful and better than shaving.

Just goes to show you how different everybody's experiences can be. I find shaving gives me the worst bumps (from ingrown hairs), and I definitely find the most discomfort from shaving and depilatory creams. Most times I don't even get bumps that last longer than a few hours from waxing.

I just saw the brqun silk epil at Target on sale. I almost picked it up, but I'm not sure how it compares to the Optimal.

I get bumps from shaving too. I use my electric on my body now, and while it works okay, I need something better. I did pick up some Veet though, so we'll see how well that works.

Ah, the razor burn. I used to get that all the time. I find using a quality women's razor helps on arms and legs, but also gradually your skin will get used to it. HRT helps reduce a lot of the bulk of the hair too, so you'll find yourself shaving much less often which helps enormisly.

That's what I say, too...

21 months on HRT and I touch up about once a week in the shower with a razor...it now grows slow and fine...

If you do a little research, you'll see that the Silk Epil gets the best reviews of any epilator. And it has several models to choose from. Cordless, corded, ones you can get wet, etc. Even the simplest model gets great reviews. I researched them for hours one night, and it's the hands-down winner.

Thanks. My hair lady, and a former boss also said the same thing about the top. As for him saying he's sorry. He's a manly man. I know im never going to get a sorry from him. Even I knew as a man. If I said some thing stupid to woman in my past life. Hey everyone dose. I would say im sorry. As for saying I'm ugly. I can take being called ugly. I'm not that sensitive, but when I'm being compared to two men doing drag. That is what pissed me off.  Yep. I worked with a lot of men in my life. There has been many times. That they have said stupid stuff, and I have said how are you married.  Can be?  He really not a bad looking man. Again not my type. He dose treat woman with respect for the most part. I'll give him that. Like you said. He just says stupid things a lot. I also know he dosn't care about gay/trans stuff. I've know him well enough to know he could care less about a person's sexual or gender choices. He hasn't even known about my transition for a year yet, and we really don't talk about. As we don't see eachother in person. Because he's a trucker. I think if he saw me in person. It might be a lot different l. I still have male friends because I need a bit of testerone in my life. As munch as my female friends have tried to be into my interests. They just aren't into cars, or other male interest. Plus if a male friend want to hang out. It means a i can wear sweats, a over sized t shirt, and no make-up. Hanging out with the girls means going out in public. A hour of prep time, etc.

Check your local LGBTQ+ center. I gave mine to a friend who donated them to the community where they live. They were much too nice to throw out.   Hugs!

I’ve been wearing a bra with false breasts for almost a year, but i too have started to feel uncomfortable due to my breast growth. Yay!   So i’ve switched to some bra pads instead. It doesn’t feel as heavy or “natural”, but the lack of pressure is a definite plus.   Now I just need to find an organization to donate my old breasts to. Anyone know one? 😀   mara

@JaycieI was in the Boston area for about 10 years with my previous (#3) wife. My job for 37 years was overwhelmingly male dominated. During those 10 years, my best friend was a woman. She came out to Chicago a few years after I left Boston to be the "Best Man" at my (most recent) wedding. Years ago by, and we exchange Christmas cards and occasional birthday cards. Sadly, I haven't told her that I'm getting divorced and transitioning. Lack of courage. Soon. Same for the friend who cut me off 5 years ago - maybe.    Funny, it only occurred to me as I wrote about the past regarding my chosen middle name. Renee means reborn, and that was my conscious reason for adopting it. I realized that, subliminally, it was because of Renee Richards.   @MmindyAgain, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and God bless you. Hugs to all at TGP.❤️

Hmnn, worth a shot I mean using that angle [thank you] but issue with him is its his way and his way only, there is no compromising. I will try your way next time the topic comes up and will report back.

I hope it feels really good to know that your wife supports you as she does. That she sees you as more than a collection of body parts and as a person who desires to be more themselves.

Today I went out dressed as myself for the very first time.  It was only to the garage and back but that is far more than it has ever been before.  I also made an appointment with the local incursion clinic.  That's a very big step on my part.  To me it mean I want to move forward on my transition.  Gods, I'm so unsure.  I skipped my last appointment.  I HAVE to keep this one .

Hannah,   I pray for you and your happiness with friends. Friends you make as Hannah, the woman you should have always been. Hannah is your chance to break the cycle of pushing people away. You will be okay, and I pray eventually happy.   Hugs,   Mindy🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
