Australian Young Labor Agm

G'day All,

I've put forward a motion for the next Australian Young Labor AGM, happening on December the fifth, related to the trans- community, and I would like comment. I'm not sure if this is the right section of the forums, but I hope it is.

The motion reads:

"Australian Young Labor Western Australia draws the attention of the various Parliaments of Australia and the Australian Labor Party to the plight of transgender, transsexual, and intersex people around the nation and insists that they act to rectify the inequalities in law, statistical sampling, and social and economic status presently inflicted on the trans- community. Additionally, Australian Young Labor Western Australia requests the inauguration an inquiry into the establishment of a publicly funded National Transgender, Transsexual and Intersex Support Network."

All comments and criticism are welcome.

If you're a member of the Australian Labor Party, under 25, in Western Australia (unlikely, I know), and can come along to the AGM in December to vote for this and other motions (such as marriage equality) then please do.

Hi Simon,

I was wondering how that motion went, and if it was successful. I'm over in New South Wales and it seems like that is pretty far away goal. Also, I was wondering if i could ask you how you feel about that in the context of the Labor party, which I have the impression is fairly conservative. Am just curious.
