i have a question when first starting make up did you ask for help how did you go about doing that.

Jo-Ann

Well, if you're just beginning...it's always good to get some experienced help...

Going to a makeup counter at department stores is fun....

Or even looking on You Tube....there are a lot of "How To's" there...

I watched my mom as a kid and got an idea on how and where each kind goes. I then just practiced putting it on until I got it down. I still have trouble with mascara though. That is the hardest one to master.

I got help first from Youtube, but I did ask for help in selecting the proper foundation color from a

cosmetics counter girl (it was fun!). But I've never gotten a full makeover at a cosmetics counter yet.

The biggest help has been my son's GF, who really knows her stuff. She did a whole makeover on me at home, and

gave me great tips. She even went to Sephora with me to pick out some stuff. :D Great girl, that one!

Practice, practice, practice! It gets easier the more you do it. Remember, just take your time and go slowly. I used to hate doing mascara because I was afraid I'd poke my eye out. Well, one day I did poke my eye but I survived and I still do mascara. Just have to remember to go slowly as you're aiming for light delicate hairs above your eyes.

As for how I learned, it was a combination of asking some of my friends and looking online. Of all my friends, I only asked those who I've seen pictures of and thought "wow her makeup is awesome!". Girls (at least my friends) don't mind sharing some makeup tips, tricks or secrets with their friends. :)

Since i just recently got my make up looking right. I am in support of the idea of asking friends about things or tricks they do. Also, the make up girls at the drug store will show you all of the basic steps without a problem, guy or girl. The girl i talked to seemed really excited to go to work on my face and explain everything she did. Moisturize, foundation and concealer. For Lips, eyes i loved youtube for the many videos demonstrating techniques as has been mentioned already. My favorite on youtube is a woman named Michelle Phan. her videos are clear, she is very professional in her presentation, she also is calming and has great music while she goes about her application and explanation and is an over all great teacher. check her out.

What's the best way to remove make-up? I've been wanting to experiment with eye make-up, but I'm afraid that if I use something designed for long wear, that I might not be able to remove it for work. All suggestions welcomed.

Hi Dawn,

I use eye-makeup removal solution and make-up removal towelette. They are good for most makeup products, however for water-proof stuff, I use warm water and they will come off easily. If you have to remove makeup before work, a pack of make-up removal towelette plus washing your face with warm water maybe good enough. Hope this help.

I don't use anything designed for long term or waterproof since I'm not "out" and passing. Too much trouble getting it off. Also, I hate black mascara, looks very unnatural on me. Many years ago I used to have a heck of a time getting Red Red lipstick completely off, not that it looked good anywayrolleyes.gif

Lastly, Ponds Cold Cream, both the blue and green jars are good and inexpensive. I've been stuck using soap and water on eye make a few times and its pretty brutal on the skin. No matter how much you pay for clear liquid eye makeup remover I think its basically like Johnsons Baby Oil.

I was going to call it Numbness, then I realised well.. it isn't. basically, yeah, it isn't.   this only happens to me sometimes. I'll be lying down and my legs will.. well, I guess lock?   If I straighten them out, they will unlock- when I roll over again, they will lock again. this lasts for around 10/ 15 minutes I guess   it's not pins and needles either

so, a close friend wants to cook for me   the issue is, she is a vegitarian and won't handle meat- I, on the other hand, won't handle vegetables- hate the things   every time she goes out to the shop, she comes back with something.. a cake, a fruit smoothie, a coffee, I won't eat any of it. please help me think of something that she could make for me that I'll actually eat   disclaimer: you are talking to the most pickiest eater in the world. good luck

I think there is some truth in this.  They intend to implement Project 2025, whether or not he spends his energies persecuting the Democrats who have been persecuting him (in his view, a debatable point) and does nothing else.   I have seen numerous accusations that the document is about "Trumpism", whatever that is, and is merely a vehicle for him to become dictator.  From what I have read so far, that is the same sort of truth as the Steele Dossier, denying the validity of a certain laptop, Schiff's non-existence evidence of collaboration and a host of other things, many directly from Biden, that are simply not true.   I will continue reading it.

      Who, precisely, are "they"?

Wife of mine pointed out that not getting a haircut for a month looks hideous - weird bald patches.  So back to super- short buzz cut.  This morning I braced, looking in the mirror.  I look like a woman trying to pass as a a guy, maybe  a small-breasted woman with enough T treatment to grow a mustache.    I would not believe me if I read what I write about me.  This is nuts.   White t-shirt: that they sell in the back of WM so you can tie-dye them or otherwise decorate them. They are thick and long lasting and slightly fitted, so that they could be a man's.  I like them.   Jeans, flip flops.   I will no longer point out these are women's.  What else would I wear?

That is all that is necessary. I did the same thing. I must have gotten something wrong.

Quite right mate! I have been letting my hair grow out again (I cut it all off when I was 18).    I'll never look this good:    But I'll aspire to look my best! ☺️
