Psn Id Ideas

Hey y'all.

So i'm gettin a ps3 for christmas, and I need a PSN account to link my system online. Buttttttttt... i've never played online before (only on my cousin's XBLive account a couple times) and I'm really lousy at coming up with a good gamertag.

I used to play PS2 all the time, but that was almost 5 years and I never had the setup for online gameplay. Anyway, can anyone help me out with a few ID ideas?

Well it depends on what your interests are, both gaming and other things:

*If you like owning yourself some noobs then grab Nateknoobkiller

*If you're in it for casual, fun games then go for AllNate-er-al or something

One thing to keep in mind is that your name doesn't really need to be in it at all. Heck, mine is TickBomb. (I realize it makes no sense. All of my usual ones were taken. >.>) Which brings up another key point: Don't put all kinds of thought into some amazing name and get your heart set on it. Most of the time, if you've got an awesome name in mind... it's already taken. >.<

If you're okay with having numbers at the end of or in your name, you have a little more freedom to choose a potentially more common name. I personally can't stand that sort of thing, so I often have to do some serious brain-scouring. Or just let it sit in the back of my mind for a bit and usually something will come along soon enough. :3

Another trick you can use is to check out other languages for words or meanings you might like. Latin and Old Norse are two of my favorites to pull names out of. (I'm an altoholic when it comes to online gaming... I need a lot of names.)

Most importantly (in my humble opinion), don't pick something stupid or random just for the sake of picking it. This handle is going to represent you as a gamer and, by extension, as a person. It is the first and often only thing that people will see in regards to you. If your name is nubstomprlol, don't expect to be taken seriously or treated with any semblance of respect.

One last--though not necessarily important--thing to consider: People are lazy. If you have a long name, other players are going to shorten it to just the first bit when speaking to or about you. DirtNapsNate, nine times out of ten, would become... dirt. XD Nothing major, but it is something to keep in mind.

BAM! lol i got my PS3 for Christmas, and have it hooked up online and all that good stuff. Don't have the headset yet to play online though

well, ive seen many id's on my ps3 and ive heard many reasons why they have them, sometimes it's related to the types of games the play, other times ive found they relate them to their interests,personaltys and sometimes it's just a random name they came up with that they liked or sounded cool.Me, I went with a simple one and used the email i had at the time because really as i see it that's all it really is isnt it, an email just for your ps3?

True. That's an interesting way to look at it. Never really thought of it like that before. But yeah, in a way, that's all it really is.
