So.. Let's Talk About Birdo And Poison.

This lady from Final Fight, and This lady from Mario.

There are many different Birdo, they're a species, but there seems to be one specific Birdo that the series concentrates on. It's a shame that Birdo is having a hard time getting into anything but side games do to her "gender controversy".

I don't see how either one is involved in a controversy. It seems like it's just the general publics ignorance on gender identity that created this so called "controversy".

Nintendo rarely, if ever, hides the fact that Birdo is MtF.

Her voice in the Japanese All-Star commercials, and in Captain Rainbow, is rather deep. In Mario Tennis and Super Mario Advance, she had a feminine voice. But then they changed her voice back to rough, albeit nasal now.

Nintendo doesn't seem to mind her status, especially in Japan.. While it is rude to say she's being odd or that it's an error that she thinks of herself as a girl, it's progress.

Roxy was apparently due to Nintendo's old restrictions. The makers changed her to being trans because they thought it was wrong to hit a woman..

Roxy hasn't appeared in that many games either. It's a shame too; she's my favorite character in the series. I find it odd how in the west she's post-op but in the east pre-op though. Anyone know why?

Anyway, what do you think of their controversies and how their companies portray their gender?

not entirly true in double dragon there was a girl beat up ,

head over to capcom go to blogs, than street fighter section, than super street fighter 4 section go to character request thread and ask for poison i guarantee itll spark conversation i know i was a part of over a 100pages of conversations about poison.

roxy is and was a girl poison is her friend and was a born a boy but eventualy changed, cody knows so does haggar and guy i think, also poison insf3 is hugo's manager after they (poison and hugo) left the mad gear gang. poison and roxy are orphans sndwere picked up by the gang.
