Well,

I've been meeting with a doctor for two, almost three months now (the 8th will be our three month point) and I've decided (with the encourangement of my wife, friends, family, and doctor) to start going full time after this quarter. Being that my final final is done at 10:10am, and I will have started the process to change my name, we are holding a "funeral?" except a happy one I guess? for Al, and my family is going to accept me as Alice all together. I'm really excited about this, after all this time I can finally be me all the time. I don't have to worry about ever having to pretend to be the old me ever again.

I know this is off subject but we will also be donating all my old clothes etc. so if anyone knows a person who needs anything (or if anyone on here needs anything) please let me know (you can privately message me if you would prefer). I would really like for my items to go to people who really will use them and need them. I'm a size 30ish waist, I have some 28 from lately. I have shirts ranging from Med-Large (some XL race shirts etc). Mostly band shirts (hendrix, dead, beatles, etc.) Button Downs, suits, etc. Also I have my boxing robe, trunks, gloves, ring shoes, speed bag, double ended bag, heavy bag, etc. if anyone is interested I don't foresee myself ever ever ever stepping into the ring again. (I have tons of boxing equipment if anyone wants it, I boxed am. for three years, and pro for two so it's good quality stuff for free...I"ll even offer some training to get you started if your local) (The Robe is Everlast Purple, with Black trim. Black Lettering: The Purple Haze...I know ha, on the back) Trunks are the same color, with purple flames. Ha ok, so like I said sorry it's off topic but I don't know maybe some guys on here don't have the chance to shop ect. so I"ll offer to ship for free everything...I just want to see the stuff go to good people who will really use it. If you want to know if I have something or see some items let me know I'll take some pictures of them and email them to you. I just don't want anything from that life, in this respect, around the house.

I hope this can help someone out, and World...meet Alice!

:D That's GREAT news Alice!

Im sure the world will be GLAD to meet you.

I sure cant wait until my whole family accepts me. Ive yet to come out to ALL of them.. just a couple here and there.

Ooo Ooo.. boxing equipment.. ooo oo! I was kickboxing when I lived in L.A. and tried boxing here, but getting started is expensive (as Im sure you know). When I made the big move (across the country - due to eviction etc blah blah) I had to give up all my equipment..just couldnt bring it with me. I would absolutely LOVE some of your boxing equipment. (wow..i think i just drooled..no REALLY ). How heavy are your gloves and what size shoe do you wear? And Id LOVE your speed bag. GOSH I miss boxing SO much.. I just havent been able to afford the gym fee and equip cost.. and .. well.. Im STOKED your giving your stuff away.

<--- waaay too excited. sorry.

And of course really happy for YOU too! Id like to hear a little more about the "funeral".. its something Id considered..but wasnt sure if it made sense and now that youve mentioned it...im interested again.

Geezz.. i should stop rambling.

Ray,

Glove sizes I have a few. I have 8oz. professional lace up gloves (the ones your trainer will need to put on you), 12 oz and 14oz sparring/bag gloves as well. My shoes are huge (I have big feet :(...mens 11, womens 12.) but they are good quality everlast ring shoes. They come up past your ankle but not up your whole shin. I also have some trainer mitts if you have someone to hold them for you, they are professional quality so you can hit them as hard as you like and they are in very good condition.

As far as the heavy bag, speed bag, etc. The speed bag is the smallest size everlast makes, so you'll be very quick when you master it. Do you have a rack to hang this all on? Heres something you may be interested in. At my home in Fl, long story, I have a full boxing set up. A 150 lb heavy bag, with rack, and speed bag and rack, also I have the double ended bag (it'll swing around and beat you up at first, but once you get the hang of it it'll have you slipping punches left and right). If your interested in having the whole set up I just got out of college for the summer and will be driving down to the Fl house. I could pick it up and swing through your state if it's on the way back up to ohio? (I can't see your flag while writing sorry...) Or you could maybe meet us somewhere along the way to pick it up? It's just really heavy to ship all the metal stands etc. If not I can for sure just send the speed bag along through the mail. Putting it out there as an option, I just don't want to have to look at that every day when I finally move back to Fl...it brings back some pretty grisly memories, injuries, etc...the ring is not a pretty place Ray...please know what you are getting into. I've lost quite a bit of vision from boxing, I've developed a stutter (not too bad, but it does get in the way sometimes, esp. with music), and my nose is going to be a huge pain until I get it fixed. Not to scare you off, just boxing is a very very dark world. But on a lighter note it's all free and a great start (I can also give you my videos/books/training manuals to get you started...and boxing books about boxers, ha...I want to totally remove myself from the scene). Anyway sorry to make that so long, if you want it its yours you can pm me and I"ll send you my phone number and we can work out the details.

As far as the funeral, I guess a reception would have been a better word. Its a time for the whole family to just let go of the Al side of me and embrace me for who I really am all at once together. This way there is no strange getting used to it period with everybody on their own, we just get it out of the way in a cheerful happy setting you know? Makes it easier on everybody, thats the key to having a transition move smoothly I think. Not forgetting to help others understand and deal with their issues/concerns as well.

Everyone,

Thank you all for the encouragement. I am looking forward to this very much. They gave me no problems at the Probate Clerks Office today, just gave me some forms to fill out, robbed me $105.00, and told me to come back in 30 days for my court date (I need to let an add run in the local paper that long). Easy as pie for anyone worried about it. I was all worked up and nervous it would be uncomfortable and intimidating, but no the lady behind the desk just said Ok and started gathering the forms. No questions asked, no weird looks..and this is in Ohio a pretty conservative sate when it comes to Transsexual/Transgender issues and southern ohio none the less. So, don't be worried about changing your name, its no worse than a shot at the doctors. A quick sting, then all better.

Peace, love, and health,

Alice

So im wondering..youre out already to all your family and youre just having them over, or are you coming out AT the reception...?

If you dont mind.. i might have to borrow your idea. It sounds like a great way to smoothen out transition. Especially with my appointment for T coming up next month (WOOT!!!).

I love ceremonial markings of important events! Yay! I should do that. I think I will do that, perhaps being more literal with an actual funeral and christening.

Pretty much yeah, just having everyone over after the exams. Even though transitioning is the main focus of the even, we're always looking for excuses to get the family together, so I guess its just a celebration of an end and a new beginning. When I came out I did it pretty much like this as well, except it wasn't as much of a "party" I guess. I find it helps me just to get it all over with at once, instead of dreading each individual encounter take it all at once. Once the storm passes, count your friends, and move on you know what I mean? Sure it may hurt to loose some but life must go on.

Ray,

Grats on stating your T! That's a huge step for you! Yay!

Congrats, Alice! It sounds like things are going great! I'm really happy for you! Also, the "funeral" is a cool idea. I think it might give closure to people who will miss Al, including you. Know what I mean?

Ray, it sounds like you are about to have some pretty awesome boxing equipment. I'm jealous and wish I lived closer.

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!

True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

happiness to me is being ME. At all times, and it has yet to happen.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....
