Ok

i was waching this

http://www.videojug.com/interview/sex-change-and-surgery-2#how-much-does-it-cost-to-change-your-biological-sex

and she said it was 10 - 25 thousand for

Srs. so with that i came up with this.

I will be saving up for four years and I know I should have about

120 000 saved in my acount after that fouth year is finished sooooo.....with that..

Hormone Therapy meds for 1 year

Gender Therapist visits per visit

docter vistits for meds per visit

Hair Removal complete

New Wardrobe 5 000

Changing Legal Status 0

Genital Surgery (SRS) 30 000

Apple Shave

Rent for 1 year 20 000

total so far 55 000

Bank 120 000

spent 55 000

----------------

bank 65 000

so in five categories i am missing costs so I was

hoping you all could tell me how much it cost you so

i can fill that in. I need those numbas! lol

that way i can figure out how much ill have left or

How much i will be in a hole.

also for legal status change thats just for to be a woman on paper right?, well if so im not going to do it

im a transwoman, but i like women so I would be a lesbian.? so at least I will be able to marry my spouse!

Hurray for loop holes! I think.

Thanks everyone

My replies are from my own transition costs, everyone is different.

Hormone Therapy meds for 1 year

The usually prescribed meds Spironolactone and Estradiol are on many pharmacies $4.00 list, it depends on dosages, which we can not discuss here but plan on around $500.00

Gender Therapist visits per visit

This varies mine charges 120.00 a session, in the beginning i had weekly sessions for just over 3 months, then got my letter for hrt, say 13 x $120.00 = then every other week for 3 more months 6 x $120.00 = $720.00 then spaced them once a month another 6 x $120.00 = $720.00 so the total year cost was somewhere around $3,000.00, however therapists charge different amounts per session and you may choose to go less often, my insurance paid for all of it except my $15.00 co pay per session.

docter vistits for meds per visit

This varies too, my endo charges $185.00 per visit and i see him every 6 months, expect in the first year to go at least twice or every few months till you levels are stabilized, blood tests can cost anywhere from $100.00 to $400.00 or more depending on what tests are run, you will have tests at the initial appointment.

Hair Removal complete

If you have dark hair and fair skin laser might be a good start, it can cost anywhere from $175.00 to $500.00 per session which is anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks apart and it is said to be hair reduction not permanent, only electrolysis is and that can cost anywhere from $60.00 to $90.00 an hour, i spent $3,000.00 on laser and i am getting rid of the white/grey hair and any dark ones that have come back with electrolysis, my total so far is over $10,000.00, hair removal can cost as much as SRS.

New Wardrobe 5 000

Changing Legal Status 0

This varies from state to state anywhere from $80.00 to over $500.00, check with your local county.

Genital Surgery (SRS) 30 000

This number is a bit high, the cost is anywhere from about $10,000.00 if you go to Thailand to somewhere around $20,000.00 in the US, Dr. Mcginn is charging me $17,500.00 for mine, it includes her charges, hospital and anesthesia, hotel for a weeks stay is another $1,000.00, mine will be somewhere around $20,000.00 when all is said and done.

Apple Shave

Rent for 1 year 20 000

total so far 55 000

Bank 120 000

spent 55 000

----------------

bank 65 000

so in five categories i am missing costs so I was

Cynthia, I think Paula's responses were pretty much on target.

I've heard that surgery in Thailand costs $12-14,000, and around $25,000 in the U.S.

I paid $100 per hour for my G.T., which was the cash rate. I spend many more months in therapy than I had to to get my referral for HRT, but

with family issues I needed the extra time.

My HRT doctor is $100 for each follow-up visit, I'm getting labs done now as part of my regular physical exams so they're covered by insurance, and my meds cost about $20/month for Spiro, Estradiol patches and finesteride.

LHR cost me $1,600, but like Paula, I'll need some electrolysis to finish off the white hairs.

I have no idea what clothing has cost me, but my wife says its too much, whatever it is. LOL! Hey, when you start a wardrobe from scratch,

it don't come cheap!

I see what your saying.

hmmmm

So it I should definatly put in a extra 5000 for wardrobe got ya

so 10 000 on wardrobe! lol.

so still how much does it cost to get a shave? more specificaly the adams apple? trachshave?

and thankyou both carolyn and paula that was actually a lot more helpful than I thought!

and paula like i said I like girls so chances are i will bite the bullet and keep my male

status so me and my wife can get leagally married

PS: I actualy originaly thought SRS cost $100,000 lol, well i guess it makes it much easier for

me to afford it now that i know its only a fourth. I prefer american doctor why? cuz ill know

where to find him or her! lol

O also if any of lauras other members want to ask or have something i forgot please add that!

I believe this will give us all a nice well rounded idea of the costs.

anyway does this check out?

Hormone Therapy meds for 1 year 500

Gender Therapist visits per visit 3 000

docter vistits for meds per visit 4 000

The only thing that I would offer beyond what the nice ladies have already told you is that most Doctors will prescribe the generic forms which can be purchased at many drugstores for $4 per month's supply - now we will be taking more than a normal month's supply for natal females so it will be more but with no insurance at all I am paying less than $40 dollars a month for all of my HRT.

Shop around and do tell your therapist if you are on a very tight budget with no insurance some will give you a special rate.

Love ya,

Sally

Hi Cynthia,

<< hug >>

It is good that you are thinking ahead :)

There are many costs for transition to consider.

It looks like you have most of the monetary ones.

Some of the most important cost to consider are not monetary though

For many transition cost them their family and friends :(

Anyway I wish you the best of everything :)

Very True but all of that i have come to terms with, Whatever they decide to do is their choice.

I refuse to continue to live my life hating my self. And i want to marry someone and i will not marry someone knowing i am lying to myself

when I am fully me physically already there mentally and set as me than i will continue on and have a spouse than children.

if i lie to myself than i wont have a healthy relation ship with my spouse i believe, and i know marrying a girl isnt going to cure me of my feelings like my parents will have thought.

thank you vanna for your concerned thoughts. ((Hugs))

This stuff seems to be the major talking point for "conservatives" these days.  Just shows that they don't know what they're talking about, and don't particularly care.

Mother's Day, so I thought I'd do the right thing and cook. So, we got Chinese takeaway! 😆   Actually, we planned it days ago, just thinking that tonight we would treat ourselves. Complete with a lovely bottle of Cab Sav.
    • Mirrabooka
Exactly.   A plain old "Good morning" should always suffice, for example, whether the recipient expects a gender specific greeting or not.

Hi awkward yet sweet, yeah, I tried dumping her but my current health insurance keeps directing me back to her as my primary, yet there are other doctors to choose from, but they are far away.

Hi Birdie, I can relate to that.

This sort of stuff makes my blood boil. A prospective state politician has gained approval from his party's state council to run in their state election next year.   He once stated that the + part of LGBTQIA+ is where pedophiles are categorized.   For clarity, in Australia the Liberal party is our main conservative party. They have lurched further to the right over the past 10 years or so. Our main progressive, union backed party is Labor.   WA Liberal party approves Dr Thomas Brough, candidate who linked LGBTQIA+ community with paedophiles - ABC News

Happy Mother’s Day    I have to be at church earlier than normal for a mic check.  I have been going over what I am to say, both silently reading and reading it aloud.  My concern is that my voice will freeze as it sometimes does.     I felt I was honored very highly yesterday by my minister and supporter on my journey.  He and another minister are Standing together to become the next co-moderators of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  They included me to receive an advance copy of their initial submission.  I was one of only 6 people listed on the email to receive this.  Later this week it will go out to all the voting commissioners that will be in Salt Lake City for the meeting.  I have asked to be allowed to attend the meeting to support him and Rev CeeCee Armstrong, whom he is standing with.    We’ll time to get ready .   Willow

Nup. Not an option. You need to keep going and keep us all in the loop, and we need to keep seeing your beautiful smile!   Party, schmarty. I'm 61 and haven't had a birthday party since I was 30. Even that was just a crummy meal at the pub with a few friends who we have since lost contact with. Don't sweat it.

On behalf of everyone reading your entries here @Sally Stone, THANK YOU for creating such an informative thread. But there is one thing you might have neglected to say at the end, and that is, "And they all lived happily ever after!" ❤️   Reno sounds like a pretty good place to call home. I understand the attraction of living in a place that is not too big but not too small.   I look forward to reading your subsequent posts about specific aspects of your journey.

Hi and welcome. A few things...   1. You're right, you can't trust your friends w/r/t the question of passing. How would they even know if you pass or not? My sister used to do the same thing, telling me that no-one knew I was trans and that to her I just looked like a cis woman. I still don't know if she was serious or just trying to make me feel good, but I learned to not listen to her on that topic.   2. Buuuut, having said that, I thought I looked good, and I think that is all she was really trying to tell me, that she liked how I looked as a woman. Maybe this is obvious, but I feel it gets overlooked: passing and looking good are not the same thing, not even remotely. Your friends (I presume) are trying to tell you that you look good as you are.   3. Having said all that, I think non-passing transmascs have a harder time than us non-passing transfemmes. All I have to do to get gendered correctly 95% of the time is wear a dress and makeup and only a few seriously ignorant folks and diehard transphobes misgender me. For you, it's much harder to find signifiers powerful enough to send the same message.   So in short, I don't have any answers, except that you're right, it sucks, and I hope the situation improves over time. But passing isn't everything. Maybe you're right, and in a less conservative state it wouldn't happen so often, because you'd have more people like you surrounding you. I know that where I chose to live while transitioning has been a big part of making the process a positive experience. I'd hate to be in Texas atm.

Thank you, ladies.   At the time I went from euphoric (my normal state) to not euphoric in an instant, and the lingering thought was one of self-doubt, manifesting itself with the unsolved question that maybe I never really felt like I had the soul of a woman, I just thought I did. I know I'm not the only one to ever feel this way. All part of the ride on this roller coaster I guess.   Yep, and yep. Makes sense now.
