does anyone know the avg of kids who where born intersexed thire mom and or dad oped for operation to give the child distinct genitalia of either a boy or a girl? From what i read it is more comamn for operation to give the child distinct genitalia of either a boy or a girl and not let them live with both. If anyone knows and could tell me if most where rised as guys from my finding it seems that most are rised as males for the lack of breast thou some do have sewing of the chest. I am just asking see if my finding are on par with what is the avg. I am talking about intersexed genitalia thou there are cases where thire is other froums of intersed but it seesm that combination of both genitalia is the most comman with in intersexxed.

Hi Kris,

Don't know too much about the topic, I'm a transsexual but there is a forum called "bodies like ours" and is pretty much for people born inter-sexed. It's open to transsexuals too, but not many post there, I'm joined but, never really participated, but the moderators were super respectful and encouraged me to participate. You might want to check them out. Mail me when ever as we both have the issue of acceptance to deal, both our own and others. Sometimes our own acceptance is the hardest of all. Sarah Ann

This is outside my expertise, but since no one else is biting...

All humans, male and female are born with the same chests. Female breasts develop during puberty. Male breasts could but usually don't get the necessary hormones to activate them. The fact that genetic males can with suitable hormones grow breasts can be attested to by any number of members on this forum.

So as far as the choice of sex for intersex children, breasts do not play a part. In the past, I believe the preference was deciidely for raising the child as female. The surgery for recreating female genitalia is generally easier than male genitalia. I do not know the statistics. I would think that today with more advanced surgical techniques the decision would be tending towards a more balanced 50-50.

Hope this helps.

SharleahLynn,

I see that you are also intersexed and that you present as female. Whereas I was raised female ha ha [ whata joke that was] and am now male. I never wanted to be a female and in fact hated every second of it. I came out as gay, them ftm and finally intersexed and now legally a man; Thank God.

Sharleah is around Bulldog, but you might want to create a new thread to address your interest since this one actually started two years ago  Hate for you to be stuck in an inactive thread.

Thanks. I've noticed that the intersex forum is rather slow. But, then again, a lot of intersexuals don't want to discuss their situations in a big forum.

Thanks again

Mike
