Body Hair After Hrt

This is just a general question to all of those out there who have experience with HRT and body hair, as well as anyone who may be more versed in the subject matter than I am. From what I have read, hormone treatment does not affect facial hair (thus the laser and electrolysis) however it does affect other body hair (arm, chest, back, etc...) my reading has lead me to believe that with time your arm, chest, and back hair will decrease, become thinner, softer, and essentially turn into vellus hair (the little blonde hairs). I was wondering what your experiences/knowledge is with this...As for me, I stay as clean shaven as possible (arms, pits, legs, back, face, etc...) but looking to the future I was wondering if i would have to have laser on all those body parts?? I am not as naturally hairy as they come, but have my fair share of body hair on my chest and arms if i let it grow in.

Anywho...just wondering what your thoughts were...

Thanks!!!

Madison Rose.

Coming up on 26 month HRT - and...

YES! Almost all the body hair disappeared or changed to the normal female density! It took a while, but most was significantly reduced in the first year. Post op friends told me to NOT worry about body LASER, that the HRT would do so much to reduce body hair. And it does.

I hope this helps

I don't have much body hair but the hair on my legs got much to be much much less. This is after two and a half years on HRT, It takes quite a while at first it seems like nothing is happening than you realize it has worked, good luck

I was like you not really hairy as men go, and could never grow a beared or even a mustache. My legs are vitualy hair free. Everywher else as slowed down and is changing color. Even my facial hair! When I first went full time at five months HRT and now laser, electro and I could not cover the shadow with foundation. I just bought my second jar of powder and went a shade lighter and it covers it so well that people are not reading me even at conversational distances.

Same here.....

I was fairly hairy as a male type person...

23 months HRT for me and the body hair (not face, but, arms, legs, chest...etc...) has become mostly fine and slow growing...Just my experience3, but you can see that it's all similar....

At what point did you all see a noticeable difference?

Madison, my experience is like the others. I wasn't very hirsute before, but after HRT it barely shows up at all. I now shave my legs

and abdomen about once every 3 weeks, and even then it doesn't take long at all.

I started noticing after about 3 months.

*this is coming from someone 7 mo. into her HRT*

hair is still growing back on my legs and arms, but some other areas, like the chest and my shoulder (oh gosh, how I loathed that hair soooo much) is either growing back lots slower or gone (or so it seems, could return like a bad horror villain). That's just my experience though, so your mileage may vary.

I was never very hairy but I was beginning to get hair in places that I did not want it and would be very hard to remove - I cannot see or reach my back!

17 months on HRT - back hair is gone, chest and belly hair almost gone, very pale and fine and none on my legs at all and very little on my arms - YMMV but for me, I hardly ever shave - very pale facial hair - the laser took out all of the black already.

Love ya,

Sally

Madison, this is another one of those YMMV things, i have been on hrt over 2-1/2 years and my leg hair has reduced to where i shave every 3-4 weeks, my arm hair lightened and thinned, what little chest hair i had is gone as with the rest of the hair on my torso, i have 2 - 25 year old MtF's living with me, one has the same results as me, the other continues to have body hair that has not changed much on hrt.

Just wanted to chime in and totally agree with Lizzy. She's right. Many transgirls (me included!) want to get rid of facial and body hair immediately once they start HRT.

Because of circumstances beyond my control, I had monetary setbacks and could not do hair removal yet. Mind you, I WAS hairier than most guys. You'd be AMAZED how well HRT is thinning out and lessening the body hair!

I just bought a home electrolysis kit and plan to use it for the first time tomorrow ... now that I've got WAAAY less hair to deal with.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS TO YOU! HRT WILL WORK ITS MAGIC! BE PATIENT!

I was afraid reading this post that I would find such a desirable answer. Sigh... I'm not sure that I will ever reach a place where I'll be ever to take them and life seems like it's blurring by. I would so love some magic to transform me! I'm so happy for those who can.

I was a hairy bear. I was so hairy that I believed I could never transition and be accepted as a female because of it.

My beard grew straight down my neck and right onto my chest. My chest hair was so thick that when I did shave it and it started to grow back, the hairs would be forced back by my shoulder belt (seatbelt) into my chest and stab me like little daggers.

I had hair growing on my back... I was a man's man, in the body hair department.

I went in to get an estimate to laser my body and got an estimate that might buy me a compact car, brand new.

I'm over a year into hormones and my body hair is very slowly going away. None left on the back, very little on the chest. My ankles are smooth. Holy cow!

While it has not gotten rid of my facial hair, the thickness of each beard hair is about half what it was and it grows very slowly now. The peripheral areas have thinned and many have disappeared altogether.

My advice to anyone undertaking transition is to wait on any body hair removal and see what happens the first year or two. It may all go away on it's own. I love it.

Thanks for the advice from experience Becky. I just started hormones recently and can't wait for the full effects to take place. The only change I've noticed is that the hairs on my legs are growing much slower now than on other parts of my body after one month of HRT. I guess patience is the key.

I didn't see much difference the first 3 to 6 months. THEN it kicked in. It's very subtle - and very slow, but HRT does a body good. Everyone said the facial hair is not affected. Mine was. It isn't gone but it is really unnoticeable now. The body hair is virtually gone. But I am over two years HRT. YMMV

You gave me hope! I've been looking at my body lately and going ewww!!! so hairy. Okay so I'm not like incredibly hairy just vaguely but enough to be not good!

I'll definately start pushing a little more for HRT with my therapist, trying to speed it up :P

Take heart and be of good cheer, O Young One!

You are not alone on this, okay. You read my earlier positive post. Now, here's the rest of the story. I was VERY hairy and, oh, how I hated it! Hated it!

Many T-girls on here had significant hair loss and could go fulltime after start HRT within mere months after starting on hormones ... 5 months, 7 months, 9 months ... and they're fulltime.

Well, I'm approximately 1 year and 2 months into HRT now without a break, and I cannot even begin to go fulltime. I still have to shave EVERYWHERE once a week and it would be twice a week except I say, "Heck with it!"

Who else on here is 1 year and 2 months into full-tilt HRT and cannot yet go fulltime because of the @#$%^&* body hair?!? NOBODY!

Feel better now? It's NOT just you! Today is Tuesday, 1 February 2011. I plan to go fulltime on 1 April 2011. Amazingly, everybody on here either goes fulltime and/or present in increasing androgyne mode gradually ooching up to being fulltime, and seemingly, everywhere they go, people are way cool with it.

That is NOT my experience! Currently, I'm presenting publicly in androgyne mode, and I get more doo-doo than the New York City Sewer System! No joke! The irony is that I'm developing the body of a runway model. Often see myself in mirrors and full-length windows at the mall, and it's true. My gender counselor said this would happen. She was right. Mind you, I'm NOT saying this to either brag and/or boast. I can just imagine what will happen whenever I actually go fulltime and present as fully female. Heck, I'll probably get banned from the mall and/or shot!

How do I deal with it? I strut myself boldly, out-there, head held high. My motto to the public is: "KMA, BABY! KMA!"

So, see? There you are. You are not alone.

HRT truly WILL decrease your body hair as the other posters here have told you. It's an individual proposition. As they say, "Your mileage may vary."

Just do it, honey! We've got but one life! Let's live it!

I have no "male" body hair at all. My torso is essentially hair free with the exception of the normal short white ones that everyone has. I didn't have much to begin with, but I have no hair at all on my cheat and all, and its wonderful!

I have been on HRT going on 6 weeks.

I have only seen real results in my back and chest area. The best results are seen on my back. I did not even notice it was thinning until my wife asked me if I shaved it. Not sure how I would do that. I still have a lot left to lose.

I have seen improvement in my chest area too. The greatest improvement that I have seen is in its toughness. It used to hurt shaving my chest because the razor had trouble cutting the hair in some areas. Now shaving is a breeze and I still use the same brand and type of razor. And it grows back slower.

I cannot wait to see what the next 6 weeks brings

from here (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2024/727/made) it states that it doesn't apply if:   "...(5) Condition D is that the purpose for which the private prescription was issued is a purpose other than treatment for the purpose of puberty suppression in respect of gender dysphoria, gender incongruence or a combination of both."   So the ban only applies to specifically for treatment of gender dysphoria/incongruence.

My weekend was OK, Took the wagon to the car show on Saturday. It was quite a few cars. After I just mellowed at home. Not much yesterday. Was feeling a little cruddy. After the wife got home, we took a drive to Centennial for ice cream. Then took the long way home. Went up and over the Snowy range and  back around to the interstate and home. all the while the left side of my face was building pressure, sinus infection. But got home it must have went its course because it subsided.   Decided to put in for the store manage position at our local Sportsmans Warehouse. It was late yesterday evening so nothing yet.   Hugs, Kymmie

Are they also banning puberty blockers given to cis kids who start puberty too early?    If not, that's not even targeting a medication, that's targeting a use of a medication. It would be like saying if you had a medication perfectly capable of treating both pneumonia and bronchitis, but you're only allowed to use it on one patient or the other. The stupidity is real

Having sat on several juries one realizes how little folks beyond the courtroom know about the decisions made.  The juries conversation about the evidence as presented by the sides involved can be exhausting.  I would hesitate to question a decision especially, in this situation, when the 12 jurors are from a conservative area.    That being said some in the political world are attacking not only the basis of our democracy but now find it advantageous to attack the legal system.  No system is perfect but in my opinion ours works fairly well.     Hugs,   Charlize

Good morning    We drove about2 ½ hours to go to a different church’s service.  It was very different, but very much the same.  I went there to meet the minister that will be standing with our minister.  As soon as she saw me she treated me by names and gave me a big hug.  A lot more music and fire and brimstone, but still the same church traditions we had since I was a child.  It is a larger congregation than ours.  But still very homey and friendly..  we were welcomed by all.   Busy week! My son and DIL are coming tomorrow.  I haven’t seen them in quite a while.   but now, I have to go to work.     Willow

1983 - Jim Gordon US session drummer Jim Gordon murdered his mother during a psychotic episode. Diagnosed schizophrenic during his 1984 trial, Gordon was sentenced to 16 years-to-life in prison. A Grammy Award winner for co-writing Layla with Eric Clapton, Gordon worked with The Beach Boys, John Lennon, George Harrison Frank Zappa and many other artists..  Jim Gordan also was in Traffic and Derek and The Dominoes and received writers credit for the piano part in "Layla".    1967 - The Doors The Doors 'Light My Fire' was released in the US, where it went on to be No.1 on the singles chart two months later. When The Doors were booked to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show they were asked to change the line "girl, we couldn't get much higher", as the sponsors were uncomfortable with the possible reference to drug-taking. The band agreed to do so, and did a rehearsal using the amended lyrics; however, during the live performance, lead singer Jim Morrison sang the original lyric, after which they were informed they would never appear on the Ed Sullivan show again. I remember being in my mother's yard doing lawn work when I first heard the song when it was first released.   1964 - Ringo Starr During a photo session Ringo Starr was taken ill suffering from tonsillitis and pharyngitis, days before a world tour was about to start. After a last-minute phone call from George Martin, session drummer Jimmy Nichol rushed over to EMI Studios, where he and The Beatles ran through six songs from their tour repertoire in a quick rehearsal. Nichol replaced Ringo and became a Beatle for eleven days. This didn't get much press so I didn't know about it then but learned about it as I researched the group when I played Paul McCartney in a tribute band in my old life. I am much happy now though I miss playing out with a full electric band.

Last I heard, trans men were actually at higher risk of violent assault than trans women, though it was more commonly intimate partner violence. Trans women, on the other hand, were murdered at a higher rate. Unfortunately I can’t find that source atm, but the following source states that, while trans people are four times more likely than cis people to be victims of violent crime, the difference in rates of violence against trans men and trans women is negligible. Actually, looking at the stats cited, trans men are slightly more likely to experience violent crime.    That said, it’s not a competition. We all have it hard in some ways, just not always in the same ways.   https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/press/ncvs-trans-press-release/
