12 Month Hormone Levels - A Mixed Bag

I had a whole series of blood tests in the last two weeks, and while I'm pleased overall, there is one area where, if I am properly interpreting the results,

I'm disappointed.

The good news is that I'm healthy as all get-out. Liver, kidneys, blood sugar, blood pressure, and everything else are right where they should be.

In addition, my Serum T-levels are at 72 ng/ml (normal female range of 25-95, normal male range of 241-827).

Free Testosterone levels are 2.6 pg/ml (normal male range 7.2-24).

My disappointment concerns my serum estradiol levels, which are 42 pg/ml. The reference range appears to be 40-400.

Now, as I understand it, low T is better than high E, but I would still like to get my estradiol levels into the normal female range.

Time to talk to the doctor, methinks.

At least your T levels are down. As for the E level, do talk to your doctor. You don't want to overdo it with the Estradiol, but maybe you can still increase and maintain a happy balance.

The E level pretty low from my understanding but your doc should get the results, right? The 400 upper level is not where you wanna shoot for from what I've read. 80-150 is a really nice range. Maybe even a little lower and you are still in totally normal female range. The upper numbers are spikes that happen a few days a month...I don't think living in that range would be a good thing. I had a chart that broke down levels by age/time of the month/pregnancy and showed all the norms but I can't find the stupid link now.

My wife told me this morning using different words that I seemed to be near 400 the last day or two.

Congratulations Carolyn!

The most important part, although it might not seem like it to you is the perfect liver and kidney functions, your diabetes in control and all of the rest of your bloodwork being good then of course the lower T levels.

Now it is smooth sailing, your doctor should be willing to increase your estradiol now that he can see that there is no problems with any other areas.
