Haircuts!

Elizabeth, that depends a lot of the what company you keep. Young men in my area spend an incredible amount of attention to their hair.

"Hair is for women to worry over" is just so not true these days.

Grin! I guess I need to look under a few more sport caps to see iffin that's true here in the self proclaimed 'Sportman's Paradise!" I'd have to talk em into gettin' outta their truck first, and tossing away that chaw juice.

Maybe there is a class of men that took like those pictures, but I BET YOU A Tick-blue HOUND DOG PUP, they's in New York City, or California.

LA (Louisiana, not that West Coast town) is the place where men work hard and play hard. A regular haircut is good 'nuff.

Actually, we have many guys here that take care of their appearance. They are just in that 10% minority. 'Metrosex,' it's called here. LA is very casual for men's appearances, mainly because of the oppressive heat and humidity in the summer. Women's styles are also very casual.

Well I wouldn't know about the US, but Aaron is in Germany, and I'm in Norway, so I guess there may be some differences. Either way, I think the best advice for any ftm who wants to pay attention to their hair yet not stand out too much, is to pay attention to their peers.

There is more to passing as a man than a haircut and yes there can be cultural differences but ultimately most men go don't really vary in some basics regarding any haircut and what makes one comfortable and confident helps one pass. A supportive stylist or even an educated stylist can tell you what suits your face. Barbers are limited in their knowledge. Getting a haircut that doesn't fit you will make you stand out. It make look good on a celebrity or a friend but it may not on you. What works for peers may not work for you.

Hair, voice, body type may or may not be the factor in passing, we think too much about these things. When you stop questioning yourself and believing more in yourself, others see that and that is what makes the difference day to day. Lizzy makes a good point, I have lived in cities and small towns in the US and even with generational differences, most men don't go for the metrosexual look, gay or straight.
