I have heard different oponions about this but does it matter when you take your HRT Pills if you keep them under your tongue and have it disolve that way, or just swallow them? which is more effective (if any?), I know it is a lot easier on your liver if you keep it under your tongue and just goes right into you blood stream but I am just curious about this? Thanks

hmm, i have wondered about this too. i did the under the tounge thing for awhile because i had read it was better, but i dont think i was ever doing it right. some days it was dissolved in 5 min, other days it took almost 30min. i finally just got lazy and just started taking like normal. I personally cant say i have noticed a change either way

I can't believe it would make a difference when it comes to your liver, or in any other way for that matter. The liver filters your blood, not your stomach contents, so it's going to pass through there no matter how you take it.

Girl, it makes a tremendous and profound difference!

Without going into the detailed technical mish-mash of it all, suffice it to say that the sublingual modality of deliver of hormone replacement therapy (under your tongue) is the only way to go. There IS one way that is technically better: Intramuscular injection (getting a shot). Some people elect to go this route. One T-girl friend of mine is age 29, began HRT only 2 weeks to the day before I did, went full-time within 2 months thereafter and will have her SRS/GRS by Dr. Marci Bowers in about 7 weeks from today ... no joke. She elected to go with shots. She's had marvelous results.

Mind you, she is young, she is pretty and she is blessed. It's called good genetics. The sublingual modality will ultimately give you the same results as the shots, but it will take longer to do so.

For what it's worth, the doctor who oversees my HRT is herself a transsexual woman who transitioned in her mid-40s. She is the one who invented the under-the-tongue protocol for MTFs to take their HRT. Yeah, my HRT doctor is out for the money, but she's very smart and runs a great clinic:

Yep. She's the boss. She founded the practice in 1981. She's a hoot. I've yet to present to her en femme. I'm scheduled to see her again in June. Just wait! I ain't bustin' my butt at L.A. Fitness just for giggles and grins, honey:

Yeah, legs are my best feature. Can't WAIT to strut my stuff!

Under the tongue, honey. Only way to go. Good luck!

.

The most important advantage of sub lingual medication is that it goes directly to the blood and does not pass via liver where it undergoes extensive metabolism as nitrates... this is well known in medicine as first pass effect...

But, what ever you do...use the delivery method advised by your doctor....

They may want you to swallow, or put it under your tongue....or rub it on your forehead.

Follow their orders!

I like to take mine sub lingual. I really enjoy the sweet taste. Plus now that I'm over a month on hormones, I start to feel the estrogen immediately after taking it, even before it's dissolved. I find it is a wonderful feeling and look forward to it every time.

Hmmm... that would make sense but I think under the tongue works better because of rates. Basically a slowly dissolving dose goes into the blood stream slowly and the rate it gets to the liver is slower. But if you swallow the pills then it gets to the stomach all at once and is worked on and absorbed all at once, giving the liver much more to handle in a burst.

What I'm curious of now is how the trans-dermal patches stack up?

Jenny, I SOOO agree with you, hon! Dang, taking my HRT is the highlight of my day ... and has been for a year and two months now! Like, when I started it I saw my gender therapist about a month later and asked her, "Hon, are you SURE this s--t is LEGAL, man?!?" Like, I got SOOO high ... and it's freakin' LEAGAL! Wahoo!

Having (foolishly) imbibed in the Rite of Tetrahydrocannabinol daily for about 5 years and worshipped at the Altar of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide Tartrate 25 only once (wow!) back in The Day (3.5+ decades ago), I can unabashedly and unreservedly tell you that THIS is better ... it's legal ... and it's healthy.

The psychedelics left us with delusions. HRT leaves us with RESULTS!!!

Oh, what a feeling!

Peace Out  Lacey

Transdermal patches stack up very well! Some are better than others. Do your homework. Worth going that way if you want to. My for-now wife used them for years with excellent results. I know T-girls who have used them with very good results. A reasonable choice, for sure. Good luck, hon!

I'm not saying I'm right, I really don't know, but I can't see how the difference of a few minutes would have any significant effect.

Ok, I looked it up, and apparently there is a significant difference between swallowing and dissolving under the tongue. Donna Jeans explanation covers most of the details :)

I know what I'm gonna be doing :P

Thanks for the info ladies.

Honey.......

When the Estrogen is swallowed, lots of it is lost to the digestive juices....

So, a full dose doesn't really happen......

LOL...personally, I want every last drop!

Hi ,, I just saw my Doctor for HRT on 3/16/11 my very 1st visit,YAY !!! She gave me a physical and my scripts , however she didn't tell me about keeping them under my tounge. So I started to take Estradoil and Spiro by swallowing them . However after reading this post I'll take them under my tounge.

Do you take both the Estradoil and Spiro under the tounge or just the Estradoil ??

This morning I did both under the tounge ,one at a time . The Estradoil was sweet and disolved fast ,, the spiro not fast at all and not as good tasting either , it did kinda have a minty flavor , but definatly not as good as the E...

Thanks Jinny

Just the estradoil. And that is optional. Its sweet and by putting it under the tongue it dissolves and mostly goes directly into your blood stream.

Thank You Lizzy.

I was hoping that The Estradoil was the only one. The Spiro was ALOT tougher to take that way , YUCKY !!!

Thanks Again.

Good morning    On this date in 1972 it was a Saturday. I  made a pledge to love and honor my wife and keep her forsaking all others.  I have kept those vows and here we are celebrating our 52nd anniversary still together.  Still caring for each other through sickness and in health.  Still sharing our lives.   Other than that, it’s another day near the beach.  80 and mostly sunny.     I found a ‘17 GMC Acadia yesterday I want to take a look at.  It’s a bit more than I wanted to spend but it’s doable. Only 69k miles on it, with the low mileage I put on cars these days it probably won’t ever hit 100k if I do beget it.  Low mileage now is  likely because it was a leased car at some point. Those usually get pretty good care and not a lot of miles.  It would be similar in size to my Ford, 7 passenger seating but a more basic trim which is fine.  It only has a 4 cyl engine so potentially rather under powered for a relatively large SUV.  The ford has a 4.0liter 6 which is a bit large for cars these days.  Instead of full time all wheel drive, it apparently has 4 modes, 2, 4, sport (what ever that is, I presume it’s over drive turned off) and anti slip.  It’s probably not going to happen but I am keeping my eyes open for a good deal. The old Ford is just that, an old worn out Ford.  Since I bought the Ford I’ve only put about 10k miles on it in 6 years.  My daughter once had an Acadia, top trim package.  When she was driving back and forth to work close to 100 miles per day and going to Philadelphia every week another 500 or more.  For her the miles added up fast.   still keeping my eyes open.  This is about the right age and size but I was hoping to spend about $2000 less.   Other than that I hope to meet with my minister today about paper topics for my class submission.   Other than that Monday is laundry day so I’ll be doing several loads of laundry today.     I put on a neutral gel nail polish last night.  I tried this before, however, I don’t believe I correctly understood the how to get a good result so I was more careful this time.  All I want it’s to give my bpfinger nails enough strength to grow out just a little and stop tearing.   Well, I need to call to make an urology appointment.   @Birdiei was born in Ohio and until Lamda Legal sued them you could not get a sex change on a birth certificate for any reason.  Now you can.  In South Carolina a name change requires $300 and a form filled out and filed with the clerk of courts.  But a gender change requires a birth certificate with the new gender listed.  I am hoping they will permit gender X eventually but right now the state is too Red to do any such thing.   Willow

I have the problem, that I see myself at 3 maybe 4 on the list. I don't have the self love that I should have.   What does it mean to you?   Kymmie

Seems the stuffy day-centre has swapped out Psychiatric Services and therapy to the local BSA hospital. BSA works closely with the local university and is much more gender accepting than the day-centre. The day-centre's psychiatrist wanted to treat me for gender dysphoria by correcting it. 🙄   I logged into MyChart app at the hospital and updated my preferred name (Birdie) and preferred gender marker for them to use.  I'll try and get a referral for gender therapy at the hospital as well.    Nevada is my place of birth and I found out changing the gender marker on my birth certificate there only requires a letter from a licensed therapist, but a name change still requires a court order.    Changing the gender marker to female would at least be one step in the right direction, then I could renew my ID to state female instead.

Well today by attention wise was downright horrible. My legs can't stay still, can't focus on a project, my mind wanders around a lot, constantly fidgeting, easily distracted, couldn't even tell you what the sermon was about but there was vine on the altar and attention to detail sucks. I have read that it is possible to have BPD and ADHD. My mind even wanders during prayer. If I have both I won't be able to take Adderall because it makes my BPD symptoms worse. I keep having side effects that come up from my 3 traumatic brain injuries.

If it wasn't so *EVIL*, I would have to laugh.  Everyone knows that trans women in particular have such an overwhelming superiority in poetry that the competition would be unfair if they were allowed to enter.  You can't make this stuff up!   Seriously, sorry for making light of it.  But it is only by highlighting the utter absurdity of this kind of crap, whether it occurs in Russia or Florida, that I am able to hang on to any shred of sanity.

I used to fully agree with this statement, that is, until the first lockdown   Everyone I knew around me was affected by the pandemic. they couldn't work. they couldn't see their friends. they felt bored/ frustrated they couldn't get out of the house   and then there was me who welcomed it, because for once in my life, I didn't feel like a loser- and after lockdown, when everyone looked forward to going back to work or going out, well.. I had nothing- and I felt that no, I wasn't normal because I didn't have a life to get back to
