Migraines And Estrogen

Hi!

So, I got through the first three weeks of HRT fine, but the last few days have been rather unpleasant. I know that estrogen is contra-indicated for migraines, and this was the risk I signed up for, but I was kind of hoping someone else with a chronic migraine condition could tell me "don't worry, the crazy weirdness migraines go away after your first two months" or something equally hopeful.

Three in five days (my norm is four to five a month), including a double-sided one (I'm ALWAYS left side), and freakish random ice-picks that I haven't had since I first started getting migraines ten years back. I'm controlling them with my Imitrex injections, but those are a whole bag of fun on their own (not to mention bloody expensive). My migraines have always put considerable strain on my body aside from the events themselves, and well... this is kinda sucky and I'm starting to get a little nervous.

I won't see my endo for another two months, and honestly I doubt I'll tell him. I won't risk him taking me off the pills or keeping my dose low.

Does anyone have some good experiences or want to lie to make me feel better? (Bad experiences you can keep to yourself - don't screw with the placebo effect.)

Headaches can be an indicator of very high estrogen levels. This can result from taking too much or the way the body process what is a normal amount for other people. If your body is responding too well resulting in extremely high levels a lower dosage may be appropriate as such high levels can be risky.

It is important to tall your doc. There are some other potential side effects such as a change in blood pressure or blood clots that could be contributing to the headaches.

That is so weird. For me it was the opposite I used to get migraines all the time before I went on patches. Now, while they still occur they're not as debilitating.

I'm only on a test dose so it isn't likely that anything terribly serious is going on - also I've gotten both migraines and headaches regularly for ten years, I don't think I'd confuse them.

It seems to be calming down regardless, as I've only had one in the last week. I dunno, I guess my body is just being weird as per usual.
