Does A Trim Help?

Does trimming your hair help it grow faster? I've heard different things about it, but just like hormones I guess it effects people differently, my father can cut his hair an in 2weeks he needs another, his hair grows really fast, on the other hand my mom can cut hers an it maybe 6months to a year before she has to cut it again. I'm like my mom when it comes to hair, but i was just wondering

The official word is your hair grows the same rate regardless if you cut or trim it, or not.

The average person is 1/2" per month.

They say just to cut the dead ends off about every 6 to 8 weeks. You don't want to do anymore then that. They also say your hair should grow about 1/2 inch per month so don't let them cut too much hair off.
