Manscaping

Alright, sorry to be crude, but I used to shave downstairs, and I've stopped, but I feel like I should trim it at least. Does anyone have any manscaping tipz?

Even before I realised I was trans I only shaved downstairs once. The hair growing back was murder, as I remember it. Itchy and miserable no matter how I moved and certainly something I won't be trying again. Of course, I imagine it wouldn't be too bad with daily touch-ups but I don't really have the time. Sometimes I trim, which I feel is appropriate, but I'm not sure what else I'd really do. xD

Now that I have more time: I went full bush for quite a while, then started shaving (razor) like once a week or so. Seems for me, that was enough for the skin to get used to it and not be a pain in the... anywhoo. I now use my Philips to keep it trimmed, but still use a razor now and then.

Dang those Philips things are expensive =/ I'll try the normal razor thing and see how that works. Thanks for the advice!

You can use a beard trimmer for body hair. It trims evenly, but not down to the skin.

Some discussion on the topic by men who were both with the plumbing they ordered (there's nothing graphic, but maybe some people's word choice isn't PG-13?):

I just use a normal razor and shaving cream. I did read something on the proper way to shave downstairs once before I did it. You're supposed to soak the skin to make sure that the pores have opened, trim the hair with scissors, shave in the direction of the hair, then shave against the direction of the hair, all the while using plenty of shaving cream. I do shave every day, and it's never been too itchy or irritated since I started. :D

Trans-girl here. Something like six years ago I tried shaving "down there" like I did the rest of my body and found out that the skin on my unfortunate appendages likes to get caught in razor blades. I started waxing after that, and it's the only time waxing has been less painful than shaving.

If all you're looking to do is trim, I can't offer much from personal experience. This might sound really stupid, but I noticed my dad trimmed his beard with a small pair of scissors. Maybe something like that would work? Just make sure you don't let anyone else use them for anything else if you do try it.

I'll shut up now.

I've been shaving 'down there' very regularly for over a year, so hopefully I can give some insight -- be gentle, but don't be afraid of it. It's actually fairly hard to cut yourself with a razor, at least in my experience. I usually use generic feminine Shick dual-blades (with the "lubricating strip" or whatever it's called), they're pretty cheap at any drug store. For the first few times, or if you haven't shaved in a really long time, there's a three-day itch cycle. The first day after, it's okay and you just know you've got a little stubble. Second day, it's a little itchy. Third day is the "hump day" -- if you can get over it, you're good. I usually shaved once a week, now I do it once a month (yay, laziness). After you've been shaving for a while, though, it doesn't itch at all. I'm not sure if you get used to it or your body changes the way the hairs grow back, but it stops itching after a couple months.

The weird thing to me is that I never wanted to shave there till now. Not sure if I will but I don't understand the dynamic of wanting to do so as a man when I didn't before.

Of course I always hated shaving anything but did because I "should" presenting as female.

Not sure if I am going to shave or not-if I do it will ba an impulsive and not a planned thing

I trim it regularly, every month or so, or whenever it starts looking ugly.

I don't think it has anything to do with gender, it just makes me feel clean.

personaly, i dont shave it. sure, i attack it with a pair of scissors every once and a while, but thats pretty much it. i cant imagine how the regrowth of hair down there would feel after a shave. i can hardly handle the itchyness after shaving my pits...

Having taken on the site, forums, and all of the bills, from Dev (May 2020) and because I also want to be fully transparent about the cost of running the site, I feel it's time to update this information. Sorry that it has taken me two years since I last gave an update, just life getting in the way.   If you'd like to donate, please do so via the green bar at the top of the forum pages.  The months of July through October are pretty heavy with annual and semi-annual expenses and every little bit helps.   Here's the breakdown as it stands now:   Chat is now free. (Stu now runs the Chat)   Regular Charges: There are occasional one off's as well. Forums:  $70.00 every six months (February and August, effectively billed in January and July). (Was $45 until 2022, support ticket system depreciated!) Resource Locator:  $53.00 yearly, this "widget" failed this year, so I have been able to find a (currently) free replacement. Resource Locator Mapping: Google maps, currently under the minimum monthly usage, so free. Email Delivery: $5.00 monthly currently free, changed to a service that offers a much larger monthly allowance. Server Rental:  $30.00 monthly. Greatfully sponsored by The Breast Form Store. Security Software:  Now included in the package we have. Domain Renewals: Approx $75 annual charges for Transgenderpulse.com, Lauras-playground.com and the server domain. Contact Us Form Software: $79 yearly (August).   Total Monthly Breakdown: $54.50 per month.  (Annual bills = $654) Updated May 2024 (Slightly down on previous years).   Now then.  I'm on a fixed income, which means I know what it's like not having a penny to spare.  If you're not in a position to donate, please don't feel guilty; I didn't take over here to turn a profit.  The lights will stay on.  Donations are very much appreciated, but they are not a requirement of membership.   An update to clarify a couple of points: Because you have to use your legal name with PayPal, emails confirming your donation from PayPal will be from a name with the initials "DS", not Petra Jane and the email used is tgp (at) uk-web***   Unfortunately, we can only accept payment through PayPal, and please ensure that you have permission to make any donation through a PayPal account, we have been stung by someone alledgedly using a PayPal account without the owner's permission and incurred an additional $20 chargeback to refund the donation!   We have recently seen a number of these of late so I am asking that genuine donators please add your forum username in the comment box so that I, and I alone, will know who has sent the donation and that it is genuine. Thank you. Also, this appears only to Members who are logged in on the forums, New Members need to have made a minimum of 10 posts.   Let me reassure you: Donations help towards ongoing costs related to keeping the site running, including hosting, bandwidth, etc. It also encourages us to commit regular updates, add features, and improve the service. Our promise to you is that this site and its use will always remain free of charge.     Petra Jane

This is the dress I'll be wearing this evening while we watch the Kentucky Derby. Not sure if I'll throw on heels or flats with it - probably flats but I haven't worn heels in a while and the Force is strong.
