Hey there,

I just wanted to do a quick introduction for myself before I start posting around.

I'm Adam, seventeen year old female-to-male. I've creeped around the chatroom but haven't said much because I'm super shy and awkward. I'm recently out to everyone (two months now), with the possible exception of my mother who is in complete denial. Over the past few years it has been a brutal ride trying to figure out who I am, then having to deal with accepting myself. Joining this site I'm looking for support from people who understand what I'm going through in at least the slightest, and to do the same for others.

Welcome to Laura's! You've found a great place to be yourself and explore your feelings and find support. I am actually shy myself but once I opened up here I found a place where I could share my thoughts and feelings. As you can see from my post count I haven't been too shy here since . People here understand your feelings and share your struggles-and what's more they care.

Sounds like you have made good progress on coming out to your family and figuring out who you are. Parents tend to go into denial but that often changes over time-some even later become supportive, But at first they have to deny and grieve because in some ways they have to let go of a child they love and welcome another one in their place.. That's a hard thing for any parent.

We aren't therapists, and a gender therapist is always a good idea with gender identity situations, but we will be happy to share our opinions and experiences with you. Please feel free to post as much as you want in any forum whether asking questions, expressing opinions or sharing experiences. We are a PG-13 moderated site. You will have access to the PM system and profiles after 5 posts.
