Skirts And Sizing Lol

Why is it that I can buy a medium, pair of underwear yet when it comes to skirts I am a large?

You would think all things being equal you would get equal results including skirts and underwear etc.

I went into a store and I bought 2 skirts size medium (I am about a 33 inch waste btw). One had no stretch but was beautiful so I did get it finally on even though the waste was a fixed width. Another pair was stretch and fit fine. I went back to the store and bought another one in medium with some stretch but I couldn't even get it past my upper legs!

I can go into some stores and buy size small underwear and they fit okay, but most of the time I just buy medium. Some brands a medium is just too large. I read the measuring charts here on Laura's but some of that doesn't apply to me because I don't have large hips that would need to be squeezed past to put on a skirt.

Why cant the sizing be simple and easy LOL

I have found that womens sizes depends on the brand you are purchasing. They can be off by as much as two sized for me. That really bites because you definately have to try the clothes on before purchasing.

Yeah there's a lot of difference between brands and different shops and stuff. It's annoying.

It is annoying especially if you are buying online but trying things on is such fun when out shoping. I normally take a size 14 in dress but skirts sometimes a 10 or 12 will fit. I just bought a LBD today in a sale. It was size 12 and should be a body fit so I thought it might be too tight but it fitted perfectly. Usually evrything I see that I like in a sale is a size too small or too big which peeves me.daniel

Im usually a small or medium in underware and a small or medium and im a 4/6 in dress size maybe your geting rather small underwareO.O?

I have actually heard that the designers make the size 6 for whatever model is going to wear the item.

I have been wondering that too. Why do size 6 undies fit under size 8 jeans and don't get started about tops sheesh. Oh and don't forget vanity sizing that some brands do, size 12 labeled as size 10 just to make us feel better about our size.

Hi Girls, When spending your hard earned money its always best to head to the changing room at the store.All sizes are different, some skirts fit

some are to small or to big. I just love trying on clothes at the store, so feminine being one of the girls.

i hate the size difference in clothes,and also shoes!! i usually wear a size 9.5-10 and i bought a pair of heels the other day in size 10 and they are too small to wear for any length of time! AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

I believe it's because outerwear like jeans and skirts are measured according to waist, and underwear are measured for the hip. I could be wrong, but that was the impression I got from the sizing charts on the maidenform website.
