Weird Affirmations....

.

Well, Sally and Lizzy posted about our trip to the Jazzfest yesterday...

Wonderful time!

So, in addition to the good time there, I had a couple of interesting, affirming experiences....

Interesting, affirming experiences #1:

Lizzy and I standing in a huge crowd listening to an awesome "Motown" type band....

A guy came up and stood close behind us....

We decided to leave when the band was done and I followed Lizzy through the crowd...

The guy that was standing behind us grabbed and squeezed my butt!

OMG! I just kept walking and didn't look back....

I told Lizzy right away and guess what? She laughed at me. Said, "Welcome to womanhood..."

Dang!

Interesting, affirming experiences #2:

I finished using the woman's room and was washing my hands when a younger woman came up to me and asked me if I had a tampon.

I said, "No I don't, Hon, I'm way past that."

She patted my arm and said..."I'm so sorry, dear..."

*sigh*

The music was great, too........

Yup.

You are beyond question fully and completely presenting as exactly who you are.

Wonderful!

You should have checked your back - I think Lizzy had put a 'grab my butt' sign on you, I found mine before I went in.

As for the other - she thought you were a lot younger - most people do.

Love ya,

Sally

So now you need to wear steel panties when in a crowd and carry a supply of necessaries for your sisters who may be in need. To the sweet lady you could have said, "Oh thank you dear but my doctor has given me some medicine to help with it."

Dee Jay has 'been there' for quite a long time.

I think it is fascinating how different life can be on this other side. It's is affirming, but what it really is more than anything?

It is what we are and so much better now.

Somehow all the terrible times and sacrifices we went through, well... it was worth it.

Sigh

Butt grabbing and women sharing "feminine talk" in the bathroom. Dee Jay, why are you surprised? You are a woman and a darn good looking one.

This word filter isn't fun.

 Great stories, Donna Jean.

I do find it funny that what might infuriate a genetic woman we often take as a sign of affirmation and laugh it off. Different strokes...

You are truly there, my dear friend. Enjoy your life, have fun, and keep that cute butt out of harms way. :D

Swaying female bodies to the hypnotic R&B produced an uncontrolled response, it's primal....

Sounds like a great time !

This...is..the best!

and to think my mom thought it was weird that I carry a tampon in my purse and I said it's in case someone asks for one.

Those were very affirming indeed.

Even though that man had no right to touch you.

I liked that younger ladies response to asking for a tampon though.

Oh,I always carry one pad,a maxi, and one tampon for just in case.

My ex suggested that I carry them,it's what a lot of women do.

(who woulda guessed it)Smile.

Great idea,

I have these items in my purse, who knows someday....

I do not carry them because I am at an age that no natal women carry them anymore - Like Dee Jay, "No I don't, Hon, I'm way past that."

I am trying very hard in my life to live as honestly as possible - the last 59 years have been a deception and I do not want to continue to 'lie'.

I knew it! I'm not crazy!

(I actually carry one of each in the purse as well. Again, just in case someone asks)

My mom thought that was weird, I said it was normal.

I have to disagree totally.

That is not a good analogy. Dee Jay carries an insulin shot pin in her purse for me. Also, I carry my card for CPR. Neither is for personal use.

I also carry feminine protection pads - and I don't need them for me for two reasons - I am past menses, and I am not natal - but I do that as courtesy. I carried them for my ex wife - who had had hysterectomy surgery - they made her feel safer during stressful times, never mind the details.

Living a lie is being 'deceptive' not being thoughtful of others.

Each person see things differently-and has the right to make those choices. We must each choose for ourselves what things are symbolic for us I think.

Funny living as a woman I never was once asked for a product like that-nor would have asked for myself. A regional thing perhaps? Or the fact that body aside (and how I wish it was as easy as saying it) I am a man and always was even when I was confused about it?.

I'd say if carrying female products seems thoughtful and part of the Women's Club then you should do it. If it makes you feel deceitful then you should not.

It's not a right or wrong thing so much as a symbolic for each individual thing

Perhaps you are right, but around here I think it is pretty much a standard. Women asking I mean - my ex often mentioned it and once came out to get one from me to help someone. I don't know if TGirls do it as a common thing - I never thought to ask - grin. I have always done it (I also usually carried lipstick, lip balm, and tums for years and years now that I think about it).

I was disagreeing about the statement "...the last 59 years have been a deception and I do not want to continue to 'lie' "

Carrying something for others in your purse. is not a lie. I guess if you do it 'pretending you need it' is self deception. But you are not lying to anyone. If asked if I still needed it, I would truthfully say "no, it's an old habit."

Who cares WHY a TGirl would carry feminine protection if no one knew you were a TGirl.

I do it as a courtesy - like I would have if I was a post-menopause natal woman. I mean, I am in the woman's restroom and a woman asks me have a tampon? I would be happy to help if I could. No big deal.

Wow!

Made my weekend ... which was already AWESOME! ... even more great.

You three ... amazing! Hey, that's way cool. Envy you, really. The tampon request is just the bomb. You KNOW you REALLY pass when ... !

The women's room. My nemesis. Only been in one once and had no problem even with other women in there, but ... yaaaahhhh! Freaked me out. Got my cover letter. Just went fulltime, but I use the unisex restrooms.

Keep these stories of your adventures coming! Love 'em! Love the pics too!

Hugs & Peace ;) Lacey

I'm just saying, those are also good for nose bleeds because it's just a big wad of cotton and it's super absorbant (uh, no pun intended). OB non-applicator. Not the big ones.

That's a great suggestion. One thing I did was start a Pinterest board.  If I see something I like, I pin it without overthinking it too much.  Eventually a pattern emerges of the kind of clothes that appeal to me.  I'm very concerned about being age and venue-appropriate so I concentrate on more "everyday" outfits rather than the sexy stuff.  Not that the sexy stuff isn't fun though.....

Thank you, @Vidanjali! I'm in the process of applying to universities to transfer to (I got to a local community college currently), and I've got my eye on a specific one but I'm apply to 2-3 more just in case.  I'm also trying to apply for a job!  Another minor update is that I'm able to purchase trans tape now! I got it in blue because I like colors and pink was sold out, but hopefully the adhesive reacts well to my skin and I can use it to bind. This is another weapon I may have in the ongoing battle with dysphoria, but I think if it works, it'll work really well!  Fingers crossed, and y'all have a good day!

I can relate to looking in the mirror at a young age in life, whenever I explained to my parents, it resulted in a car ride to the hospital emergency room.

Hi all, a bit more about the story - I just realised the first message didn't tell you much! It's called 'Going Out', set in the UK, and it's by me, Nicola Atherton, if you search Amazon. Have a little read of the first two chapters which are there for free in the 'Look Inside' bit. It's a lovely long read, a gradual, detailed, emotional story which I’m sure some will find at times painfully raw, while at other times unbearably exciting. I wrote it for us lot :) It starts off as a gradual, realistic intro into Amy’s solitary world, before she accepts what she’s always known to be true. She makes friends with girls and meets men, and her story plays out in a way that others have said they enjoyed very much. I think you'll all love it :) PAPERACK copy.pdf

Wow! Hopefully that encounter is amicable! I can only imagine what might be going through your mind right now!   I was a bit of a prude, I don't even need a whole hand of fingers to count my sexual partners on. Good old fear-based Catholic "sex ed" did its number on me.   I get nervous walking into men's rooms. I don't look the part for the either restroom these days, I guess. I did use the women's at the convention I volunteered at (the restrooms were temporarily made gender free though), it was nice having a stall to use without waiting.   The whole bathroom debate is so stupid. Genital-based restroom assignments aren't going to stop people intending abuse and there are laws for handling them already. It's the fear the laws strike and the conditions they creates is the problem, fomenting distrust and hate. Who cares who is in the stall next to you? Let them pee in peace!

Good morning! Just finishing my delayed coffee after fasting for routine bloodwork.   Just had my annual physical and I came out to my Dr. He was so kind and said if/when I want to start HRT they have a couple endocrinologists who specialize in transition and he could give me a referral. So nice! Not quite ready to jump into that yet, but he was so understanding. Another small step in my social transition. I feel so happy! 😊

Not a quote, but a poem; "Invictus," by William Henley.  I had it hanging on the wall of my office for many years.   "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul."
