About Skeleton Size, Body Weight And Diet

Hi there,

the last months I am thinking very, very seriously about going through transition. One main thing that worries me is that I have quite a big skeleton, a skeleton which is certainly larger even than the skeleton of the average male. I fear that my big skeleton will probably be a serious obstacle in my effort to try to make my body look feminine.

To help you understand about what I am talking I will tell you that while my height is 1,80 meters ( 5 feet 11 incles ), my weight is 95 kilos ( 209 lbs. ). This weight of mine is not mainly due to body fat ( I have only 17 kilos- 37 lbs.- of body fat), neither due to muscle mass ( I do not exercise, I do not go to gym, I generally do not do anything to build muscles ). So my big weight is mainly due to my skeleton.

I had a brief conversation with a doctor who performs FFS. I asked him some questions about FFS and I also talked to him about my weight and my skeleton. He told me that with a proper, strict diet I could lose even 30 kilos( 66 lbs.) and end up weighing 66 kilos ( 145 lbs. ) which would be the ""proper"" weight for a woman of my height. He told me that this may sound absolutely incredible and impossible but it is not.

Well, indeed it really seems to me absolutely incredible and impossible. I cannot understand how it is possible for me to lose all this weight. I do not seem to have such large quantities of soft tissue ( muscle mass and body fat) which can be lost through diet. And I am also afraid that if I follow the diet that this doctor recomends to me I will possibly start to suffer from ""Anorexia nervosa"" which as I know is very unhealthy and dangerous.

Anyway I am certainly going to talk to this doctor once more to clarify some things, but in the meanwhile I would like to ask you some questions.

Are there any people here with a body size and skeleton size similar to mine? If yes, have you gone through such a radical as the one that this doctor recomends to me? Have you managed to acquire through diet, hormone treatment etc. a female body with which you are satisfied?

I will show you with this post some photos of mine in order to give you an idea about my body size.

If anyone here thinks that she has a skeleton size similar to mine and has gone through transition( or through some parts of it ) I would be glad to see her photos in order to have an idea about what kind of a body i can realistically expect to acquire through this transition process ( if offcourse she wants to share her photos with me, either through this public board or through a personal message )

hi, I'm 5'11'' and I am about 6 months in... I'm also extreeemely bone dense too. (I never broke a bone, even when I hit my shin on bricks) I don't wanna say how much I weigh, but it's enough to still worry a lot =P. Still though, you'll be suprised how much upper body mass you have until you do it. Everybody keeps on telling me how I'm losing weight when I'm not really losing that much according to the scales X-D...

One obstacle which you might experience like me, is some clothes (especially the nice ones) will be hard to put through your shoulders. That's one thing that got me a bit sad, but meh, I'm sure if I lost about 20 pounds more, I should be okay :P

Oh, and some women are quite big bone too...it's just not as obvious when it's for a girl I'm noticing :P

Thanks for your answer Charlito ( btw, you reminded me of a great film with Al Pacino called "Carlito's Way" ).

So now you have seen my photos and I have told you about my weight, my height and my percentage of body fat; do you think that your skeleton is (more or less ) as big as mine? If not, smaller or bigger than me?

Judging from your experience on the topic and from the photos and the personal information I gave you, can you estimate approximately how much weight I could lose if I followed a proper diet?

Personally I think that I could lose much body mass from my arms and my legs, but I am afraid that I cannot lose much body mass from my upper torso, since there seems to be only a small quantity of soft tissue ( body fat or muscle mass ) covering my bones of the upper torso, my rib cage. I placed a measure tape around my chest to measure its periphery and the result was 95 cm. ( 3' 1'' ).

This seems to be very big for a woman and I wonder whether it can be reduced or not.

Anyway some more questions that I would like to ask.

- First is anorexia nervosa a danger for people like us who try to lose such large quantities of weight? What do you think?

- Second have you started HRT? HRT's role is to redistribute the fat of your body, so do you have to have a minimum of body fat before you start it? Do you know anything about this?

- Third, what are the ""scales X-D" that you mentioned?

Anyway, I decided to start diet right now. I hope that I will get some good results from it.

Hehe,

First, I lost like 50 pounds in one year (and then 20 more the year after that) so...It was quite hard to do.

Second, yeah I did start...and it's best if you lose weight now, then try to put on a bit of fat after starting HRT again. That way the fat is placed on the body in the good places...It doesn't exactly "redistributed"...it's more like, whatever new ones that go on your body attaches to parts that girls do.

Third, X-D is a smiley I always type. hehe. :)

I think my underbust is about...3' too. (Or 36) It is kinda big, but meh, it's not as bad as I thought cuz I have a few girl buddies who shares the same size as I do...and they don't look bad at all.

I'm about 190, so I'm guessing you could at least lose to then? Just eat real small portions w/ some good multi vitamins + milk. That + jogging should make a winning combo :)

I have had the 'huge skeleton' issue my whole life, and I am bio-female (FTM). When I was forced to wear women's clothes by my parents, I could never get my shoulders into it, and I have a very large rib cage. I've never tried to lose weight, I've always been thick... but I know a diet that women in my family use is called 'Somersizing"... it works for them, you should look it up. They also have "big bones".

I think I may have some valid input.

I'm 6' tall, i dont know my current weight (scales been broken for a few months), but I know at one point it was around 230 (that was like 2 summers ago), and I think right now im around 200. My case might be a little different though, i do have a pretty hefty skeleton, but its not quite to a full grown male level (im only 15, lol). I do have a lot of muscle from 3 years of junior high wrestling that my dad made me do, and a whole year of power lifting at my schools gym (i used to hang out with jocks, so we'd always go work out, i hated it but i wanted to fit in,). I have heard that HRT can reduce muscle mass, and since muscle weighs more than fat, I figure that I will lose some net weight. The fat i do have is mainly around my thighs, upper chest, and lower abdomen, kind of in a female pattern. I finally came out to my mom so I'm starting my diet (small portions, no late eating, very few, if any snacks, and healthy foods such as chicken and carrots), and my exercise (walking my dog about a mile each day, i burn about 400 calories doing that, especially in this summer heat), it will take time to drop the pounds, but patience is important.

But enough about me, to answer your questions Mak, the weight loss suggested is certainly achievable, just keep your mind focused on the end instead of whats in between now and then. And make sure you eat still, not eating is really bad for one wanting to lose weight. If you don't eat, your mind is convinced that food is scarce and immediately converts all calories into fat for later consumption, and slows down the rate at which your body consumes stored fats. So please, don't starve yourself. As for the big bones, I know several women and girls that have big bones, and they're still beautiful. There aren't really any procedures that can help you with the big bones, so just work around them, and i'm sure you'll be fine.

Love,

Alyssa.

Hi,

I am nearly the same size than you. 180cm and approx 80kg. Sometimes more ;)

My problem is also that I have broad soulders. So I am a bit scared about my looking in female clothes.

Last week I was in holiday and I use the time at teh beach to take a clother look to the people around me special to the shape of the bodies. I found out that the width of the should nearly fit the width of the hips. If I take a look into the mirror wearing my corset, the waist look good. But the ratio of shoulder and hip does not fit. With hormones the shape of the body can only different with fat and muscle tissues. I think fat more than muscles. So I hope to get a bigger butt and upper legs. Now I feel they are to small. If I get a bigger hip, the ratio would be look better. Is is not much just some cm.

Another point that man look broad is the latissimus dorsi muscle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latissimus_dorsi_muscle

That is the muscle that gives the back the V-shape. You also have it and maybe it will be smaller with hormones.

Anyway, there are a lot of woman that look great with broad shoulders and thin hips.

Once I found a side for MTF person with suggestions for clothes to hide parts of the body with problems. I do not know the link in the moment I have to search it. With broad shoulders, we can not wear all clothes we want. Some would be look funny others would be perfect to hide.

Another side with a lot of information about the differences of male and female body shape is

Hello,

it is me again.

In the last posting I wrote

With hormones the shape of the body can only different with fat and muscle tissues. I think fat more than muscles.

I found some information that this information is maybe not true. The average male body has approx 40% of muscles and 19-24% fat. The female body has approx 20-23% of muscles and approx 5% more fat than the male body. I hope that with hormones, the amount of muscles decrease and fat increase a bit but mainly move to different places. I do not have any experience if a HRT will affect so radicaly that the complete fat and muscle tissues will change 100%. If it is so, I will los 10kg of my total weight. But I also heard that with E, the appetite will change. So we have to take care not to increase the amount of fat to much.

I think it is a good idea to make diet before HRT. It will also help to pass better.

Greetings

Nelly

Hi there;

I'm 5'11" and 240lbs. So I do understand about having a large body mass.

Germany has more castles than there are McDonald's in the United States. Yep, you heard that right. Germany is estimated to have 25,000 castles, and there are around 13,000 McDonald's locations in America.   In Washington state, there's a real-life law stating it's illegal to kill bigfoot and other sasquatch-like creatures.

DREAD f you’re anticipating something positive, you’re probably motivated to summon all your patience to wait for it—and sometimes for extended time periods. It may be counter-intuitive, yet in certain instances such waiting can itself be gratifying. Consider Carly Simon’s song “Anticipation,” the old Heinz ketchup ads, and—especially—recent research pointing in the opposite direction as regards awaiting something highly aversive. In this post I won’t be reviewing ketchup commercials, but I will be exploring some intriguing research on dread-infused anticipation.

So an update from me.   Had my endo appointment last night. Went very well and they are sending 3 months supply of estrogen (estradoil patches) and the anti-androgens whilst my Dr gets a shared care agreement sorted out. So happy, should start HRT tomorrow!! Cost for the 3 month supply is £70 total for me, so not too bad. Not told my parents about this yet, but them being in spain, not sure they need to know yet.   Can't wait to start, just got to think about where to put the patches now and wait for the changes...

Good Morning    well it’s Friday for most, pay day for some.  For me it’s pay day but not Friday.  I work the same opening shift tomorrow.  I typically have Friday on Saturday and Monday on Tuesday.     @KymmieL it does sound like your shop has an issue and you are smack in the thick of it.  The new gal or guy often is.  We have an issue with new people not getting fully trained before being turned loose on customers.  Some struggle through it and some quit because of it.  I try to get them working with customers as quickly as I can but I stay right with them observing, helping, even jumping in when things are getting backed up to keep the stress down.  Not everything comes up during training so when things do, even later after trying is done, I try to help and explain.  Our ASM feels that once she has you scanning barcodes and taking money she is done training.  Generally, refuses to train me on things that she does, and questions why I’m doing something that she normally handles when I’ve been told to do it as part of my advancement training.     She and the cashier involved both keep trying to toss the manager under the bus over a hours of work issue and shifts.  I tell her I realize her issues and I’ll work what ever she needs.  Because of that I tend to get a better more consistent schedule.   Well, time to say Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.   Hi ho Silver, away   Willow

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.

I firmly believe I drank entirely to much for about 25 years. Got drunk every day. This was my coping mechanism to keep hiding deep inside that I was a woman. I miss a lot of signs over the years. Now I drink mabye 1 or 2 beers a day don't even get a buzz anymore. totally accept myself and on regret is that I hide that part of my self which  truly makes me happy being violet 💜. I wasted a lot of time before  being self destructive and had no clue I was just hiding th real me

Well it not morning and I haven’t been on her for a while but it’s nice to be back.  Did some catching up on everyone.  I do have a question, how is Toronto Canada for a get away? Is it a safe and friendly area for us to go.  The wife and I are looking for some where to go to allow me to be my true self.     thanks in advance
