So....yeah.

They're coming here to protest Tim McLean's funeral.... (The poor kid who was killed on the greyhound)

It just pisses me off so much. I may go join the other people going to block Westboro from the church.

It's sickening.

I hope you do go, along with thousands of others. These idiots are a festering scab on the name of Christianity.

Right on! You should totally go down. That's so horrible to not give someone the respect they deserve. Thank you for being a part of that.

Why are they protesting it? I read McLean's whole story on wikipedia and I don't understand why anyone would protest it.

This is what was on their site:

God Hates Canada.

Yes, indeed. The irreversible curse of God

upon f*gs and f*g-enablers - the "botch of

Egypt...that cannot be healed." Dt. 28:27.

God is punishing Canada,

for passing laws against

WBC - by exposing

Canadians as cannibals

and highway decapitaters.

WBC prays for more and

worse calamities from God.

We’ll picket their funerals.

The Headless Canadian

Tim McLean Jr.

Westwood Community Church

401 Westwood Drive

Winnipeg, Canada

Saturday, August 9, at 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

They are protesting because they are a cult of ignorant, bigoted hate mongers. They hate everything and everyone who doesn't fit into their narrow minded interpretation of the Bible. These people are a blight on true Christianity.

Holy man, are these people insane and fanatics.

What pisses me off is all these people that proclaim that they are Christians who believe in God yet they don't have any God like qualities. :banghead:

Anyway, thanks for trying to attend and giving him and his family your support.

Westboro make fundameltalists seem sane, and that's a pretty big feat.

As annoying as they are, they do have the right to protest, it's such a shame that their protests make abselutely no sense. They claim that they are trying to save people's souls by telling them the 'truth' (LOL) and yet saying it is too late to change, making their protsests completely irrelevent. Plenty of the members are hypocrites themselves, Fred Phelp's daughter had a child outside of wedlock and she's one of their most recognised members FFS!

To be fair, there are so many interpretations of Christianity that there isn't even a 'true' modern day Christianity at all. The ammount of translations and book that were deemed not good enough to go into the Bible, along with many contradictions (some backing up Westboro, though you only have to look at older texts and translations to prove them wrong) mean fundamentalist groups such as this can rise.

This is really scary, what is going on with this world? :(

Havn't these people got better things to do than try to enforce their blunt minded opinions on others?

Sure they are free to protest, but didn't God also gift us ALL with the freedom of choice?

Why can't they protest on useful things like improving medical care, cheaper fuel prices or improved law enforcement on violence and crime?

they're protesting this because they think that canada's society is "evil" by allowing and supporting things such as adultery, abortion, and homosexuality. they think it will make society better if these things and others are not allowed. I agree with them on adultery and abortion and I think society would be better without them. they may not be perfect, but we're not either. theres probably some hypocrites around here too in some way or another. I don't think they really hate everyone, but they might. they just want to make Earth the best it can be.

Hate and bigotry doesn't make the world a better place it makes it worse. Hate is the main theme of their website That's hardly a "True" Christian act. Protesting is one thing but picketing the funerals of those who haven't done anything wrong is cruel and heartless. Imagine how those families feel. They picket the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraqu. Fanaticism in any form is unacceptable. Is it any wonder that people equate WBC with terrorists and extremists? The only difference is they use vile words and outragous hurtful behavior as their ammunition. If you or I did the same thing at a funeral we'd be arrested. If you hate in the name of God as a church it's free speech.

I think abortion is ok... it's a necessary evil. What's even better than abortion is NOT CONCEIVING IN THE FIRST PLACE if you know you can't afford to support/raise the child instead of abusing welfare by having more kids. If the government started sterilizing stupid people then maybe we wouldn't need abortion.

In my own little perfect world stupid people would be sterilized, and abortion would only be for rape victims. Oh wait, since it's my own little impossible fantasy world, there'd be no rape, either. Gas would also be 50 cents a gallon and we'd all get an SUV on our 16th birthday.

well they picket at funerals to try and educate the people at the funerals about certain topics not to say that the dead person did something wrong. As in this case, they want to picket to show that canada is evil. While they may show a lot of hate I think their message is to just remove these evils from society. but they happen to show it in a demeaning, hateful way. I think that instead of dropping to their level, we shouldn't so heavily criticize and accuse them of doing something wrong and instead of calling them bigots or idiots we should simply disagree with what they say.

I just noticed this thread, but can't they be arrested under Canada's Hate Speech laws? I certainly hope so.

The Westboro protesters had threatened to picket the funeral with the message that McLean's death was God's punishment for Canada's policies that enable homosexuality, abortion and adultery. They never came, following promises by the Winnipeg Police Service anyone disrupting the funeral would be facing arrest. Several members of the group also were turned away from the Canadian border Thursday after Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day issued an alert.

Yay Canada! Well actually I wish they let them in, then arrested them.

WRONG..WRONG...WRONG......I disagree with them and they ARE idiots and bigots! Their message IS hate! There is a time and a place for everything and at someone's funeral is neither!

Not only is it disrespect to the dead, but, disrespect to the family and friends. How low..how cruel!

It does not matter if Canada is evil or the USA or the Iraq war or abortion or red M&M's! Do not try to educate me at my loved ones funeral! These people are hate mongers with no redeeming qualitys and this behavior is the lowest one can sink and still be within the law!

This makes me so mad I could spit green! A lot of things are legal, but, they are not altogether good and fair...I served in the air force in Viet Nam so people in this country have the rights that they have....free speech to say what they want, but, you DO NOT just walk up to someone and call them ugly or fat or stupid-the universe thrives on common sense. A lot of people's message is to remove the evils from society, but, how do you remove an evil by creating another?????? Hate is hate! You can't put a fire out with more fire!

These people are evil and just because they wrap themselves in the bible it gives them no cart blanche to do whatever they want and then shout GOD is with us! Hitler studied for the priesthood and Saddam was a devout Muslim - the inquisition was religious as were the Salem witch trials...Good things????

If these meatheads have a problem with Canada, let them picket Canada....not the poor fellow who died a violent and senseless death!

I try to live a peaceful and good life and it has taken years to get to this point with more ahead of me, but, this sort of thing just gets me hot in ways that I really don't want to feel....

I'm crying now, so ............

Not of people usually, but places have a "color sense" to me.  Not exactly visual, but like a feeling.  Almost a taste or sometimes tactile.    My home, and the temple of my faith community both have a strong feeling of "silver."  A tasteable, nearly tactile radiance...it means safety, and I seek it out.  It kind of transfers to people associated with those places, like my husband.  I knew he was good the moment I met him.  Some places have a color sense like fire, a combination of red and orange.  As you might expect, it is an exciting or dangerous feeling.  Attractive in a way.  Part of me is drawn toward it, another part of me is skittish of it.  Other places have a blue/green color sense, which can be iridescent toward purple-ish.  Its peaceful and calm.    What I really don't like is a sickly, greenish-gray color.  I can't even describe it fully.  The sense is slimy, slick, cold and revolting.  To me, it is a feeling of intense danger about a place or a person.  I'm usually more oblivious to the other color senses, but this one grabs my attention.  To me, it is associated with pure evil.    One of my strongest impressions of the evil color it happened at a natural spring in a state park near where I live.  I was walking around with a friend and I felt it, and she thought I was totally crazy.  I wanted to leave so bad, just terrified.  Thankfully she followed me out.  I only found out later that a murderer had escaped from prison and was recaptured there...he had been living near the spring, and we were maybe within 200 yards of him.  My color sense probably saved our lives.

Not exactly.  Me alone - I'm helpless and can hardly do anything.  But with my partners I'm protected and supported, and a lot more things are possible for me.    My husband teaches a lesson to his kids when they fight, I've seen him do this a couple of times.  He'll hand them a bundle of sticks tied together, and tell the kids to try to break it.  Of course, it doesn't work.  Then he takes the bundle apart, and tells them to break the sticks one by one.  One person alone is easily overwhelmed or broken.  Two or more people together can stand firm against adversity.

When I joined it was purely a play on Maybe. Mae happens to have a couple letters in common with my given name and I started using it when introducing myself to strangers. Since then, actually yesterday, when I caught up with an old friend and told her about my transition she thought she heard "Maeve" when I said "Mae". I could still use Mae as a nickname, it works well with my mother's name as a middle name (she died in 2019 and I love the idea of connecting with her memory more), and my initials wouldn't change if I change my name. So, Maeve it will likely be unless something better comes along. ;)

I've not had a lot of involuntary action in that department and I'm 6mo in. After 3mo. my T was under 30. My doc wanted labs mid-cycle (3-4 days after my shot) oddly, but I am going to insist on getting trough numbers to determine if T is pushing back when serum E is low. I almost felt like I was going to have MW yesterday morning when I woke up (day of my shot), so I get where your thoughts are on the subject. It would be good to know how long that suppression lasts, not that T&E levels are complete indicators--my doctor doesn't seem to have any plans to check for the broader spectrum of metrics I see a lot on forums like SHBG, etc.

Take two   blood letting is complete it took two of them pesky little mosquitoes.   our dog came to us mostly potty trained. She had a few “I can’t wait” moments but for the most part she was good.  She learned to ask th be let out. We had a bell on the door and taught her to ring the bell.  Then she learned how to open the door herself.  As long as it wasn’t locked out she’d go.  We had her trained to a hidden fence and collar she would go to the limit and sit and wait for us to tell her it was ok. She has always responded to verbal commands or my whistles.   Oh and there are obvious negatives about a dog knowing how to open doors.  She would disappear and we’d suddenly see her out the window.  Or we’ would let her out and suddenly realize she was sitting with us.  She never learned to close the doors, only open then.
