How Do I Look?

Hi,

Well here I am showing my face on Laura's. It's me in a pink wig i bought off ebay back in April for a cheap price just for experimentation. I've worn it sometimes since then and i feel i see a girl in some ways, but not entirely. So do i pass as female? I want your honest opinions.

I think you look good. There is such a sweet feminine look to your face. My favorite pic is the last

Pics can only tell how you look so I can't say if you pass because so much has to do with mannerisms, attitude and voice but going by the pics you look really good.

Hi there Southern Girlbiggrin.gif

I agree that number 4 is the most effective. I looked at all of them to try and figure out why. I think the head down and slight sidelong glance is a definite feminine mannerism and it works for you. Number three is the least effective for me because I have been around male teens who project a masculine territorial thing with the head slightly elevated and lookin' at ya... but thats just my response. I'm guessing it may just be the angle of the laptop's camera? All in all, very nice, especially when you thin the browssmile.gif

Best wishes

Oh my goodness.....I've been wondering what you look like.....

You have very nice features and you'll do great...

Pass?...mannerisms, attitude and voice have an equal part with looks.....

Work on the whole package....ok?

Oh girl, I did have a curiosity what what you look like, so thank you for feeling secure enough to show a photograph, that is a very huge step. First let me comment on your pink wig? It seems to match your avatar perfectly, so do you see yourself that way? It's so much fun! I think women need to be outrageous once in a while. I see grown women, almost as old as me, streak their hair or dye a large front strand red, not auburn, but bright red. It is such an expression of freedom to be whatever you want to be as a woman.

As to you? Of course it is only a head shot but yes dear-heart, you should do fine.

Thanks everyone for replying back :)

I know i will have to work on mannerisms and such. Currently, i'm working on getting slimmer because i hate how my body looks now. I just couldn't help getting a pink wig because i fantasize about having pink hair, but i fantasize about having black hair too. I really feel i look better having long hair like that. I might upload more pictures if i could get somebody to take pictures of me. Developing a female voice is going to be tough though because my voice is really deep. I can pretty much sit with my legs together or crossed when i want to.

Deandra,

I think that the pink wig is perfect. When you said it was pink I thought "Oh no," then I looked at the photos and the first thing I noticed was how good it looked on you. You have very soft features that match it very well and make you look very feminine, although I agree that photo number four was the most effective.

Hey Deandra :)

I agree, number 4 is the best. I think i can see a woman in there. Not sure about the pink wig, but if it's you then go for it :)

(That said, i seem to have picked up a lot of pink things recently...)

My voice is very deep too - i can sometimes sing a bottom E, and no higher than middle C. Think i'm making progress on it when i try though. Resonance is the key, apparently.

Just going on photos, you definitely project a feminine but confident look--actually, something about your eyes and the way you're giving a little half smile in some of the photos reminds me of Naomi Campbell. I can totally visualize you with makeup and a cool-yet-sexy outfit. Like others have said, it's hard to tell how you'd come across in person because I have no idea what your voice is like, how you carry yourself, etc.

Thanks Davie! And don’t worry, I didn’t take it that way. It’s just such a big topic I can only hope to tackle it one bit at a time.

This is not uncommon.  I started out going to the therapist in androgynous clothing: from the women's department, but plausibly masculine.  What made it easier was when I started going to a trans peer support group.  Most of the people there were presenting fully feminine, so I looked out of place in my androgynous clothing.  The peer pressure made it easier to dress in skirts.   I started out changing in a gender-neutral bathroom near the meeting room.  But I soon started wearing skirts in the car to and from the meetings.   Yes, it was nerve-wracking at first, but I soon realized that no one was looking and no one cared.    You can do this.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.
