Michelle Bachmann Clinic "curing" Homosexuals?

CNN.com is reporting that the business Michelle Bachmann has touted on her campaign tour as being responsible for creating jobs, has apparently engaged, or is currently practicing "reparative therapy" to cure homosexuals and turn them straight. This therapy apparently involves religious counseling and other forms of "treatment."

This woman is very dangerous, and the LGBT Community should be alarmed at the prospect, however seemingly remote, of her becoming President.

There was apparently a news report on this that I missed but my daughter was telling me about it. There are gay groups and some gay politicians who have been explaining the suicide rate and other damage after those sessions. The gay groups have vowed to see that her career is ended as well as her clinic.

I haven't had a chance to look it up so my information is second hand as it were but I suspect fundamentally accurate.

Thanks for bringing it up Carolyn. You are always so good about keeping us informed.

It was actually her husband that runs the clinic, although I'm betting it's with her blessing. She is dangerous to the LGBT community.

Most of what I'd want to say about the subject and the Bachmann's is inappropriate language, so I'll just sum it up by saying these are horrible people. :|

Agreed. Michele Bachmann is a horrible person. I just read her words from a 2004 speech where she said this was a lifestyle. No, being an ignorant bigot is a lifestyle choice.

Michelle Bachman and her husband are very dangerous people both.

Tuesday night on the Dailey Show Jon Stewart had a segment about her that was quiet pointed and funny. Also Kathy Griffin, the comedienne, has a routine she does about encountering Michelle Bachman at an awards show and a conversation they ahd where Kathy aks her in end, "So tell me,were you born a bigot or did you make a life style choice?" and Michelle Bachman responded by saying, "Gee that is a good question, let me get back to you on that."

Carolyn,

The focus is on her now since she is running as a presidential candidate. There are and have been other groups out there doing the same for decades. I interviewed a few people in the 80s who left and were not converted. Very hard when you sit across and watch a human being and see the effects. She will be forgotten once the next media sound byte rolls in. I don't think she stands a chance but it is important to expose such misguided people.

Since I am from Minnesota I am going to do some personal investigation of this issue. I am a conservative politically and I believe the press generally has a left wing slant. I will however call a spade a spade if it turns out to be true.

Being an East Coaster, my perception might be a little tainted.

In my daily negotiations with straight society, I've never met anyone who took the whole "curing homosexuals" thing seriously, except for the type of people who are not taken seriously themselves. I think the Bachmanns' supporters are easily outnumbered by their detractors left- and right-wing alike, and absolutely overwhelmed by the apathetic.

I'm kind of cranky today, but I'm not wasting a fit of apoplexy on them. I'll just say "screw 'em" and move on.

Like they say I suppose, The ones that are the worst are usually making the most noise. Only way they can get people to believe them.

Can someone tell what and when being a good person went right out the window? Common sense seems to be a thing of the past.

I don't see how these political peoples minds get so warped. Some person here in politics thinks we shouldn't feed our school kids as much, that they learn better when they are a little hungry and it will cure obesity. I mean really? REALLY? What crazy bus did that person fall off of. Exactly how do they even get in office. Its just insane, you got people telling us we are the devil and total whack jobs, yet its perfectly ok to starve children these days. Now that is some truly messed up logic.

Oh well on to the next one.

There were some gay groups who sent undercover people into her or her husbands clinics with a hidden camera and it is indeed true they believe that they can pray away the gay and they take a religious approach to therapy.

Sad... I was hopeful at first... let me know when a decent candidate for president comes along please?

To believe that you can pray away being Gay is not the worst thing in the world. I for years thought I could pray away being transsexual. We need to remember that this Gay man asked for treatment in order not to be gay. He put the therapist in a position to come up with a solution to his problem and the therapist said prayer. It isn't far from any of the twelve step programs out there and nobody is complaining about there use of prayer to help with addictions. The clinic is holding itself out as a christian therapy center I would really expect nothing different from them, they believe in the power of prayer and I do too. It may help some people. I don't know of many if any but I would never bet against the creator of the universe.

No fire, just maybe a slight love tap.

To even suggest that prayer is a "solution" to being gay is in and of itself full of unearned hubris and magnificent ignorance in my humble opinion.

You can not pray away something that you were born with no more than you can pray away being black, being of a certain descent or being born with other genetic traits.

What you CAN choose is what religion you subscribe to, something that even the mention of would make people like Bachman's head explode in blasphemic rage. Maybe that is why they think that they can change us simply by the power of their supposed savior.

For the record, as most here have only known me online and briefly, I am one of the most tolerant people you will ever meet. If whatever you believe in helps you be a better person and gives you peace of mind and soul, more power to you, but when your belief system starts to preach that you are better than others solely based on what you subscribe to and as a result think that is somehow your duty in life to push your beliefs onto others is where you and I are going to tangle.

You have the right to believe what you wish and in this country, you even have the right to say what you wish, despite it being at times hurtful and born of ignorance and bigotry but you have NO right to deny rights to others based upon your closed minded belief system and as such Michelle Bachman and her darling husband can (pardon my french) go to hell.

They make supplements for hair growth I have been using one for four months and it is now at 6" long when I had nothing before. Although I take more than the pills. I take growth spray, oil, and a supplement that is added to a drink. My hair is very healthy. Unfortunately it's very curly so it'll take longer to grow

That's a toughy to say. But I do know that it's an area for improvement with me. I can get pretty down on myself sometimes. I guess I have to remember that I'm human just like everyone else, not perfect. And that's okay.   Lots of love, Timber Wolf 🐾🪻

Good morning    On this date in 1972 it was a Saturday. I  made a pledge to love and honor my wife and keep her forsaking all others.  I have kept those vows and here we are celebrating our 52nd anniversary still together.  Still caring for each other through sickness and in health.  Still sharing our lives.   Other than that, it’s another day near the beach.  80 and mostly sunny.     I found a ‘17 GMC Acadia yesterday I want to take a look at.  It’s a bit more than I wanted to spend but it’s doable. Only 69k miles on it, with the low mileage I put on cars these days it probably won’t ever hit 100k if I do beget it.  Low mileage now is  likely because it was a leased car at some point. Those usually get pretty good care and not a lot of miles.  It would be similar in size to my Ford, 7 passenger seating but a more basic trim which is fine.  It only has a 4 cyl engine so potentially rather under powered for a relatively large SUV.  The ford has a 4.0liter 6 which is a bit large for cars these days.  Instead of full time all wheel drive, it apparently has 4 modes, 2, 4, sport (what ever that is, I presume it’s over drive turned off) and anti slip.  It’s probably not going to happen but I am keeping my eyes open for a good deal. The old Ford is just that, an old worn out Ford.  Since I bought the Ford I’ve only put about 10k miles on it in 6 years.  My daughter once had an Acadia, top trim package.  When she was driving back and forth to work close to 100 miles per day and going to Philadelphia every week another 500 or more.  For her the miles added up fast.   still keeping my eyes open.  This is about the right age and size but I was hoping to spend about $2000 less.   Other than that I hope to meet with my minister today about paper topics for my class submission.   Other than that Monday is laundry day so I’ll be doing several loads of laundry today.     I put on a neutral gel nail polish last night.  I tried this before, however, I don’t believe I correctly understood the how to get a good result so I was more careful this time.  All I want it’s to give my bpfinger nails enough strength to grow out just a little and stop tearing.   Well, I need to call to make an urology appointment.   @Birdiei was born in Ohio and until Lamda Legal sued them you could not get a sex change on a birth certificate for any reason.  Now you can.  In South Carolina a name change requires $300 and a form filled out and filed with the clerk of courts.  But a gender change requires a birth certificate with the new gender listed.  I am hoping they will permit gender X eventually but right now the state is too Red to do any such thing.   Willow

I have the problem, that I see myself at 3 maybe 4 on the list. I don't have the self love that I should have.   What does it mean to you?   Kymmie

Seems the stuffy day-centre has swapped out Psychiatric Services and therapy to the local BSA hospital. BSA works closely with the local university and is much more gender accepting than the day-centre. The day-centre's psychiatrist wanted to treat me for gender dysphoria by correcting it. 🙄   I logged into MyChart app at the hospital and updated my preferred name (Birdie) and preferred gender marker for them to use.  I'll try and get a referral for gender therapy at the hospital as well.    Nevada is my place of birth and I found out changing the gender marker on my birth certificate there only requires a letter from a licensed therapist, but a name change still requires a court order.    Changing the gender marker to female would at least be one step in the right direction, then I could renew my ID to state female instead.

Well today by attention wise was downright horrible. My legs can't stay still, can't focus on a project, my mind wanders around a lot, constantly fidgeting, easily distracted, couldn't even tell you what the sermon was about but there was vine on the altar and attention to detail sucks. I have read that it is possible to have BPD and ADHD. My mind even wanders during prayer. If I have both I won't be able to take Adderall because it makes my BPD symptoms worse. I keep having side effects that come up from my 3 traumatic brain injuries.

If it wasn't so *EVIL*, I would have to laugh.  Everyone knows that trans women in particular have such an overwhelming superiority in poetry that the competition would be unfair if they were allowed to enter.  You can't make this stuff up!   Seriously, sorry for making light of it.  But it is only by highlighting the utter absurdity of this kind of crap, whether it occurs in Russia or Florida, that I am able to hang on to any shred of sanity.

I used to fully agree with this statement, that is, until the first lockdown   Everyone I knew around me was affected by the pandemic. they couldn't work. they couldn't see their friends. they felt bored/ frustrated they couldn't get out of the house   and then there was me who welcomed it, because for once in my life, I didn't feel like a loser- and after lockdown, when everyone looked forward to going back to work or going out, well.. I had nothing- and I felt that no, I wasn't normal because I didn't have a life to get back to
