Another Arbitrary Date Has Arrived

Sally

Recommended Posts

Well here I am again looking at that date circled on my calendar - what will happen to cause another delay - nothing because it already has.

I have been trying to come out at work so that I can be myself all of the time and each time I have picked a date something has happened - two of the assistant managers that work directly with me have left - at different times - making me move the date each time, my father died and that date slipped by unnoticed, now I am ready - August first.

What could go wrong and actually already did - my manager is leaving for another company - this time instead of just pushing it off again I have decided to use this as a chance for a fresh start instead of a delay - the new manager may be someone that I have never even met and this would be a chance for a totally new beginning and if it is someone I know, I can help them adjust to their new position while they adjust to the 'new' me.

So either on Monday or Tuesday (depending on her schedule) I will meet with our HR director and make my simple request for a new name tag - "This one is horribly misspelled - I spell it S-A-L-L-Y."

It is about time and besides that makes August a huge month - in this month I have my 3 year anniversary here, my 2 year anniversary on HRT and my 1 year anniversary at my job here in New Orleans - I might get my name change done this month so I can put a tight little cluster of important dates on my calendar.

I am looking forward to this with a good deal of nervousness but no self doubts - just worried a bit about a couple of the other employees - it should go well my company rates a 100 on diversity policies.

I will get a time table for how they want to handle this because they are responsible for the training of the other employees in the anti-harassment policies.

Love ya,

Sally

I understand how much stress that is building inside you. Know that once you come out at work there will be a big sigh of relief.

Ironically Aug 2 is a day I set in the calendar too. It is the day I'm going full-time away from work.

I know that this is going to work out since your company is transgender friendly.

Sally:

Hey, a pun is DEFINITELY intended here, but it seems like life is granting you "poetic justice" in the sense that many very good things are coming your way simultaneously (moreorless) after you've endured so much disappointment.

You GO, Girl !

You're a beautiful soul and much respected and beloved by the entire crew here at The Playground.

Peace :welldone: Lacey

I got palpitations just reading that. I'm so ready and yet no where near ready.

I would wish you luck, but that would imply that you need it, oh what the heck, good luck.

Hi Sally,

I hope your day went well.

Mine fell face-down when the HR person was on vacation. What's another week?

All dressed up and nowhere to go...

Love, Kat

Oh Kat, that is such bad luck. I am so sorry that happened.

Sally - I'm here with a prayer, good wishes and loving thoughts. You know sweetheart, you are always talking about not having courage but like the cowardly lion, in truth you have it in unrecognized abundance,

Love you both

I am so sorry to hear that Kat.

Still it is only one week - unless she gets a longer vacation or is actually taking a sabbatical - I hope not!

I won't know for sure if mine is there until I go in around 2, I am scheduled to work starting at 3.

Well, I am home now and I guess you want to know how things went - my HR Director was in - she is also a remarkable lady.

I am her first transgendered employee transitioning on the job - she is going on leave at the end of the month so she wants to have everything done before that - she does not want to hand it over to someone else - she wants to do it and get it right!

My store manager returns from vacation on Friday, she will talk to him then and they will start the meetings with the other managerial staff and the employees that work with me and by the end of next week ---- will disappear and it is Sally FOREVER!

LOVE YA,

Sally

Dear, Sweet Sally. I am sorry I'm late to this thread, but it appears I arrived at just the right time.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I know the congrats should really come on your first day of workplace transition, but in a way, telling HR and the bosses is a really hard thing to do, and a major accomplishment.

I know without a doubt that this is the right thing to do, at the right time, and its going to go just fine. You are an excellent employee, I think you're well liked and respected, and you have the support of HR. Its going to be a long couple of weeks just waiting, but it will be worth it.

I'm smiling ear to ear right now, girl. I'm so very proud of you. You ROCK!

Love

Sally,

I signed on finally yesterday and saw this thread, waited for you to get home, so I could be the first one to officially say Congrats! Well, after Dee Jay and Julie but anyway I digress.

Alas, I fell asleep! Yes, I was that exhausted.

So now I am awake and you have to imagine me running around yelling WTG Sally. I don't care if it is odd; I am happy for you. And I knew it would be positive even before your official update.

Hugs and Love ya,

John

Sally-how can I express how happy I am for you? Words just can't quite capture this warm lovely feeling.

I knew that it would be this way because you are a sweet wonderful woman who is always wise as well but I understand how difficult it was. I hope one day you can see the beautiful qualities in yourself, including your amazing courage, that I do. That we all do.

It warms my heart to picture your happiness and the extra peace that will come with being Sally all day, every day.

Love you!

  • 3 weeks later...

Just to give you all another update - things have been pretty crazy at work - my manager came home from vacation to a store inventory - an new manager over my department and a new branch manager over him - we talked yesterday and he said that we would have a meeting this coming week with me, the HR lady and him to set the game plan in motion - he knows what is required of him and next week his new boss will be in Dallas so he said that it would be the perfect time.

He does not seem to feel that there will be any problems.

Feeling pretty good at the moment - I'll let you know what happens next.

Love ya,

Sally

Hi Sally,

You're rolling now! I'm so glad it's finally happening for you - it's been a long struggle to get here, and soon it will be behind you.

I hope the rest of this goes quickly and painlessly!

Love, Megan

My name is Jennifer, and used to be a part of this forum, going back to Laura's' Playground. I already know quite a few of the people here. I started transition about 15 years ago. My  gender markers are changed with Social Security and birth certificate. The reason I am returning is I believe I can help guide newer members through the pitfalls of their transitioning experience.   I lived in Arizona, and now live in Maine. And the first thing I want to emphasize is where you live can matter a lot. In Maine, I work in a hospital, and find many of my co-workers very accepting. I find the women more understanding and enjoy my journey more. Of course, this is a small sample, and your mileage may vary.    What I found as one of the most important topics when choosing a place to live. I found only one transgender doctor who understands, or is willing to monitor my HRT. But, he has stopped his regular practice and only sees some of his regular patients on Wednesday mornings. He has changed his career and teaches residents the rest of the week. He told me he wanted to teach other doctors how to work with transgender clients. This subject is woefully lacking in Medical School. I was using the transdermal patch, and we agreed to switch to estradiol valerate. He is working on more feminizing my body. I don't doubt he will be supportive when I decide to go through my surgery, hopefully next year. I will be on Medicare and they support surgery, if it is considered medically necessary.    That is enough for now, and I appreciate this site for all the help with transgender support.   Jennifer

trump only knows how to tear down and destroy. Actually doing something positive and building anything up seems to be beyond his grasp. It's such a a shame that so many people are so bent on trump's hatred and anger. Unhappy people all ☹️

We have customers real picky,I have a couple old bed sheets that I put over the seats.I order the paper floor mats that used and new car dealer use put on the floor. One customer, will complain if he sees a grease mark and knows it is not from me.

Not sure how you think that Trumps edicts will not make it through the courts. He owns them too. I can see Trump nominating Alina Habba to the Supreme Court. The Rs have already tainted the states with anti-trans legislation. Unless there is a huge blue wave in November that nobody sees coming, we will continue to be harassed. I am resigned to the fact that one day, we could be rounded up, and that is that. I would just as soon get it over with. All of the machinations about Trump breaking the law, and all of the punditry occurring in the media, is for naught. This guy has outclassed any efforts of organized crime to avoid punishment. It truly is amazing to watch how he mesmerizes members of his own party into being mindless.

Not everything Trump tries will make it through the courts.  I think Biden is blowing it big time in not trying to get trans-friendly legislation through Congress but instead he's relying on easily reversed regulations.     The DOE should be abolished. I agree. Hopefully that will happen.
    • Abigail Genevieve
Not everyone is a single issue voter.  If you are convinced Biden is destroying the country as a whole and Trump is not, you may well vote for Trump.

This should be a reminder to everybody that the president is not the legislature. Anything done by one president, can be undone by the next one. It just goes back and forth.   As for title IX, I'm against it. Not because of the protection that offers, but because I am against Federal involvement in education.  I would love to have a president and A legislature that would abolish Department of Education at the federal level. Even the states version of it is bad enough. Education is a local issue.

"Defam ation of character" means to make false statements about a person, to cause ruin to a person's reputation, which what happened to me. Your right, there is little I can do about other than visiting websites where I feel welcomed.

Yeah @Ivy pet pass doors are an open invitation for wildlife to come in.    When I had hunting dogs 20+ years ago I had a side kennel with a pet pass door so the dogs could bed down in the garage. They kept uninvited animals out while we were home. However once we went hunting the raccoons figured out they could help themselves out to a free meal and water. My wife made me put a latch on it so she didn’t have to deal with them.    Hugs   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

My kitty has a litter box, which she uses on occasion.  But she prefers to make me get up to led her out. I could install a "cat door" but I'm afraid it would be used more by the possums and raccoons.  I have had possums in the house more than once - even without one.
