Yay, Another Friend In My Corner

So I got to chatting on FB with one of my friends who I've known since high school this evening. After chatting for about 10 minutes, I was getting frustrated filtering my responses and said the heck with it. I mean she's a good enough friend that we have stayed in contact for half our lives even living in different states, and I make a point to stop and see her whenever I pass through AZ.

Well when she asked what was news with me, I kinda hedged for a second then told her "well it's not something I am ready to have be general knowledge yet..."

 Got a nail stuck in my keyboard just then and she responded, "It's cool, you don't have to share if you're not ready."

Nail unstuck finally, "lol, it's okay, what would you say if I told you typing with acrylic nails is an interesting change, and that's just the tip of the iceberg?

Her response, "Yeah, I love the clicky sound though don't you?"

ok, this will be a good conversation, I can already tell. so I dove in and said, "well, I am working on being a girl all of the time instead of only once in a while or in the closet as it were, when I can't stand it any more. Well yeah, since I can't stand it anymore pretty much all the time..."

"ohh, that's cool. My niece, who is 12, lives as a boy. bleh, I mean my nephew, he and my son love to hang out and play together." (guessing it's pretty new, but she instanty corrected herself. not something for me to comment on anyway.)

After that we got chatting about all sorts of stuff for about 2 hours, and somehow I got talked into doing her nails for her next time I stop by cuz she always messes them up when she does them herself and her daughter is in the late teen rebelious phase and doesn't want to hang with mom anymore.

Of course now I'm stuck coming out to her SO who I have also known since high school before I visit them next time, not sure he will react as well but he will probably be cool. I know he's open minded about sexuality at the very least. It'll be more the shock factor with him.

Lol, I just know I will be hoarse tomorrow from singing too much, y'know my happy response!

Cheers,

<3

Hey, I love it ... just LOVE it!

Stories like this deserve an awesome song, don't they? Well, go to YouTube and search for "Truckin'" by The Grateful Dead. Look for a video of them in the 1960s or 1970s doing that song. Then, crank it UP! They're playin' your song.

Like Kat above, your posts are awesome to read and always make my day. Heck, lot's of people feel this way but probably will not say so. Your longtime friend is on board. How cool is THAT? VERY cool!

Keep on coming out to people as you choose to do so. Think you're gonna be surprised at some of their responses ... in a good way actually.

Peace & Thanks  Lacey Lynne

Elena,

It really is nice when the friends we really care about care about us too. I get so happy and even tears begin to form when people are accepting like this. It is so wonderful and I am very happy for you.

That is just so cool!

It's amazing how often we are accepted by old friends. And now you can share all the girly stuff too.

Y'know, the best part I think is being able to finally shut off the word filters around those lifelong friends who just love us no matter what. I just realized except for my first wife this is the first friend I've known since high school that I've told. It is also such a huge relief to have at least one friend with sooo much history that I know I will always be there.

:giggles: Saying we have a lot of shared history is like the understatement of the century. Seriously, her oldest daughter's dad is married to my best friend's wifes brother, who is married to my 2nd wifes best friend. And I've actually known my best friend's wife and her brother longer than I've known him. Hell, I introduced them to each other. My friends in AZ met each other through our whole group of friends in high school dated off and on back then and ran into each other again about a year and a half ago. Got back together, and now living together. I got calls and messages from both of them saying, "You'll never guess who I caught up with again after all these years." So now he's trying to hide the fact that he's saving up to buy her a ring. Goddess it's like this crazy small town soap opera, only it's been spread out over 5 states over the years.

All my other friends who know are from when I was in the army, and there's an old military tradition that when soldiers catch up with each other no matter how long or how different our lives are now, you always pick up your friendship right where it left off. That's why the army is called the greatest fraternity in the world. Probably why I was comfortable telling them first for that matter. I got quite a few who thought I was closeted gay actually, and one who really was closeted gay who said he had the hots for me but was scared to approach me. DADT y'know.

Ok, I think I'm rambling now, but it's happy rambling.

Yup....on my profile page have the quote from that song..

"What a long, strange trip it's been.. "

I've had that there for 3 years now!

And, Elana..

I know what you mean....When I see Vietnam vets (with a hat or T-sirt that says that they are) I always go up to them and say the traditional greeting "Welcome home" and ask when they served...

Then I reciprocate...

I've yet to have a bad experience with that....

Congrats on your girlfriend...that is way cool!

Update on my friends in Phoenix, finally caught up with the other half and shared evrrything with him too.

Yes he was shocked for a couple minutes. Then he started asking lots of intelligent questions about how I plan to deal with different issues (ex's, kids, money, etc.) He made a point of saying I am more than welcome to stay at their place whenever I have down time nearby with no reservations. He jokingly added that M_____ would probably be thrilled to have a girlfriend to go shopping with, since she just moved to phoenix and hasn't made any gfs there yet. Which is really funny because she and I were already talking about that we have to go shopping when I manage to stop by.

So, yay, very cool!

Elena:

Wow, you have such a cool and groovy (very outdated 1960s phrase) life!

Dang, my life isn't even remotely this good. All I can say is:

Rock ON!

Peace & Cheers  Lacey Lynne

When I joined it was purely a play on Maybe. Mae happens to have a couple letters in common with my given name and I started using it when introducing myself to strangers. Since then, actually yesterday, when I caught up with an old friend and told her about my transition she thought she heard "Maeve" when I said "Mae". I could still use Mae as a nickname, it works well with my mother's name as a middle name (she died in 2019 and I love the idea of connecting with her memory more), and my initials wouldn't change if I change my name. So, Maeve it will likely be unless something better comes along. ;)

I've not had a lot of involuntary action in that department and I'm 6mo in. After 3mo. my T was under 30. My doc wanted labs mid-cycle (3-4 days after my shot) oddly, but I am going to insist on getting trough numbers to determine if T is pushing back when serum E is low. I almost felt like I was going to have MW yesterday morning when I woke up (day of my shot), so I get where your thoughts are on the subject. It would be good to know how long that suppression lasts, not that T&E levels are complete indicators--my doctor doesn't seem to have any plans to check for the broader spectrum of metrics I see a lot on forums like SHBG, etc.

Take two   blood letting is complete it took two of them pesky little mosquitoes.   our dog came to us mostly potty trained. She had a few “I can’t wait” moments but for the most part she was good.  She learned to ask th be let out. We had a bell on the door and taught her to ring the bell.  Then she learned how to open the door herself.  As long as it wasn’t locked out she’d go.  We had her trained to a hidden fence and collar she would go to the limit and sit and wait for us to tell her it was ok. She has always responded to verbal commands or my whistles.   Oh and there are obvious negatives about a dog knowing how to open doors.  She would disappear and we’d suddenly see her out the window.  Or we’ would let her out and suddenly realize she was sitting with us.  She never learned to close the doors, only open then.

It took me less than 6 months, in how my body quickly responded to hormone therapy, I was once a 40 jeans size, and now I'm comfortably wearing 12 to 14 sizes. Estrogen can speed things up and can slow things down in order to make adjustments. Seeing a treating doctor is very important to monitor the hormone levels to avoid possible side effects later on in life.

I actually have Yoga as part of my exercise routine at the moment.  Since I'm still in the first month (of three, arbitrarily chosen by me) I've only got it slated for weekends, Sat/Sun.  I am finding out though if I get a little in during my morning wake up that when I get to my cardio in the evening, my joints don't ache as much. Right now the routine is: Weekly - Minimum of 3 days of cardio Weekly - Minimum 1 day of Yoga Monthly - Single endurance jog, preferably on Sunday I want my big thighs and butt to kinda hang around, so I am going to work some cycling into the mix after the third month. So far though, with the help of the Yoga stretches, Down 14lbs in a month. Next week is month 2.  ;_;  Going to put the tredmill on a slight incline to see if I'm ready for it.  If ya don't hear from me, the tredmill ate me. Oh!  I use a product called Yoga Stack 52, so I can Yoga at home.  It's just a deck of cards with the poses, difficulty, areas they stretch, and a nifty QR code you can scan to see a demonstration.

I often see people on the political Right claiming that all the wealthy elites are funding the "Radical Left".  But what I see seems to be the opposite.  There seems to be no lack of "big money" funding the Right.  The so called "Radical Left" is completely disorganized.  The "liberal media" (controlled by the wealthy) seems to be committed to presenting "both sides" of everything (including trans issues) whereas the Right makes no such pretense.   It should be noted, that in 1930's Germany the wealthy industrialists had no problem supporting the party (that can't be mentioned here). I have seen very few on the Left (out side of a few on the fringe) supporting an authoritarian regime.  Whereas plenty on the Right seem fine with it - down to many local MAGA folks.  Most of the GOP doesn't seem willing to even commit to accepting an election that they don't win.  Both Gore and Clinton accepted their loss despite having actually won the popular vote.  (it's that pesky electoral college thing)   Some on the Right claim to be oppressed by not being allowed to oppress certain minorities.  And Rightwing authoritarianism is now considered "Patriotism."  Go figure.

Technically, it's before noon ;)   Uneventful day so far. I have my personal devices limited to 15 mins of screen time a day because I had a C lol, only problem really is the fact I do a lot of my social interaction online because most of my friends are in another state... been a little lonely, I guess? Plus I do a lot of reading and such online, and use my phone for references to draw, so there's a lot I don't have access to. So, just an annoyance now.   Anyways, fixed the C, hopefully I'll have normal things again soon ^-^   My mom's been having me take this herb pill in the mornings that is supposed to help with anxiety/ADHD-type symptoms, but I still have been having about the same amount of trouble focusing and sensory issues, so I guess it's not working haha
