"The Surgery...."

.

I fully intend on having the "The Surgery"....

Always have.......

I've jumped through the hoops and have my letter to proceed....

But, I'm 61 and if my health doesn't hold or anything else stops me, I'll still live as "me" and deal with it.

An Orchi is still viable, too, if the full surgery can't be done...

And.... as so many people that have no idea about us seem to think....I don't want the surgery just to have sex with men.....That is not even in the picture for me......

I just want to be as complete as I can be....

How 'bout you, boys and girls?

Do you desire the surgery? Is it in your plans?

Tell me 'bout it....

Yes, it is in my plans. Both top and bottom. And it is for me.

As you have already pointed out Dee Jay, finances, health, what we each need personally may differ but what remains constant is that you are a woman and I am a man.

Yes, very much so.

Face and bottom. Not for them, but for me. That my metamorphosis may be more what I imagine. So when I look at myself I don't need to use imagination to see the woman inside. That others can see who I really am as well.

... being with a man is just the icing on the cake .... bad visual.

Greetings,

Yes, ultimately I am planning to have The Surgery. I would have had it long ago had the financial aspect be a barrier I've not been able to get over. The other problem I have is that I have almost 100 know allergies to medications, everything from pain killers, sleeping aids, and antibiotics, so I'm also worried about finding a doctor who's even willing to do The Surgery on me. As for the letters for surgery, I could have them with a phone call, so that aspect of things isn't a problem.

Someday...seems to become my mantra...

Peace, love, and contentment,

Isabelle

I'm going to fly in a day before Sarah to check in and steal her spot in line :P

Yes, surgery is definitely on the agenda

Uh oh......

"Spot stealing" is not allowed!

Without a doubt, absolutely. When first started transition I was on the fence wether it was necessary. I felt I could be happy just living as a girl. I always dreamt about it, but it wasn't a reality then. Then I read the vagina thread, ( I still cry reading it) and knew I needed the surgery. Not for sex. Not so I can say I've had the surgery, but so some day my body will match my head.

I've accomplished a lot in my short 46 years. The one thing I ever really wanted is finally within sight.

Yes, I need the surgery!

Autumn.

I would love to have it. Age is an issue like Donna Jean but if I get the chance and can afford it.

At least an Orchi is a must and the sooner the better.

Top surgery becomes increasingly necessary but would be about a year out even if I had the finances. I want T to do more fat redistribution and I have more weight to lose and my skin will need time to tighten again (Please God let it tighten at least a little. I don't like looking like a candle left in the sun!)

But the finances.... Aye there's the rub.

I too have to have the surgery, I can't stand looking at myself nude in a mirror. It makes me physically ill to do so.

Take Care

I have had the Surgery in my plans from the beginning an orchi is not in the plans no matter what - I don't think it serves my purpose.

If I never have the surgery then that will be OK too - whether from finances, age, health or weight I will be me I let Sally take control a while back and that will never change.

Love ya,

Sally

Really on the fence about this, now. Before HRT, SRS was all I wanted. Now, much of that gross male quality has gone away.

But, I'd really love to have my panties fit right.

Vaginoplasty seems like a waste of resources, however. It is definately not about the sex!

Love, Meg

I have no plans for surgery.

Ditto that here.

Looks like I'm on The Drea Train too with respect to SRS/GRS.

Yes, I've got "genital dysphoria" to a large degree. However, I'm also a realist. I don't want to have sex with guys. In fact, I have not had sex with ANYBODY in about 12-13 years, so what the hey, right? Don't want the pain, as my pain threshold is low. Don't want to dilate like forever. Heck, I'll just end up as what amounts to a eunuch. However, I'm ending up as one chemically anyway, but what the hey. To me, personally, the risk-versus-benefit ratio just does not come up roses. Most likely, I'll remain nonop.

Ironically, I COULD have "the surgery" inasmuch as my insurance covers it, my gender will write my letter anytime I ask him to and I could swing it even without the insurance if I really wanted to. Hell, a really good SRS/GRS surgeon has his office about 3-4 miles from where I live. This guy apprenticed under Dr. Toby Meltzer who our fair city LOST because of half-fanniedness inasmuch as they would not duely accomodate him. It would have been EASY to do so, but nooooooo! Fools.

Speaking of Toby Meltzer, (and I'm NOT bragging, I'm just saying), in 2006-2007, I could have paid him in one payment, and I believe he's the most expensive of the SRS/GRS surgeons out there, or maybe Brassard is. Over the years, that money paid other things. However, I was not "out to myself" until 2008 or so, so this issue is moot anyway. Didn't get my HRT letter until very late in 2009.

For those of you who WANT "the surgery" in a big way, I surely hope you will be able to do so.

Peace to You  Lacey Lynne

Absolutely, positively, maybe.

Yep, that's it exactly!

Goddess knows The Surgery would make living with myself a whole heck of a lot easier. I am so early in all of this though I can't say for certain. I am definately planning for it in my bugeting though. I don't want to get to where it is a real option and then have to wait til I have the savings.

Yeah, I am grieving the man I "should" have been. He will never exist, especially not in my youth. But I don't know how to healthily go about it instead of fixating on the life that could have been.

Going to the conventions has been one of my ways to deal with this stuff.

Sorry it took me a while to respond!    I would like to get to know you. :) I only have mental disabilities. Schizoaffective disorder, depression, and anxiety. The last two are severe and very treatment-resistant. I did have physical problems for some time, but it was caused by an antipsychotic medication (Invega). It basically crippled me, muscle weakness/fatigue, basically could barely walk (used mobility devices) and doctors were useless since they didn't suspect the medication I was on! I've finally ditched antipsychotics (hopefully for good, unless my symptoms come back). I usually don't share like this, especially in person, but hey, I'm anonymous. :)   I'm not expecting reciprocation at all btw, these things are personal. There is more to us than disabilities, so tell me about yourself if you still wanna talk!

thanks for the insight ... good to know things are being well thought-out ... it is no easy topic for sure, as many of us on here have been wrestling with this stuff for years and decades...

@KymmieLWOW! He is absolutely horrible! Definitely one of the worst boss's.
    • KymmieL
Well the boss is at it again. They misplaced a work order thinking I was the last one who had it, yesterday morning. I know where it is. Last thing I did with it was put it back on the counter. He accused me a couple times of having it last and put it somewhere. Come to find out, the other boss (his wife) had taken it. she put the work order paper in the recycle box.   Has he apologized about the accusations. He!! no. I am waiting for hadies to get frost bit.   So that was my morning.  But it is finally warming up here. currently 63 and windy.   Hugs, Kymmie

I am gender fluid, leaning heavily towards trans masc. My eldest is male and despite all the "stuff" we deal with with him (autism, speech delay, etc) I found him to be easy to raise. When my middle kid (female) was born, literally the first words out of my mouth were "I don't know how to raise a girl!" And I really felt I didn't know. She showed me. She's still showing me how to exist as comfortable and completely secure in her gender expression. It is entirely awe inspiring to see all three of them feel so settled in their bodies in ways that I never, ever felt or feel to this day.

That sounded like an awesome opportunity to dress as your actual self. I have to say I'm a little jealous lol. I never got compliments from people and definitely haven't been kissed. I can imagine that part was still really nice and boosted your confidence.

I've been absent so much lately I feel as if I'll never catch up. Too much going on in our lives that's kept me away from the keyboard. and limited my time as "me."   I am so looking forward to your post on how you arrange your life. I know that I won't ever be able to fully transition so finding some happy balance is crucial for me.

Mae, you are so sweet for making this comment.   Desert Fox, you are so right.  I always knew that even though I was part-time, my motivation was way more complicated than a simple desire to wear women's clothes.   Your question is a timely one because in my next post, I am going to talk about how compartmentalized my life is, and the short answer is yes.  I have friends who only know Sally, friends who only my male persona, and a rare few that know both.

@EasyE With my background in Behavioral Sciences I do go to actual conferences for the medical and psychological professionals that deal with Trans Youth, and in those conferences, the ethics of "too fast" versus "too slow and restrictive" are a heavy concern.  There is very thoughtful sharing among the participants for making professional judgments that the therapist is comfortable with without being afraid of what is "too soon" or "not soon enough" to advance to medical prescription therapies. The ethics of what constitute reasonable caution or unreasonable delay are deeply at play in those situations, with the idea to prevent harm while alleviating the patient's stress and other issues.  This type of conference fulfills Continuing Education license requirements that most states and other areas have.  From them the therapist may seem to "speed up" their evaluation process, but it is based on the accumulated experience of colleagues, just as is true in other professions and yes, even trades.

That's wonderful news!! I took our pup in for her Vet check today - perfect. She slept 7 hours last evening and is coming along really well with her house breaking and crate training.   I know you'll have some excitement with a new Boxer!!

Surgeries are drastic, and indeed should be a last resort for minors.  As indeed they are.  It is very rare for anyone under 18 to get gender-affirming surgery.  It is typically only done if the person would be suicidal without it.   Puberty blockers are a way to avoid the "drastic measure" of forcing the person to undergo the wrong puberty.  They should not be prescribed lightly, and I don't think they are.  They are a way to go slow until the person can truly make an informed decision.
