So my mom has called the Insurance Company

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but here it goes.

My mom has finally called the insurance company to see if they'll cover therapy. A big step for the upcoming trials ahead. However, this raises so many questions.

What if they don't cover it?

What if I can't find the words to describe what I feel?

Will I be able to actually do this? Being 6'4.

What if my mom persuades the therapist to just saying what she wants?

I'm sorry. This is just scary, somewhat confusing, and foreign to me.

Then, you'll need to seek other ways and methods to get therapy (are you going to see a gender therapist?)

What if I can't find the words to describe what I feel?

You'll say what you need to say....even if you can't open up at first, you'll start to place more trust in the therapist...

Will I be able to actually do this? Being 6'4.

What is wrong with that? My two room mates are 6' 2" and 6' 4" and they pass totally...I met another girl at a support group yesterday and she is 6'5" and is totally a woman!

What if my mom persuades the therapist to just saying what she wants?

It doesn't work that way, Hon...the therapist will make their decisions about what you need...

I'm sorry. This is just scary, somewhat confusing, and foreign to me.

It's foreign to us all at first....just be natural and be bruttaly honest...there are no "Right or Wrong" answers and no trick questions...

Greetings,

What if they don't cover it?

Actually from my personal experience this isn't a question to ask your insurance company as most will automatically say no, it's not covered once they find out its for gender related issues. Most gender therapists will bill your insurance for the side-effects of your GID, things like depression, anxiety, and the like but never actually tell the insurance company that the underlying problem is GID. At least that's what I've been told by the half dozen therapists that I've talked to over the years. If it's not covered, they you find another way to cover it.

What if I can't find the words to describe what I feel?

It's not always easy talking about personal things and it may take you some time to open up to your therapist, but it does get easier with every visit. They are there to help you, once you realize that it becomes easier to talk to them about things you normally wouldn't talk to anyone about.

Will I be able to actually do this? Being 6'4.

There are plenty of girls over 6' these days, so I think you're worrying about something that isn't really all that big a deal.

What if my mom persuades the therapist to just saying what she wants?

It doesn't work that way and your therapist isn't allowed to talk about things with your parents unless you give them permission to. What you say to your therapist is private. They may listen to what your parents have to say, but in the end you ultimately decide the route you want to take. They are there to help guide you, help you with the ups and downs, and the like. In the end, the decision is always yours to make. That doesn't mean your parents might not try to influence you, but you have to decide for yourself...that's the only way you'll ever truly be happy.

I wish you luck.

Peace, love, and contentment,

Isabelle

Megan, please listen to what isabelle and Donna Jean said. They are experienced and wise, and know of what they speak.

Please talk to us if you have more questions, hon. It can be scary at first, but you will find the courage.

HUGS

Carolyn

Morning y'all.    Nearly winter here, but it's a mild climate compared to what most of you experience. Even so, the best way to describe the mornings lately is...nipply! 😁

What I don’t like about the dealer working on my car, yes the put the paper mats on the floor, but why don’t they remove them when they bring my car to me?  And why do they always mess with my radio settings and my electronic dashboard settings?  I get them the way I want them and they seem to want them at factory default.  Leave things like you find them!  Why is that so difficult?  And don’t tell me it’s because the updated the computer! Every time!.  And no I haven’t figured out everything yet on the new car.  I can’t even get my key programmed to move my seat when I get in and out.  It’s supposed to move the seat, the mirrors, the steering wheel and several other things.  My old Eddie Bauer was easy to program but then it only programmed seat location and pedal location.   ok now that we’ve had our rousing knock on cars and dealer mechanics.  What else shall we talk about?  Bras?  Seems like an appropriate subject for most of us.  I have several different types. Two are famous store push-up padded to are more common everyday lightly padded ant one is a no padding no strap slip and the last one is a front close longline no padding.  Now that one supports the theory that I am now a B cup on my own. I’d prefer a C but then I’m not so sure my blouses would still fit without pulling.  Ah the problem we have as women.  And sizes are never ever the same.  Oh I’m a size ??  But men I need a large shirt and 36-30 pants and they always fit.   we can’t buy anything off the rack with confidence it will fit and I hate having to take it home to try one and return what doesn’t fit.   we’ll time to do my hair and leave.   love ya   Willow

Hello we are The lake. So called because This One has not determined a name for oneself but has in a way created an environment to try out multiple names as different people. Currently Some of us use she/her pronouns and one uses he/him. We hope to learn more about being transgender and the intricacies involved. Once again it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and we hope to be of further help in the future.
