I love/hate acrylic nails

Acrylics add length to my fingers, which makes my hands look less like baseball mitts, which I very much enjoy. I love the way they look! The problem is, I can't do anything when I have them on. Typing is near impossible.

Is there some secret to functioning with long nails that I don't know? Or do I just need to "man up" (teehee) and learn a new way to type?

Thx!

Probably learn a new way to type. It is harder to do many things with longer finger nails with the nails not the fingers hitting the keyboard. At first when I was growing out my fingernails I used to get them caught and damaged on things. Now I am used to it they last longer too. Remember practice makes perfect.

Hi Nova,

Only a couple times have my nails been long enough. They're naturally very hard and will grow to good lengths as long as I don't touch anything. Clumsiness = short nails, ugh.

But, I love typing when my nails are long! I usually jab straight down when typing, but with long nails, you need to straighten your fingers and caress the keyboard instead. It feels entirely different, and somehow feminine. And there's nothing like picking up coins to enjoy that long-nail feel! I hope you love your nails as much as I would.

I just had mine shaped and colored today. Just seeing those colored objects move reminds me to get them out of the way before closing the refrigerator and the like. Soon I hope to be typing just like you!

Love, Megan

I don't have acrylics yet, but my own nails are the longest I have ever managed to get them and keep them for longer than one or two days. I am using a special super tough clear polish on them however. The keyboard is a new challenge, and putting on even ankle high nylons was a new experience that only ruined one of them. I buy ten pairs at a time, so not a big deal. HINT, the oval tips are better for beginners.

I love my long nails. As far as typing, well I personally like the siund of the nails on the keyboard. So I just type away with the tips of my nails. Do have to be careful though, if your aim isn't good they can get caught between the keys. All I gotta say is that when you can put in and take out contacts with nails 3/8" to 1/2" longer than your fingertips without poking yourself in the eye, you are officially completely adjusted to long nails.

Of course that might not be an issue for everyone. :D

.

lol....practice.....

You'll be able to do most things with acrylics......that is all that I wear these days ...A trip to the nail salon every 5 weeks or so....

Of course I can't work on a Harley anymore with them.....

Oh the sacrifices we make!
