First time urinating after SRS

I got my catheter out earlier this evening. Since then my bladder seems to be irritated like when I first woke up with the catheter. I feel like my bladder is totally full and have to go to the bathroom but when I try to go there is nothing there. Should I be worried?

Never mind I. I called my surgeon and he said he would have to come back and put a catheter back in me. I went back into the bathroom to try one more time in desperation and I managed to go!!! However the urine went all over the place and got over everything. I was just so relieved to have been able to go though that I don't care that I got urine on the throw rug in the bathroom. I called my surgeon back up to abort his trip out here. He told me that the reason it sprayed was because of the urethra being swollen and that as time goes on the spraying should subside as the swelling goes down. So crisis averted! I went back to my bed with a ice pack wrapped up in a container type thing the hospital gave me for me to sit on. Hopefully in the morning the swelling goes down.

That's normal hon. However, the swelling can take a few weeks to go down fully. So it will be a little while before everything is completely settled down.

Congrats!

Natalie:

Forgive me, girl, because I've been meaning to CONGRULATE YOU on your newly-minted jewels!

Been busy, so, as usual, I'm late to the party. Throughout just shy of 15 years' worth of medical transcribing, I've typed gob-goodles of urological, gynecological and obstetric surgical reports, but I must say that I've never typed an SRS report. However, what I CAN tell you is you're okay.

Your doctor told you the plain truth about whay you spray right now. Also, you can relax. This too will pass. Frankly, it takes major courage for all of you postop girls to venture forth with and through SRS. A tip of my hat in total respect to every one of you who have sallied forth on to SRS/GRS.

May I say that I've followed your posts for months and months, and I daresay your transition has been marvelous from my perspective anyway. I believe you pass beautifully. also, your attitude is awesome. I believe by Christmas, you'll be THRILLED with your NEW life ... your REAL life. Best of all, you're basically young enough to really enjoy many prime female years. So, what does somebody say to something like that?

Uhhh, ...

ROCK ON!

Peace & Joy :friends: Lacey Lynne

The spraying is normal...

As far as managing to go, if it is flowing freely when you relax that is good. If being able to pee requires you to pust to kind of force it out, that may not be good. Right now you dont want to be putting the addiitonal pressure down there that pushing might cause.

Natalie,

So very awesome about your surgery. A newly minted lower half must be exciting. I am really sorry about the spray. That doesn't sound optimal. Glad things seem to be going great though.

Natalie, it does tend to spray in the beginning from the swelling, i usually could not go till i got that full feeling in the beginning then i had no trouble, after 4 months my stream is pretty straight and i have no trouble going, though i do have to wipe after which is normal, if you have trouble going again sometimes it helps if you go take a shower.

jealous of me having a major hard time with going to the bathroom?

Um, no. Although, I'll take the whole experience.

I'm so used to patients having issues that are really normal I tend to look right past the complaint and look at the final product, hence

<------- jealous. :-)

Autumn you look great in your photo. I know that it is difficult to save up enough money to pay for the surgery since it is so expensive. Keep your chin up though and know that you will get where I am at in time.

I realized today that the pressure I thought I was feeling while urinating is actually a burning feeling. I googled it and there were several sites that said that when a catheter is removed it is colin for a burning feeling to occur early on. So hopefully soon the burning will subside.

"Exstatic" is an adjective that means feeling great rapture or delight. For example, "His wife gave birth to their first child, and he was ecstatic about it". Synonyms of "ecstatic" include rapturous, entranced, enthusiastic, and frenzied.

Absolutely. Being able to encourage, to help, others is so empowering. I've been helped by so many people over the years, I love being able to pay it forward.

Good morning, everyone!!   A busy day ahead for me - need to cut the grass and then pick up the clippings. The grass grows so quickly this time of year. I cut almost 7 acres so that will take up most of my day. At least I can get some sun on my legs and arms!!   Time for another cup of coffee as I catch up here.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.

I started shaving my legs years ago - I started getting an occasional mild contact rash on my shins. That became my excuse to shave them for both me and my wife. Over time, the rash didn't expand...but my shaving did. Full legs....groin......chest......and finally my arms. Keeping the rash at bay was my excuse until I came out to my wife. Now I typically do a full shave on Sunday mornings. The hair is lighter but I just feel better with it gone - it helps with the dysphoria and dysmorphia. I will also typically do a chest touch-up mid week since I notice the growth more there.   I wish someone would invent a pill that would stop hair growth everywhere except on your head.

Good morning.   im not sure where the time went.  I had a decent nights sleep,  didn’t  tell Alexa to let me sleep another 5 minutes,  I didn’t do anything extra but it’s almost time to leave and I just got here.  Definitely only a one cup morning.    I have the overhead console out of the Ford. It needed some repairs with toothpicks and glue.  Been sitting all night t for the glue to harden. I’m always to impatient with glue but not this time.  I want it to hold. Ok the next owner won’t be able to change the lightbulbs however in my defense, the are led so they will likely still work when the car goes to the salvage yard.   gotta go. Not as much on my plate at work today but it’s always busy.   Willow

Yes, my programmer friends and I think that antivirus software is a virus.  It's constantly searching your system and slowing it down.  If you install your own OS and software on your machine, and you make backups of your personal files, then you can recover from viruses in an hour or two.  My computer is 10+ years old and is working as good as the first day I had it.   As long as my computer is doing what I want it to do, I don't care if someone is spying on my system.

If you get a ticket, always say not guilty and go to court. Much of the time, the officer will not show up, and often the district attorney or the judge will not want to take the time. They ticket harvest because most people just agree to the fine and send them a check by mail.   If you are not a commercial driver, Most states also have a ticket forgiveness program. You take a little easy Driver's Ed Course, and it doesn't go on your record or increase your insurance prices. Explore your options!
