Awakening

One of my newest poems...

Awakening

Silently passes

These pretenses of mine

From morbid facades

Of malevolent conformity

To Reality sublime

Constant affirmation

With a joy undreamt of…

Life unfolds

Like a plot twisted novel

The ending obscure; unknown

The past is a page away

A lifetime ago

And seen from the beginning

Who is this stranger

Who smiles

In mirrored surfaces

From unfamiliar depths of my soul

Whoever she is

I know she is alive

More joyous; vibrant

Than the me that was me.

And wasn’t me at all.

Thank you for sharing your poem with us. It is very well written and shows a lot of feelings that I have also.

Thank you MaryEllen :-)

Life is truly getting better... and nothing attests to it any better than poetry... which no matter how I try... only seems a reflection of what my emotional state is at the time I am able to put them on paper...

I used to get depressed that my poetry was so dark...

hurrays for progession and smiles...

and of course...

Huggles!!

"the me that was me

and wasn't me at all"

what a simple straight forward way of putting it

most of my poems use obscure metaphors and abstract imagery (I wanted to share but not come out...)

but this is great

I really like it

Excellent Kiera. My thought but so much more beautiful than my usual prose with typos and split infinitives etc.. Thank you for beautiful poetry and thank you Naomi for posting today to bring out this poem from the dusty halls of last August..............Mia.

Beautiful work, I have never grasped the art of creating poetry. I love to read it, but I have never been able to write a poem that didn't end up sounding like someone was forced to write a poem at gun point!

Poetry has to flow and mine just sits there!

There isn't a place here for short prose, so I can't actually share any of my work. :(

If I could type and spell better I would put them in a blog - but I am not a born blogger either! :banghead:

If only I could write a poem!

Love ya,

Sally
