Switching of estrogen

Guest Krysti

Recommended Posts

I just got back form V.A. today and they doctor switch me from Estrin to estradiol and lowered my dosage same with my spiro. I know many dosage changes can happen but type of estrogen is that common? and has anyone had good results from estradiol?

Yes, Estradiol is probably one of the most prescribed ones available. Wiki says “Estradiol is about 10 times as potent as estrone and about 80 times as potent as estriol in its estrogenic effect.” I was prescribed it since day one.

Kysti,

Howdy fellow Texan.

I was switched from Premarin to Estrodiol just yesterday. I have been on Premarin for a year, started with a low dosage and steadily ramped upward. Spiro was added, along with a Progesterone in January. My Endo has been doing research on the effects or various hormones and she says the studies are conclusive as to the effectiveness of Estrodiol.. So I would say that, yes, it is common to switch hormones out for those that produce better results.

Hope this helps ease your mind.

eEstrin is another name for Premarin, one preparation of estrogen (congagated estrogens). Premarin(Estrin) was one of the first preparations of estrogen available in the market. Premarin contains a combination of all three forms of estrogen (estriol, estradiol, and estrone). Estradiol is a single estrogen preparation fo just the one form of estrogen. Estradiol is the most potent of the estrogens. You cannot compare the dosage of estrin to the dosage of estradiol because they are different medications and they are dosed differently.

It is very common in endocrinology for the dosages of hormones to be adjusted over time and for the preparations to be changed also.

.

Premarin is made from mare urine (horse) and because of they the urine is harvested ...I would never use it...

It's an animal treatment thing for me......

I've been on Estradiol for 32 months now.....

Well I guess I'm just so used to the fact of being on same type of migraine medicine for a few years changing medications seams like a foreign idea. Well if the effects are any better I'm in for a shock because I was measured today and already a 36A/B atm and hips after 9ish months HRT and PMS cycle like you wouldn't believe.

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.

Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow
