hrt and detransition

For some people i know that they are force to detransition because of unemployment and no health insurance. Would it be dangerous if a mtf POST OP was to stop taking estrogen because they have no testes that will provide them testestorone to get them in a normal level for hormones in a human body? One of the things heard was that if a person is not in a normal range for either having testorone or estrogen that it can bring devastating negative effects on their body. Doesn't that mean a mtf post op will fall ill then succumb to death soon afterward? Isn't a post op suppose to take hormones for the rest of their life? This question came up in my head when i watch a youtube video online.

This is a question you should discuss with a Dr. because we are not qualified to give medical advise but I can tell you what I have read on the subject. Your body needs hormones to prevent osteoporosis among other things-and you would be at serious risk for that I believe. It would also almost certainly have an impact on you emotionally. Our bodies do need hormones to function propery, however I don't believe that you would actually die from it. I have never heard or read anything that suggested that would happen.

Historically there were eunuchs and castrati who lived long lives without testes or hormones. The eunuchs in numerous courts from Egyptian through the Chinese Emperors. And the castrati through the 18th century to preserve male soprano voices.

Psychologically I believe it would be devastating for most women.

Hi Rynae,

I do believe that you're right. It isn't a good thing, but I'm not sure how serious it is.

Luckily, estrogen is inexpensive - I was getting pills for less than $0.50 per day, and injections are less than that. Try not to go there, okay?

First, I don't understand what unemployment and health insurance have to do with detransitioning much less detransitioning when one is post-op. Somehow it seems that going through another transition process doesn't exactly reduce one's expenses.

As far not having hormones. Well that is good question for doctor. Osteopherosis is an issue and last I read that was more related to very low estrogen levels (in males and females). I read that on the internet so it must be right!

The body does make some hormones outside the sex organs so after SRS (or hysto in FTM) there is some hormone production, but is that enough, I don't know.

Just wondering if by your term of de-trasitioning you mean inability to pay for doctors visits and prescriptions? I'm guessing that the confusion may be since you mentioned post-op
